Hey, I had my expectations too and they haven’t been may the way I thought, but new regime, with their own feelings about the roster and what they want it to look like, I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they don’t deserve it, but day three of the draft, I’ll give you a chance and let’s see what happens.

It is always an initial reaction vs let's see how it plays out, but my initial reaction is mixed, which feels underwhelming when they had 4 picks in the first 62. Those 4 may all be starters Week 1, but for now just seems like all of them are rotational players at best.

After that, I’m just not sure there were that many starting slots available. Would a 2nd/3rd round DE start over Dayo who they just paid? Was there a sure fire starter at LT in that range? Maybe RB but I don’t think even a guy like Kaleb Johnson was going to be a day one starter over Swift, he would more be a guy who gets carries. I doubt a 21 year old TE comes in and starts day 1 in Ben Johnson's reportedly complex scheme. He will contribute from day 1 for sure but TEs need to be in meetings with Oline and WRs. It usually takes dual role TEs a couple seasons to get it all down. Loveland's stats will get all the media and fan attention.
BearFan PHX
When we switched to a 3-4 we knew we needed a different kind of NT. So maybe when we switched to Ben Johnson we needed a different kind of TE

Sam Laporta was a 22 year old rookie TE in Ben Johnson’s scheme and put up 86/889/10 TDs

All top 4 picks would have been labeled as day 1 starters 3 years ago. Maybe not Loveland but he'd have been very close to starting over the version of Kmet that was entering the 2022 season. The RT, DT, WR... all 3 of those would have been starters in Week 1. I think the only likely day 1 starter position we could have drafted would have been a RB (several options) or LT had we chosen Banks. Even my guys like Grant, Williams, or Nolen would have been rotational players this year. I've waited years to get to this point and I'm not bothered at all by the fact these 4 picks have to go earn their playing time. Braxton Jones is going to be working out like never before. With this many RBs drafted I feel like there will be a decent FA option popping up soon...in a buyers market.

DABEARSDABOMB
I like what bears did - I didn’t think they got cute - I think they got a lot of quality football players or decent talents with strong measurable who hopefully can be coached up. Competition for the oline is significantly improved between draft and free agency and same when I look at offensive skill position players. Again, going off consensus, they had the 2nd biggest reach of the draft with Hyppolite. I guess it is not that big of a deal, but still notable. Interesting to see this play out.
