My guys

Featured Replies

I want us to draft this guy anywhere on day 3.  He can block he can run better than Kmet and he seems to have equally good hands.  He does not have the movement skills of Loveland.  I see him as a good fit for our TE2 a year down the road.  The fact he was Loveland teammate should only help him acclimate to the team quicker.

I’ll be using this thread to track my guys in this draft.  Feel free to throw in yours.

I am all about another TE, Smithe is a FA.  Kmet you never know when they decide to part. I recently put Sam Roush from Stanford, who i think can be a good player, but think there are half dozen who can add to our arsenal.

They will definitely bring in a TE, not sure where they draft one.

I like this guy for a RB addition. 4.45 speed, 6'2"-223 with 34 inch arms. Draft buzz has him as the 136 ranked player, 8 th as a RB. Late 4th to 5 th round.

As for now, he's rated a 4th to 5th round pick but the Combine could change that. That would be a great value if we got him in that range.

Washington is ok.  He’s a day 3 pick who can get you what is there to be got.   That little bit of burst would be nice to have over Roschon.

There is a value for every draft pick. Don't draft a 3rd value in the first or 7th in the 5th. Someone like Burden who had first round talent fell to the second. Poles and BJ will figure it out.

Been watching a lot of tape on McDonald and he's a beast. Probably won't make it to 25. Had 65 Ts as a DT, that is amazing.

Lee Hunter is rated as a mid to late 2nd round. He has good tape on him too .

I see all this Lee Hunter hype but McDonald is a rare beast.  IMO you take the route run stopper over the guy who will offer a good but not great mix of both.  Then you just have to pair him with a good 3tech of which there are several in rounds two or three.

I spent some time yesterday digging into Zion Young. He plays with power, quickness, and hustle. He reminds me of Jared Verse with his power. Not being an expert I’d say I don’t see a complete set of pass rush moves but that also means there is room for upside. He plays the run very well too with the strength to hold his ground, even against some TE/RB + OT double teams, and gets off those blocks. He’s generally listed as a 2nd Rd player but rumors are that he’s rising up draft boards. He is not the most twitched up bendy guy but he has enough to get around the outside edge of an OT. He also shows enough strength to hold up inside and will be very effective on stunts or just lining up inside as an interior pass rusher.

I’ve been pushing for a DT at 25 but the more I think about it I wouldn’t be surprised if he is our pick at 25. The combination of Young and Booker coming off the edge would be a problem for QBs because they both close very quickly once they get a path. Also, when considering why we drafted Shemar Turner last year one of the reasons was the violence and aggressiveness he played with. Zion has a similar style, albeit with less after-the-whistle action, and is a better athlete. He is also the type of versatile player they said they wanted (or thought they got) in Dayo but we never saw it.  So that has to be on the wish list for Dennis Allen.

p.s. I'm well aware Mel Kiper mocked him to Chicago a little while ago but that didn't, and does not, influence my opinion. Too many of the pundits are just throwing darts killing time now before the draft to generate discussion and clicks.

its funny AZ54, we almost always agree, but on this one, we don't. i think Zion isnt' going to be a productive pass rusher in the NFL. I prefer Gabe Jacas by a lot to be the same kind of player but more successful in the NFL.

Time will tell, so it'll be interesting to watch this one unfold, whoever they play for.
