Unless Poles comes out and says they were trying to move up, it's just rumors.

One person starts a rumor, then 10 people repeat that rumor, it doesn't make it a fact.

Last year in a video, Poles was getting nervous to move up to take Rome, Ian made him wait and we got Rome. That's a fact because we saw a video verifying it. Poles has never stated he try to move up, he said he let the draft come to him.

Youre right of course. And if that's the standard of evidence around here that's fine by me, but we have to play by it equally :)

I think the fact that we traded down right after each HB got taken in front of us is pretty good evidence, but it's circumstantial I agree, not proof.

None of which means he didn't inquire about moving up.  I fully expect him, and every other GM, to be doing that throughout the draft to assess trades values up or down as the process plays out.  As far as I know teams won't disclose who they are picking until agreement is reached on value.   Since it's a fact we didn't reach an agreement with any team on a trade up I find it suspicious anyone would know who we were thinking about trading up for...unless the leak is from inside the house!

I think when a GM calls around to multiple teams, and doesn't make a deal with them, those other teams talk too, and the info gets out.

And like you say, calling and pulling the trigger are two different things. From the coaching hire, we know Poles is the type to fully investigate all kinds of scenarios that wont actually happen. So he might be an active GM in calling to figure out prices for trades up and down all the time.

To Stinger's point, even if he was doing the due diligence Im talking about it doesnt mean that he was serious about consummating the trade, and it doesn't mean it would have been a HB if he had traded anyway.

But as sports fans, we can read tea leaves and make guesses. It certainly doesnt prove anything either way; that he is fine with or not fine with Swift. But we can guess.

Every GM checks out all scenarios but Twitter has us moving up to get Jeanty like Poles posted it in the tribune.

For sure, all we know, from other teams, is that Poles was inquiring about the price to trade up. We can't know who he was thinking of taking had the price been right. Probably Banks at 3 LOL or Jeanty :)

We did hear from Courtney Cronin, that the Bears has Jeanty above either OT and Loveland though, so it's not that hard to put together.

She doesn't have inside information, just guesses like anyone else. They have rated him higher but doesn't a trade was out there.

no, when she is giving opinions, she uses words like "I think" etc - she absolutely has many sources inside many NFL teams. She is a reporter, and when she says things as facts, she has definitely heard that information from a credible source.

She named Jeff King, director of player personel for the Bears as one of them, who confirmed a bunch of this.

She's the best out there...

The bears had Jeanty in for a 30 visit so it was obvious they were interested in him. He was rated one of the top 3 players in the draft. That's not inside information. They could like him more than both OTs because they weren't true LTs. This is a moot point because Jeanty was taken and they didn't move up to draft  him and they picked Loveland. So no inside information.

Show me an example of something she reported before anyone else which would indicate inside information.  I can't find anything.
