$10M a year for MVS? That is a lot for a WR3.
-
Good news, now the Bills have to match. This will be an interesting few days. Jenkins, Whitehair, Patrick, Bates, Borom would not be a bad start. I still think Eric Fisher is on the table which would make it: Fisher, Whitehair, Patrick, Bates, Jenkins and Borom as rotational guy. That would be a substantial upgrade over last year and you still go in and draft more.
-
These massive contracts for oft-injured guys never work out. They will be regretting this contract in a year or two. At best, Miami is the 9th or 10th best team in the AFC (KC, CIN, DEN, SD, LVR, BUF, NE, BAL, TEN, IND). This move doesn't make much sense for them imo.
-
I feel like once they know about Bates, they will go after Fisher and/or Turner. Both of those guys have connections to the Bears.
-
It's crazy, but this method may actually pay off. I would love to see either Fisher OT or address OG with Bates, Flowers, Turner, or Schofield. Any one of those would be a significant upgrade from what we had last year. Fisher, Whitehair, Patrick, Bates, Jenkins would be very solid, then you draft OL and have Borom as a super sub.
-
Could also be camp arm but interesting.
-
Yeah why not. However, if he is going to take a smaller deal, I am sure he would want to go to a contender.
-
We got two so far! We need at least two more, if not 4.
-
Billy Turner, GB is available. I think he played RG for GB last year. Patrick, Turner, Whitehair, Jenkins, Borom with a rookie OT would work for me. Borom played a lot better than people give him credit for. Also, Jenkins got this entire offseason to recover further from his surgery. It feels like it is easy to overpay in the FA market for a few positions like OT. We could always go with Eric Fisher who has worked with both Poles and Flus.

The Bears just need to write the contract in a way that makes it impossible for the Bills to match. The Bills not only have one of the lowest cap spaces remaining, but they are already 7th lowest for next season as well. The Bears on the other hand are 8th in cap space this year AND have the most cap space for 2023 right now.
-
There are probably only 2-3 players that I would've liked the Bears to have signed so far, but there are still a lot of players left. Also, some guys are taking less and going to contending teams. That is hard to compete against in this market because that is when you overpay. This team is no worse than it was last year (not saying much) but with better coaching, a real scheme, and improvement from Fields, that should give the team a few extra wins. So if they can just marginally improve across the board in FA this year, they will setup nicely for next year.

Bears sign Pringle (From Chiefs) and ST. Brown (from Packers)
adam replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
He looks better than ARob last year, by a lot. Mahomes had a few bad passes that Pringle made nice catches on. -
Yep, then it slides to Slot Corner depending on where Graham plays. I just said CB2 because I don't know where Graham is going to play.
-
That's fine, just shift the RT need to LT: Starter holes: WR1, RG1, S2, CB2, LB3 Starter upgrades: LT1 and NT My thought process is you at least want to go into the draft with all the holes filled, then upgrade with the draft. So fill WR1, RG1, S2, CB2, and LB3 before the draft. Obviously if you can get a LT or NT you do that as well. The Bears still have around $25M to spend in FA. As you have seen from a lot of these deals, you can get work that $25M into 1-2 top end guys and 3-4 mid tier guys.
-
Woods tore his ACL in November and turns 30 in a few weeks. There Bears are probably not going to sign any player older than 30 unless it is an OLineman.
-
Starterwise, we still need a WR1 (for loafing ARob), RG1 (Patrick at C), S2 (for Gipson), CB2 (for Vildor plz), LB3 (Sam or Will) for true starters. O: Fields, Monty, Kmet, WR1, Mooney, Pringle, Jenkins, Whitehair, Patrick, RG1, Borom D: Quinn, Jones, Tonga, Gipson, Smith, Morrow, LB3, Johnson, CB2, Graham, Jackson, S2 For upgrades, we don't look too bad, just need to look at RT1 (if they don't trust Borom) and NT (Tonga). Maybe LB2 if Morrow is more of a rotational guy. So starter holes: WR1, RG1, S2, CB2, LB3 starter upgrades: RT1 and NT That is not that bad. I think they can go cheaper vet at S2 like they have, same for LB3. That would leave WR1, RG1, and CB2 left for holes. I know this team feels worse than last year because we lost Daniels, Nichols, Mack, ARob, Hicks, and Goldman. However, really only Daniels and Nichols were being replaced based on snap count. Patrick is a huge upgrade over Mustipher. Jones is at least as good as Nichols, if not better. So if we can fill the other holes without downgrades, and Fields takes a leap in a real offense and an improved O-Line, I think the Bears will be between 8-9 and 9-8. If the defense improves under Flus/Williams, especially in takeaways, there is a real chance to see more improvement. Also, in the division, GB got worse. They basically have to plug all their holes with draft picks and lost arguably the best WR in the league. Minnesota is basically the same team and Detroit looks to be slightly improved but still has Goff as QB.

Armstead coming to Bears. ( reported a fake account)
adam replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
It looks like it comes down to NO, MIA, and CHI. -
DHC back in the fold. I expect a few more players from last year to come back on some smaller deals. 1 year for $1.77M is near league min.

Bears Sign Bengals DT Larry Ogunjobi (40M over 3 years)
adam replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
That is why they do the physical. Unless they do physicals before they offer a contract, there is no way around this. Who specifically did Poles miss out on in that the window that Ogunjobi was offered a contract and the time of the physical? -
Bears Sign Bengals DT Larry Ogunjobi (40M over 3 years)
adam replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I don't think we are signing Armstead, but guys like Turner, Collins, Flowers, or Price are probably more likely. -
Bears Sign Colts DE Al-Quadin Muhammad (2yr 10M) - DE (former Colts)
adam replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
This makes it easier to cut Attaochu if they can't trade Quinn. -
Looks like they signed Justin Jones, DT from LAC. Interesting that we got Evans and Blasingame from the same backfield.
-
Knee, and he will miss half the season at best.
