Bears4Ever_34
Sounds like another rough practice for the offense in joint practice with Miami. From what I was reading, he threw a pick on the first play of 11 on 11's, followed that up with a 70 yard TD to Zacheus, but then not much success after that in any other team drills. Sacks, false starts, and throwaways seemed to be the theme of practice. I wonder if Johnson is going to regret not having #18 out there in pre-season on Sunday. I understand his decision, but I feel like he needs to play better in these practices to justify it. On the flip-side, the defense dominated without Kyler Gordon (and Johnson, of course). Miami also didn't have Tyreek Hill, which shouldn't be discounted. Tua had 3 picks today after reportedly only having 1 the entire training camp. Stinger226
We have our dominate pass rusher on the team. Sweat had 2 sacks and constant pressure. After an injury riddled last year he came to camp with a chip on his shoulder and in the best shape he has ever been in. He has been noticed by BJ having mentioned Sweat several times during practices. Remember he goes against Darrnell Wright on a regular basis, not a Larry Boron type of player. Im calling 12-14 sacks this year.

Dexter is going to be playing a lot of 1T this year, plus they'll move Dayo inside on passing downs.
AZ54
Watching this press conference really has me excited for this season. I haven't felt this way in a long time. Now I know everyone is still worried about our offense but I'm very confident those issues will get ironed out early in the season. Why? I haven't seen any sign of Ben Johnson backing off on the scheme yet. They haven't digested everything yet but if he keeps feeding them it's because they're eating. I know he will slim it down for the start of the season but what's important is that Ben will have everything on the menu at his disposal as he makes the game plans. However, defensive football is my true love. It's not that we looked better than the Dolphins offense today. it's the way we took their lunch money that has me fired up. We've had some good defense at various times over the last 30 years (I guess it's more like 40 years now) but we haven't had that hard-nosed defense I grew up with in the 70s and 80s. Win or lose, I think grown-man, in-your-face, physical football is going to return to Chicago this year. This doesn't mean I think we're going to be an elite defense. I think it will be good, maybe even top 10. But there's going to more "impact" plays on defense. Looking back on the draft it's now clear Shemar Turner is a perfect fit for what Dennis Allen wants to see on the field. With the offense set for the next 3 years we're building defense for the next two. Light the fuse I'm ready....Let's Go!!!!!

Stinger226
We have to credit DA for the aggressive physical football being back. Jarrett is an attitude guy who pushes other players. Byard has always been that player but the dysfuncion last year didnt allow him to show up all the time. Montez is looking like the first year he got here with his quickness and attitude. Like AZ said, Turner is the perfect fit , I hope he gets on the field before the season starts. And Brisker is healthy and sticks it in your face. Stinger226
I think DA is using Edmunds better than Flus did. Terrell was a beast in Buffalo and can meet his paycheck with DA using him to add to the blitz. Byard mentioned Eligah Hicks and for a late round pick has always played well in a backup role. Our back 7 has a lot of depth. Sewell is showing up. In his Jr year in college he was a huge stat getter and just needed DA to get him up to speed. The defense has taken a back seat to the showcase of offense but we have several leaders on this team. Jarrett and Dayo are attitude guys and Shemar Turner is exactly that as soon as he's back. Sweat is looking like the beast he was in 2023 when he came here.
Stinger226
Does anyone else find joy in watching the Packers lose? Its a preseason game and doesnt matter but I just like to see them play bad. Defense wasnt good, first team offense couldnt move the ball and their vaulted WR corp drop balls all over the place.

I don't put much weight in the preseason game outcomes, but I would be slightly concerned if the Bears were getting blown out in every preseason game. Especially the score at halftime. If you are already getting blown out at halftime where you would've had at least your primary backups in, that would be concerning.

AZ54
I know we've got some injuries to the CBs but we just added 4 safeties to our roster. Something is going to change on that depth chart. I hope Owens gets cut. I was hopeful for Tysheem Johnson was good enough to make the 53 but adding this much competition late in camp doesn't bode well for him. UDFA S Major Burns designated to IR and CB Shaun Wade to IR. A WR was cut too. I think it is to replace the two lost to injury and too look at more guys if T Johnson isn't looking as good as thought. Bears4Ever_34
Scrolling through some of the tweets from practice today, it seems like it was a better day for the offense than the joint practices against Miami, but LT has become a major bottleneck for their ability to sustain drives. Way too many false starts and sacks given up. Braxton Jones with another subpar practice. On the positive side, OZ keeps making plays as WR3. Another 40+ yard TD reception in one of the final 11 on 11 drills today, and the Caleb/Rome connection is apparently red hot right now. Multiple TD's for Rome in team drills on the day. Oh, and Shamar Turner came back to practice, which is good to see.

AZ54
If the light is turning on for Booker this defensive front could be a good one. I think Dayo has also been challenged to make more plays because in the last week he’s been more aggressive in his pass rush and getting home. He has non existent the first half of camp.
