  1. Wish the guy nothing but the best. I feel awful for him not only for the injury but also because of all the weight he lost. He was down to 155 at one time.
  2. I look for Cutler to get back to those Denver numbers, hopefully without all the picks, and throw for close to 4500 yards like he did in 08. Maybe throw for around 25-30 touchdowns with hopefully under 16 INTs. If he goes 4500, 30 TDs, and 10-14 INTs you're talking about an MVP candidate, assuming we get #1 seed in the NFC. His stats won't be on par with Rodgers, Brees, or Brady of course, but if the Bears can overtake GB record wise and the rest of the NFC, you'll hear the Cutler MVP talk late in the season. Whether he wins it or not is unlikely but he could at least be in the conversation.
  3. You can never have too much depth, but the question is dollars and cents and of course, whether or not the Bears believe in Kellen Davis, which I believe they do.
  4. My opinion. This is how I'd rank the top 10 RB's 1. AP 2. CJ 3. McCoy 4. Foster 5. Rice (Toss up between he and Forte) 6. Forte (Toss up between he and Rice) 7. MJD 8. McFadden 9. Gore 10. Lynch/Steven Jackson (toss up)
  5. Jay Cutler texted him during the show on First Take, "Defending Bron Bron is suicide." Marshall knows his stuff. He's an extremely deep thinker and seems to be on the right path.
  6. He's not the running back McCoy is, so no. And if Forte thinks he deserves as much or more, he can go kick rocks. He's probably worth between 16-18 mil guaranteed at most.
  7. - Cutler/Marshall chemistry - Alshon Jeffery asserting himself as the #2 - Matt Forte contract situation - How the offensive line shapes up
  8. How hilariously unfair would it be if we ran out Brandon Marshall (6'4) Alshon Jeffery (6'3) Kellen Davis (6'7) and this guy at 6'10 on the goal line. To steal a line from Darryl Drake, they'd be "picking peanuts" off the heads of Corner backs and safeties.
  9. Isn't Paea a 3-technique tackle? I don't think he starts over Melton, and usually you want to have a run stuffer next to your pass rushing DT. That's why I think Idonije starts, but I could be wrong.
  10. DL- Peppers/Melton/Idonije/McClellin OL- Webb/Williams/Garza/Luis/Carimi
  11. Yeah, there are always guys ever year that wind up starting as undrafted free agents. There have been a few that have gone on to make the pro bowl as offensive lineman. Jason Peters for example, Shaun O'Hara, Brian Waters, Donald Penn, Kris Dielman to name a few. Not saying James Brown is our guy of the future because he hasn't played a down yet, but it's also not to say that a guy can't turn out to be a good player just because he wasn't drafted.
  12. His main deficiency, other than inhaling cannabis, is that he's 6'3. Not sure what his position is at the NFL level. I assume they'll try him at both LT and guard and see what works best. He looks pretty athletic from what I've seen.
  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2938546.story Anybody that might give Jamarcus Webb competition at LT is a good thing. Hope this kid can be one of those hidden gems.
  14. Idonije surely is going to be moved back to DT full time again to accommodate McClellin and fill the void of a run stuffing interior lineman.
  15. Ryan Clady and Jason Pierre Paul
  16. Speaking of the devil, here's this gem from Dan Pompei's latest article clamoring for the Bears to sign Tommie Harris, based on this premise. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,6970625.column
  17. Dan Pompei is one who I would call a simpleton. I can't say I'd ever accuse him of ever having that many good football thoughts. Wasn't he the idiot that kept questioning Cutler's body language?
  18. The Bears have the edge in Receiver talent now but the Lions and Packers have been running a system they are familiar with for multiple seasons. That goes a long way. I want to see this team for a couple of regular season games before I anoint them ahead of those two teams in the division.
  19. I read that he and his fiance are pissed at Earl Bennett for going on Boers and Bernstein the other day and letting it be known that the two are having a baby boy. I'm sure he's been in a bad mood. haha. EDIT: Oops I just read the article.. Didn't know that news was already in it.
  20. I didn't know this forum used to be under a different name. I honestly can't even remember how I got here. I think I was just searching "Bears forums" one day randomly several years ago and found it by accident. I saw that it was a brand new site so I decided to join up.
  21. Emery won't admit it but that very well could be in the back of his head. At the very least you get a guy capable of playing different roles if one of our guys go down with injuries.
  22. I heard on the radio that this is like the 8th person on the Chargers team Seau was on that has passed away already. What a sad story..
  23. Oops, I meant to say we should be top 3-5 in ppg as an offense, not in totality. Although it's still a possibility. We were 6th in the league scoring wise with Cutler, I see no reason why we shouldn't be better next year given all the additions. ------------------------------------------------ It just looks weird, is all I'm saying. Especially on a smaller guy. There are certain numbers that just don't look right on people. #99 is sort of rare in itself. Usually if someone wears that number it's a humongous person, like a defensive tackle.
  24. They were 6th in the league last year in PPG with Cutler. I see no reason why we can't become a top 5, top 3 offense next season with all the weapons we are now getting. Tough to say until you figure out what kind of offense Mike Tice will run. There will be no more 7 step drops, so Web is safe in that regard, as is the rest of the offensive line. They should improve just off of that alone. They were about middle of the pack last year in terms of allowing sacks (with Cutler) and again, I'm basing everything off of when Cutler was healthy because that's all that matters. I think if the line can stay within that 30 sack barrier this season, they should be fine. The additions to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery is going to help immensely in the passing game. Cutler has already established a chemistry with Marshall so you can expect another 1000 yard season from him, and anything Jeffery is able to give us is an added bonus. As a rookie, I expect to see the usual struggles every rookie WR goes through in year 1. However, he's going to have a perfect opportunity to have those flaws masqueraded by the guys around him, being focal points. The early prognosis I have for him is around 55-65 catches, 600-800 yards 4-5 touchdowns. The offense as a group should definitely improve after all they have added through free agency and the draft. Now having Michael Bush is going to give this unit a legit #2 RB capable of being a starter. Evan Rodriguez is an interesting piece. I think he'll see spot time as a hybrid TE/FB and be sort of a light version of Aaron Hernandez. I imagine the Bears will use a lot of Ace package (2 WR, 2 TE) sets, where they'll create mismatches for this kid to exploit. His 4.5 speed will be beneficial when you put him up against LB's and safeties. Could this also be the year Kellen Davis breaks out? He's had a lot of built in excuses over the years, being a young player behind Greg Olsen and Dez Clark, and then playing in a Mike Martz offense that completely ignores pass catching TE's all together. I can't wait till the first preseason game when we finally get to see what this team is going to be capable of, offensively. They'll be pretty much the same on defense, only adding McClellin. Which btw, I hate the fact that he's #99. That's not a number for a DE, and it'll make him look slow. haha. Come on son! You gotta pick a better number than that... Lets get this season underway! Bourbonnais is just around the corner.
