Ok, so here's my swing at a 53 man roster right now. The ??????? slots will be filled either by guys currently on the roster (in parenthesis) or by grabbing someone else's cast off. All this assuming no trades that take guys from our roster too.

So lets talk - did I put anyone on that isnt gonna make the 53? Are any of the guys in parenthesis locks? Closest I see to that is Amagadje, but I left that one open in case anyone wants to promote someone else.

I think they only keep 5 WRs because of the ability to move Loveland to the outside and running a lot of 12 personal. 

Kiran will be on the roster, I dont think they expose him to waivers.

Ruben and Amen will be last 2 LBers. 

Blackwell hasnt practiced for a few weeks, so I think Nick McCloud could slide in there.

The majority of final roster spots will be controlled by who is healthy.

 

I think Hyppolite, Ogbongbemiga, Hicks and Owens are all but locks. Then probably Frazier and Homer.

Ogbongbemiga and Hicks are core special teamers, as is Owens and Hicks. 

I think the last OL, DL, and WR will probably be the toss ups with Amegadje, Pickens/Ford as the leaders. Poles mentioned Jahdae Walker by name which was surprising to me in regards to camp standouts.

I think Hyppolite is probably a practice squad guy at first. I agree on Amagadje. I do think that the bottom few spots might be filled by camp cuts from other teams

Youre probably right about the 2nd string safeties too, but i kind of feel like there might be more shakeup there than we are expecting.

I dunno if Hippolyte is quite ready for prime time, but he certainly has attributes and will stick around this team one way or another.

I think LB is one of only two positions I had two slots open for (safety is the other), and i was just wondering whether Hippolyte would go to the practice squad if he isnt a starter to gain experience before we bring him up - its not a knock on him at all. Thats why I put him where he was.

I don't think PS players get any more reps than 2 nd string players. Since Hippolyte has been exposed to the NFL. If on the practice squad, his speed will attract attention.

I simply think the Bears are too high on him to give up this early.  Who else do we have as the 4th LB?  Ogbon?   Hippolyte is just relying on his old habits of watching the plays and then running faster than everyone else to get there.  He needs to improve his ability to read plays and react sooner, then he can stand out.  It obvious on film,  he knows it too and said as much in his most recent press conference.  In the meantime he needs to become a core special teams player.  Let's coach him.

I think Zah goes PS.   

Walker is a PS lock IMO but could slide into the 53.  Depends on the things on all the other stuff that's harder to assess:  special teams/meeting rooms, assignment-sound, intangibles.   

I'm curious whose returning kicks. I sure don't think it's Maurice Alexander. I thought Dueveny was the guy?

That is breaking news to me.  Did they say why Zah missed most of camp? To me he should be a ps player since he is so far behind the curve.

I responded to your keepers post before I looked at any other posts after that post. You literally posted, keeper then PS an hour later and Im the one that gets stuffed confused.

No, you actually didn't.  You responded to my answer to PHX.  And it was not contradictory.  I originally said who I thought they'd keep.  Them, I agreed with PHX on what they should do.  Context is key. 

Remember the RIF program the 70's?  Sorry, it didn't take.

I think they will play some funny games with injuries and stuff to hide some guys, Frazier seems like a candidate. Booker may end up on IR (miss first 4 weeks), which is the smarter move even if he can come back in 3. Roschon may be another candidate for that, which then frees up the spots for Hardy, Walker, and another RB.

Slow start for the Bears but so far cuts include RB Deion Hankins and S Major Burns. 

Trades have started around the league.  I wonder if we'll be active in swapping some of our depth pieces (i.e. Tyler Scott) for late round picks or depth at RB.   I don't think we have anyone else of marginal value who won't make our roster but perhaps there could be someone among the DBs that flashed enough to help a team with a lot of injuries.  Unless they are content to trade one of the backup Oline players but that seems very presumptuous given our history at that position.

I doubt it but he might view Scott to the Vikings as a strategic advantage for week 1 if he's on the field.  

It's crazy to think that we could potentially cut 4 OL that started games for us last year.
