The big takeaway is that Pace did not meet w/ Watson.  That seems like he's not doing due diligence and failed at his job.  A fire-able offense in my book.  Not saying he should be, but saying others have been fired over less.  And his chicken sh&t a$$ didn't want to comment on the article.  Boo.

I agree, it's kind of mind-blowing that you didn't think it would be a good idea to bring all the QB's in for a private workout when you have the #3 pick, and that you didn't even meet with Watson at all.  Pace's record stands on his own and I don't know why he is getting more time than Emery did when he has technically been a worse GM. 

One assumes they were playing games with perceptions of other teams as to who they were interested in etc.

I doubt very highly it was laziness or lack of effort to do due dilligence.
