adam Posted yesterday at 06:44 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:44 PM For all the PFFers, Bush was the 3rd highest graded LB in the NFL at 87.6 with over 500 snaps. The highest graded Bear last year was Jackson at 76.4, and Byard at 75.4.
adam Posted yesterday at 06:54 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:54 PM So the Bears have had a slight downgrade at Center, a solid upgrade at Safety, and a very solid upgrade at LB. Also, they signed Bush and Jackson for less than what Edmunds hit would have been.

BearFan PHX
Bush is a hunter. He's great at sniffing out the run and blitzing. He's not great in coverage, his INTs all came on deflected balls, but his situational awareness is very high. If something floats near him, he's snatching it. Hes a real asset in the run game tho - he locks on like a missile and finds his way through traffic well. Hes got a high motor too, making plays from the backside when the hole gets slightly gummed up. Bryant is great. Physical, good in coverage, a ball hawk, and a peanut puncher. Both these guys look like Bears players.
adam
The Giants signed Edmunds for more than the Bears did on Bush.

Also saw where Bryant first year cap hit is 6 mil and 4 mil for the DT. Never saw the Bush cost yet.

Stinger226
This year we are seeing DA have more input in to the decision making for the defense. He likes more speed and it will be interesting to see what we ad in the draft.
DABEARSDABOMB
We say he likes speed - for the record Edmunds is quite fast and similar age. This is a solid move but It is far more of a lateral move. Reality is right now they have kind of treaded water at LB corps, but slightly more cost effective, while doing the same at safety - but certainly got younger and quicker at safety position. I'd argue DT is a bit better too as the new guy has a bit more burst. Offense is worse overall - our new center is not as good as Dalman, and no Moore replacement (not that it was expected - we need to see our existing talent step up) and they are replacing his funds / pick to go to defense. It comes down to - can we execute in the draft - I think they can and certainly hope they can. I'm glad they are where they are - I don't think they made any bozo moves and overall given what room they had I think they've done a solid job. They do need to address the secondary though - even with Gordon/JJ/Smith coming back, I think it would be nice to add a bit more there (or bring back Brisker on a 1yr deal). Defensive line I expect to be addressed via the draft.
