  1. Brad Biggs is full of shit half the time he speaks as well.. Dan Pompei is the worst. I'm just going to wait and see what happens this year. I'd love for the Bears to sign both safeties this off-season and shore up the back end of the D in free agency. Then we can focus on the D-Line/CB positions in the draft.
  2. If Emery's pattern keeps up, he'll draft somebody we won't talk about from now until the actual draft. I'd start looking at guys who are projected 2nd rounders.
  3. That line about Chris Conte is more than a little cringe worthy. I'm not sure there's many people out there that could have played any worse at the safety position last year.
  4. Denver made a living putting up gaudy numbers against bad defenses this year. If Tommie Harris and Mike Brown were healthy in the Bear's Superbowl, Manning would be 0 for 3.
  5. This is shaping up to be the worst Superbowl ever. Manning looks awful, that entire offense is out of sorts, out of rhythm. Seattle's defense is as dominating as I've seen since the 2000 Ravens.
  6. Mosely is a beast. I wouldn't mind him at all. I'm still hoping for his teammate, Dix.
  7. Hard to imagine him being back at his current price tag. Maybe if they restructured and he forfeited money, but I don't see that happening. If they elect to retain him, the Bears basically can't sign anybody of real value in free agency.. It would be a terrible move.
  8. Richard Shermon is just an odd person. He tends to give very awkward interviews when he's upset, i.e Skip Bayless/First Take debacle last year.. He's a hell of a player, but I don't like him. I was rooting for the Broncos anyways, but now I hope Peyton shreds them for like 7 touchdowns and 500 yards while Demaryius Thomas catches 2 TD's against Sherman himself. That would make me a very happy camper.
  9. Monte Kiffin and Mel Tucker both should have been fired for being bad at their jobs. Lets not use the former as justification for the Bears keeping Mel Tucker. Especially when its the train-wreck disaster that is the Dallas Cowboys.
  10. This x 10000000 Flat out joke. They'll regret it if Mel Tucker falls flat on his face again with this defense like I expect him to.
  11. This guy has extensive 34 experience with his defenses. This makes the hire very interesting.. Does this mean we will be going to the 3-4 or some sort of hybrid scheme? I certainly hope so! This guy coached both Demarcus Ware and Cameron Wake. Here's to hoping!
  12. From the outside looking in, I have no idea why any potential head coach would turn down a job with the Detroit Lions. Its the best job available by faaaaar.
  13. The Patriots are actually a perfect example of a team that overcame injuries on both sides of the ball. You could say the same about the Colts. What Tom Brady and Bill Belichick were able to do this year was nothing short of sensational. And if we are comparing defenses, the Bears defense gave up more rushing yards than anyone in the history of football except one. The only reason they didn't give up more total yards was because nobody bothered to throw on them much towards the end of the year. They had a free 6 yards on every run.
  14. It only takes one. Saints were a top 5 defense this year. Teams like the Patriots lost big names on D like Jerrod Mayo and Vince Wilfork for most of the season. Aqib Talib also missed a few games. But point being, injuries in general, whether they are on offense or defense, can be overcome with good freakin coaching. It's not a death wish necessarily.
  15. Haa! Found this nugget for all the excuse makers: And this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2828424.story But It's apparently okay to some people that we were one of the worst defenses ever because good coordinators can't overcome injuries.
  16. So in your mind, what was Mel Tucker accountable for this year on defense? Anything?
  17. The 2013 Cincinnati Bengals went through a similar injury plagued season on defense and weren't historically awful.
  18. What a crock. We went through some unfortunate injury plagued seasons under Lovie on defense and NEVER looked like this. The fact that we continued to regress every week and he wasn't able to at least stop the bleeding is a major red flag on the coordinator. People also fail to remember how bad we looked in weeks 1-4 with mostly healthy players. The turnovers mask a lot of things, but the signs were there early.
  19. So huge that we should have been a historically awful defense? Every team goes through similar injuries to one side of the ball every year, and not all of them end up giving up the 2nd most rushing yards in the history of the NFL. Every area on defense the Bears were bad in is directly reflective on coaching. Gap discipline, and angles. Mel Tucker has NEVER, I repeat NEVER been good at his job. This guy is freakin awful and his teams are always at the bottom of the league in sacks. You will never win a Superbowl with a defense that can't pressure the quarterback. I don't care what you do offensively. I'll go back to what I've said in the past. Go back and re-watch the first few games of the year on defense when most of the players were healthy, and you could see signs of a bad defense.
  20. What really blows is that now Tucker will have more built in excuses for failing next year. They'll say it's tough to rebuild a defense in 1 year, and it's tough to be good with so many rookie starters.. I might boycott the season if no scheme changes happen on Defense. At least say we are running a 3-4, or some sort of hybrid D instead of having an incompetent DC run the same Lovie shit he tried to teach last year when it failed miserably.
  21. Bears seem committed to bad defense and special teams for at least another year. If this move doesn't work out, and we have another year like this past season, Trestman deserves to be on the hot seat.
  22. Go San Diego or Denver! I hate both these NFC teams. I don't think SF is as good as they appear to be because Kaepernick isn't as good as he was last year. Seattle will probably roll over them again, and then it will be interesting to see what they do on a neutral field, away from the noise. Still can't count out Tom Brady though, but I'm thinking the winner of this Den/SD game is winning the Superbowl.
  23. I'm of the opinion that you should have to earn your way into the playoffs, and it should be difficult to get there. I don't like allowing more .500 level teams to sneak into the playoffs because then it becomes less important to win your division. What I would like to see is them change the way the seedings work out. If a wild card team has a better record than a team that is a division winner, they should have home field advantage. It doesn't make any sense the way it is now.
  24. Not bad. The Bears really need to cut Peppers and get their 9-10 millions in savings or whatever it is to sign a couple of impact players on defense, preferably a D-Lineman or two, or maybe a safety like Byrd. If they cut Peppers Bush, Weems, Earl Bennett, Conte, and Podlesh I think they save about 16.5M. I'm thinking they'll hold onto Earl though.
