'Yeah but'.... hasn't he been struggling with the RT position? Why would you want to put him in the most important spot on the line if you can't handle one of 'lesser value'? Between he and Mills, neither has impressed so far. I don't really like the idea personally but maybe its time to consider moving Long to one of the Tackle positions(?) Bushrod probably can manage through this year but obviously can't be counted on after that.

As far I have heard his only reps in practice this offseason have come at LT, even in camp. That was until Mills went down just before the last game against Indy then he switched over to RT on Thur before the game. That's why i said we have to give him a bit of a break for some of his issues because one day of practice isn't exactly enough to get proficient on your technique.

It is funny how often people on this board talk about backup TEs and third string RB depth, but almost never address backup OL. What did I say? If Cutler and the offense fail, it will be because of the OTs.

I'll give you credit for needing quality players in backup roles along the Oline but I will not agree with Cutlers success or failure directly correlating with how they perform. I have to look no farther than Aaron Rodgers to know that to be the case.

I think everyone agrees that Rodgers is on a different level then Cutler. I think Cutler is a QB that needs weapons, Oline and a good game plan to perform well. Unfortunately for Bears fans JA thought he could do it on his own and Emery paid him like he could too.

Rodgers does not. Rodgers has also been in the same system every year which helps when plays fall apart or the rush gets to him quickly.

Cutler needs to be successful

1. Good game plan

2. Oline protection

3. weapons to make his job easier

Rodger needs

1. Nothing

I wouldn't say Rodgers needs nothing. I would say he needs nothing because he has been in the same system so long, has had decent WR's, and now as a running game with Lacy. When the defense is good, that takes some pressure off him as well. You need a couple of those to be successful in this league. Cutler has either had a brutal system and good players, a good system and no players, a sprinkling of horrible defenses, and basically zero continuity his entire career for more than a year or two.
