Falcons & Eagles may lose draft picks due to tampering

NFL is investigating the FA signings of Saquon and Cousins per shefty. Expecting loss of draft picks - potentially more severe for Falcons vs. Eagles.  Some swirling reports that maybe the Giants/Vikings actually pick up the lost picks.

Would Falcons lose their 1st rounder (or will it be a lesser pick or a future pick) and beyond that - will Vikings potentially get that pick.  Could have major implications on Bears positioning - especially if NFL set a tone and took away #8 pick (I would be shocked - I'm expecting something like a 2nd or 3rd rounder if they wanted to come down hard).

I can’t imagine the league taking away draft picks this year on the week of the draft.

and even more, awarding surprise early first round pick. The other teams would be in an uproar.

That seems right, I agree. They could even take a first rounder away, Im not predicting it, but it's possible, but I cant see them awarding a first round pick to another team.

If there was tampering it affects the entire league not just the Vikings.  Any other team, including Chicago, could have pursued Cousins, although there is a logical end to the list of suitors.   So the Bears were potentially harmed, as were other teams.  Awarding the ATL pick to Minn further harms the Bears and the other teams that could have pursued Cousins.   If they do that they are idiots.

Seen where Philadelphia wants to move up and we have a connection with Cunningham . They have 22+50+53 and three 6 th round picks.

Would you ?  For 2 seconds, and a 6th. rounder, obviously pick 22

Without a doubt, yes, but I doubt they'd offer both 2nd rounders. If they did, it would be an awesome opportunity to fill three needs, after the selection of CW, with quality players in the top 53 of the draft. Then we'd still have a 3rd, 4th and their 6th. Yowsa!

For the trade value to work out we would have to give them pick 75.

9) + 75)  for  22 + 50 + 53  I suspect we get them to throw in a 6 th round pick.  ( those are low point totals).

I'd still go for it. We can still get a blue chip at 22 and the two 2nds (50 + 53) would awesome.

As I suspected, the investigation is going to go into at least next week and any penalty will not affect this year’s draft.

Honestly, I think this is the right thing to do.  If they were to come down with a judgment less than a week before the draft involving picks, would punish the Falcons and Eagles, but, the ripple effect on the rest of the league's draft boards would be unfair to the rest of the league.  I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't involve draft picks in next year's draft and/or other consequences for the upcoming season.
