Not sure if this draft puts the Bears into top 5 for 2026, but think it fills some needs and a start to rebuilding the D. 

Traded the first pick since Buff offered a 2027 2nd, I am good taking 2027 rounds 1-3 trades, it should be a strong class 

Rd1- Caleb Banks- 1T- the closest defensive position to the QB. Banks has massive size and power, with speed. Shuts down the inside running lanes and get push up the middle to flush the QB.

Rd2- Romeo Heights DE- smaller, older, but non-stop motor with rare speed. May not be the best against the run or getting hands on him, but if you want pass rush, he has it.

Rd3 - Gracen Halton 3T- another D-lineman with get off and relentless motor. Needs strength and refinement but adds a guy to step in behind Jarrett and Dexter, maybe Turner depends on where the Bears see him. 

Rd4- Jalen Kilgore SS - physical DB with elite size and speed.  Replaces Brisker 

Rd5- Sam Roush TE - Ben Johnson loves to use mismatches, and having another big reciever/end that can line up all over and he can block keeps the pipeline full

Rd7 - Trevor Lauck OT - Iowa LT that needs work pass protecting but is fundamentally sound and a high effort guy.  Gives the Bears another body to put in mix with Theo, Kiran, and Ozzy. 

Rd7- Kaelon Black RB - Indiana RB and his closest comp is Kyle Moninagae. Id rather find speed, but couldnt pick anyone else because this guy's profile seems like another 7th round star

 

I don't know some of these names but Banks and Kilgore are home runs. Definitely think we draft a LT but probably a few rounds sooner.

Maybe round 1 for LT if they want to nail it down. I feel we have a lot already invested in the oline, but Rausher (line coach) can get guys like Rauck who is very well coached already up to speed fast.  The TE taken would be better going to LB or LT to be honest.

Applying those same coaching expertise, Theo or Kiran could be put in place until Ozzy comes back by just improving. With modern medicine, writing Ozzy off may be premature at least from his future status. I think LT will be a priority but it depends on their opinion on the current players.

Also do not rule out a one year prove it deal with Braxton Jones coming back. It would be attractive to him thru familiarity and giving him more value in free agency with a starting spot available. 

Could be a first rounder or a prospect in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. I trust them to figure it out.

I think the team will be optimistic about Ozzy returning to full health.  If that’s correct then I agree with AQ Shipley when he was interviewed at the Superbowl by CHGO and discussed our Oline.  He basically said if you want to buy yourself a year then sign a vet because you can’t ever really trust a rookie even the early picks.  While the veterans flaws you will know how to cover up.     That makes the most sense to me unless we think Ozzy can’t return    

i also think we might find a decent FA player at a good price now that we have a good team

That makes the most sense as long as Ozzy can be full health again. An average LT with lots of experience. Sounds like Braxton to me.
