August 24, 20232 yr comment_199641 Just seen this and haven't verified it with another source but it kinda makes sense. https://twitter.com/clayharbs82/status/1694711611163128207?s=20 Report
August 24, 20232 yr comment_199646 Seems like the writer has in depth insider information to know the places they went and even what they ordered. I am sure a portion of this story is true. Report
August 24, 20232 yr comment_199650 There's a whole lot of nothing at that link. Maybe because I’m not a Twitter customer? Or maybe because I’m blocking Elon’s tracking methods? Anyone have a one line summary of what happened? Report
August 24, 20232 yr comment_199651 AZ, the story is that Davis didnt like getting written up for a loaf, and they wouldnt let him play until his attitude changed, and Eberflus took two weeks of taking him out to dinners (including what they ate) to convince him that its not an insult, but that coaching makes players better and now they are on the same page and happy. No disrespect meant to anyone, but B freakin S. Report
August 24, 20232 yr Author comment_199652 It's about the beginning of training camp where he told Nate was getting some loafs and Flus told him we don't do that around here. So Flus hasn't been letting him practice until he changed his attitude. So they have been meeting everyday and he's coming around with his motivation. Report
August 24, 20232 yr comment_199653 Interesting but I can’t imagine Flus took him on that many dates. Report

August 25, 20232 yr comment_199657 Thanks Mongo for going to all that trouble. If this is true....and I'd much prefer he was physically injured instead of hurt feelings. I can't imagine getting paid $10mil/yr and quitting on my teammates because I thought practice was too hard. The Bears didn't force him to sign that contract nor to come here. Then again I didn't quit hard practices in high school when I wasn't getting paid. I wanted to get better and I wanted my teammates to work hard and get better too. I have no frame of reference for him quitting because his feelings were hurt. As for him quitting and then returning and suddenly becoming a leader .... nobody is foolish enough to believe that crap. Trust, once broken takes a long time to rebuild. Guys like Carter have been out there working hard for two weeks while he sat around and did nothing. Davis' first apology should have been to his teammates for acting like a selfish child. Report
August 25, 20232 yr comment_199659 I just don't believe any of it really. Again, no offense to anyone here who posted the story, or thinks some or all of it is true - just my opinion. Report
August 29, 20232 yr comment_199740 I'm pretty sure that story is bs, but the insinuation of his laziness is not too far fetched to believe. There was a rumor around the time the Bears signed Davis that Mike Vrabel "hated" him. The speculation was that Vrabel was tired of seeing so injuries from certain players that he didn't think were doing the right things to take care of their bodies. Not sure whether it's true or not, but that would certainly jive with what has been going on over in CHI ever since he arrived, starting with him skipping OTA's. The whole vibe with him has been weird since day 1. He skipped OTA's, and then suffered an injury just as training camp was getting started that coincidentally managed to keep him out the entire pre-season. Also, there was that awkward interview he had with Bears press where he refused to answer any questions about his injury and told everybody to "talk to the trainer." I could be wrong, but this sounds like a classic case of somebody mailing it in as soon as they get the bag. I don't like where this is headed. Report
August 29, 20232 yr comment_199743 Apparently we are making a trade for 29 yo IOL Journeyman Dan Feeney from the Dolphins. He's played OC and OG in San Diego, and then was a primary backup for the Jets. He's probably better than what we have at OC, and backup OG after Davis and Jenkins. He played every game the past two seasons for the Jets (while starting only 5 and 2 games), but started every game but one from 2017 thru 2020 for the Chargers. Here's some film break down from a couple years ago. He looks pretty good in the zone scheme, bumping the right guys, and holding up pretty well on his one on ones. This really helps. But what are we giving? Hopefully in a package with Gipson where we get some draft capital added in coming back our way. Report

Vrabel likes physical players, builds from the lines, etc. So fact that he walked, yes, Bears could have offered more money - but than the way he responded in the offseason staying away, clearly all red flags. I don't know that the story is true - but revisionist history - this is the 2nd major move where out of the gate they look to be poor moves (1st was the Claypool move and 2nd was Davis). With all that said - Davis and Claypool can go on to crush it this year and no one will care about the early bumps in the road. Report
