2021 Comp Picks

Featured Replies

From https://overthecap.com/compensatory-draft-picks-cancellation-chart/  it looks like we'll be earning three 6th Rd, and one 7th Rd comp picks next year.   We signed KPL and Nick Williams last year as player nobody expected anything from yet both played well enough for their new deals to earn us comp picks.

Chicago Bears
Compensatory Free Agents Lost: 5 Compensatory Free Agents Gained: 1
Name Rd. APY Rank Name Rd. APY Rank
Nick Kwiatkoski 6 $7,000,000 320 Robert Quinn 4 $14,000,000 118
Nicholas Williams 6 $5,000,000 402
Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix 6 $3,750,000 427
Chase Daniel 6 $4,350,000 469
Kevin Pierre-Louis 7 $3,450,000 548

Cornelius Lucas   $1,900,000 731 Barkevious Mingo   $1,187,000 894

I think with Paces one year deals given to Ifedi, Spriggs, Burns etc, he is hoping to convert on one or more of those also.

It would be nice if all made it as a  break out season but history suggests maybe 1 or 2 hit. That would be nice.

After drafting Johnson and Vildor I'm not even sure Burns makes the roster.  CB battle in camp is going to be one worth watching....if they let fans watch that is.

I agree, there is going to be a purging of TEs and CBs on this roster really quick.

There is only a 32 pick limit for the entire league. So we will only get 3x 6ths next year: https://overthecap.com/draft/

Still not bad, but no 7th as KPL doesn't make the cut. Crazy to think something like 50-100k in the contract is the difference between another comp pick or not.

So we will have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 4x 6th rounders. We traded the 4th to draft Gipson and a 7th for Pineiro.

Those 4x 6ths are going to give the team a ton of flexibility to move around. I could see them taking a 5th and 6th to move into the 4th, then taking two 6ths to move back into the 5th, which ironically would give them back their 4th round pick for 3x 6ths. Since the 6ths are at the end of the round, they are not much better than an early 7th.

NFL.com is saying only 2x 6th round picks for us?

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001112252/article/2021-nfl-draft-compensatory-pick-projections-for-every-team

So we will have to see. I don't understand how they think Dallas can get a 7th round comp pick when Daniel's deal would give us a 6th. I think they have Daniel's deal wrong. He signed a 3-yr $13M contract. The two Dallas players that would give Dallas a 7th are Su'a-Filo and Heath with only an average AAV of $3M. So it looks like they gave Dallas an extra comp and took one from us. I think OTC is correct.

It wouldn’t surprised me we only receive 2 x 6th round picks because if any team gets stiffed by rule decisions in the NFL it’s the Bears.

Yep you are right, but the way the article describes it (w/ Dallas getting a 7th), they seem to have skipped over Daniel's deal with Detroit which was of greater value.

And if they would give team a bone, it would be Dallas.  I've noticed that with home Prime Time games.  The NFL sure likes to promote their new stadium.

again, I thought there was going to be no math.
