Picked to go almost all the way
Yeah, I can see us getting a lot of love from the pro-Cutler columnists. We have many things in are favor. I believe we are one of the harder teams to vote against. We have the same team + Cutler + coaching changes, which should improve on our record by at least a game or two compared to last year. I also think many people forget that we make the playoffs last year with a win at Houston, and could've easily been 8-0 to start last season if it wasn't for 3 3pt or less losses (CAR, TB, ATL).

Brett Favre is in his division now and will play him twice (unless he gets injured by then), so the pressure is actually up. Plus he has to prove that last year was no fluke.

Yeah, was just busting your chops per se.

Orton Update
Yeah, geez. Now it makes sense why he was holding it like that when he came off the field.

Chiefs release Toomer
They said he looked slow and couldn't get any separation in practice. So I would say he is done.

Orton Update
Per PFT: What? Ripping through flesh? His hand hitting Ogun's didn't seem that bad. Wow. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...y-for-week-one/

Cutler vs. Orton: It's no contest
I agree 110%. I am sure McDaniels wanted his own people, and he has already made a huge impact on the current roster (a bunch of former Patriots). However, you don't alienate the single most important player on the team/franchise, then trade him away anyway. The funny thing about the whole situation is McDaniels got what he wanted in trading Cutler. He just didn't get back exactly what he wanted.

Cutler vs. Orton: It's no contest
The fact that Denver management executed a trade so quickly spoke volumes. You don't trade a franchise QB in the first place. All I can say is I am glad they did.

Cutler vs. Orton: It's no contest
Its a business. However, wouldn't anyone feel somewhat uncomfortable when the first thing the new boss does is try to get rid of you? How do you trust him after that? Then after that saga ends, he gives no assurance of long term predictability. Yeah these guys make millions, but it sucks if you have to move or uproot a family every couple of years - and not knowing when that could happen puts undue stress on you. Football is a team sport more than any other, and trust and familiarity breed success. As a QB, trust is huge. You have to trust the O-Line to block for you, the receivers to be at the right spot at the right time, etc, etc. AZ54 is on to something. There is no way Cutler is traded if the owner was not in on it from the start. He knew about McDaniels idea, and they felt so strongly about it, they got rid of Cutler anyway. Plan B.

Bears vs Broncos game
I thought the playing off stuff was sort of a Cover-2 scheme thing, and press was when you would play more man to man?

Thing different from years past
Think about it this way, we had one of the best teams in football in 2006 with Rex Grossman at the helm. That was basically our ceiling. With Cutler, our ceiling is so much higher.

Favre may have cracked rib
That is not a rib Brett, it is the dagger in your back inserted by the Packer fans.

Oddball Observations
From the replay I saw, it didn't look like he hit his or Ogun's helmet. It looked like his hand went right into Ogun's gloves, then stopped and he just dropped his arm down to his side.

I'm pitching a tent too, lol. I kept asking myself what I was seeing, a real QB, moving around in the pocket, rolling out, throwing on the move (and not just out of bounds). He had a couple of missed opportunities, but also had some throws that were placed only where the receiver could catch it. Also, you have to hand it to Cutler. That had to be the most stressful preseason game for any player, ever. The fans booed him more than they cheered for their own team. Once he got comfortable, you could tell he was in the zone. It was only a preseason game, but the results were promising.- Denver Broncos Message Boards
I almost spit my coffee out a couple of times at the hilarious comments. General consensus is they hate McDaniels, and don't like Orton. http://forums.denverbroncos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 I could go on and on. Every thread is filled with comments like those.- Bears vs Broncos game
Yeah, Rideau looks like the odd man out. Davis and Knox both get in due to Special Teams.- Bears vs Broncos game
