March 7Mar 7 comment_233016 As for the 3rd round compensation picks, that will be announced next week in the leagues new year if the Bears are getting them. Poles might know and it may have leaked to Cronin, but until the NFL announces it, it is speculation. Report

March 8Mar 8 comment_233020 Courtney Cronin's source is Jeff King. She's had exclusives from him before, and even attributed some to him. And I'm not saying Jeff is breaking rules, Im sure the Bears are good with it - most teams find a reporter that they can use when they need to put out disinformation before the draft, or spin on some negative publicity thing, and they "pay" for that by letting info out early to those same reporters in return. It means Courtney will sometimes have inside info, but it also means she wont be the one asking tough questions in the pressers either? Report
March 8Mar 8 Author comment_233021 Jeff King is the new assistant GM and it just may be his opinion. He won't last long as AGM it he's leaking information. It just could be the league haven't decided yet and they will find out when the rest of us but they may think it's 60% a chance they do. I think she is one the local press that does ask good questions. My opinion Report
March 8Mar 8 Author comment_233039 Adam Hoge was sighting a story about the edge rushers with the highest paid salaries currently, maybe top 10, has never won a Superbowl. He used Parsons as the example, 16.7% of the salary cap. Crosby is getting 12.7% I suspect the point was , it's not worth the investment. Make your own conclusion. Report
March 8Mar 8 Author comment_233040 Keep track of the name Jamaree Salyer as a possible LT signing for the bears. He will come cheap and can play 4 positions on the OL as the temporary LT until Ozzy comes back. He's PFF grades aren't good but he at least can fill a need as a depth piece. I only bring his name up because Poles is always full of surprises. Report

But most teams, including this years Bears, have tried to buy that pass rusher. Rumor was Poles offered 2 firsts but Ravens were better slots. I don't think the Bears are ready to add that piece yet when they need DTs, LBs, and S's to just line up a starter. Report

Where did that rumor come from? Everything I’ve seen said that the Bears were mostly on the sideline watching and were never serious contenders for Crosby. Report

That was just rumors by pundits about Maxx. After last year with the big spending in free agency, they just don't have the money anymore. They will open up money to do what they need to in restructures. They will sign 2nd tier players. Bradbury is an example of screwd cap moves. Report
