I don't see him making much more than a practice squad player to be honest. He has decent 10 yd split and lateral quickness, but he doesnt have a route tree and being smaller is a injury liability. If we need a returner to get by, maybe he gets elevated.

right, and we have Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas for those roles. Squirrel might go to the practice squad, I agree, but that's all he is at least until he develops over multiple years.

But in no world does he run anything like a 4.28, or even a 4.5

Im not sure where that came from. Ive seen he was clocked at 23 mph or something but no official 40 times until combine. Im all for checking him out, be great if he can be a Tank Dell, but not holding my breathe. I think we are going to need another big WR to challenge Odunze next year.

My post was about finding an Odunze replacement next year. Walker might be it, but until he shows more, hes not a #1 X WR. Fill-in, yes.

There is some questions but barring injury we are going to have a talented WR room. Lots of fans and pundits were cheering DJ Moore leaving so Burden and Rome can get a larger role are the same ones saying we need more at WR. Kalif Raymond will have a bigger role than expected. He wanted to sign with BJ over being the third WR in Detroit. BJ will find plays for Zavion Thomas. I can see him getting some snaps at RB considering his speed and the other speed we have on the team.

Squirrel White was a second place Alabama 100 meter sprinter when coming out of High School. As a prospect he was listed at 4.37 speed. In 2024 while at the U of Tenn, he was clocked at 23.4 MPH of which they used their GPS system on all their players. If you watch tape he looks more like a 4.3 player than a 4.63 that he did at his pro day. He had a 40.6 inch vertical. It is reported that before his pro day he had a PCL strain he was nursing that he got working out for his pro day. I couldnt find collaboration about the 4.28 report but he is definitely a 4.3 speedster.

on all the official sites, Squirrel White ran a 4.63 (or was it 4.64?) forty at his pro day this year.

Rumors of a significantly faster time some time in 2024 are just rumors. If he could run that fast, he would have run better than a 4.6+ in front of all the scouts in advance of the draft.

He is not a 4.3 guy or even a 4.5 guy. Thats just a fact.

How fast is 23.4 MPH ? Usain Bolt's 100m world record (9.58 seconds, 2009) remains unbroken. Average speed: ~23.35 mph (37.58 km/h or 10.44 m/s).

We're putting a lot of enery into a 170lb UDFA WR which is one of the roster positions where we have good depth. The AI tells me that as of 2023 there were a total of 6 WRs in the NFL who weighed 170lbs or less. Whatever Squirrel becomes in the NFL it's not likely to be much, nor for long but we'll see.

He's a speed guy that will get a chance to compete for a spot, probably end up on the PS, as far as a long term asset, very doubtful. At a time when the draft has settled in, just something to talk about.

Eye test, during game play, says he's very fast. The 4.6 was on a strained PCL. More info is out on the 4.28 than the other.

there is no reputable source that he ran a 4.28 - he would have been drafted if that were true.

Just because a media narrative catches fire does not mean it is true. We've seen that over and over.

4.6 is fast enough for a WR if they run good routes. Keenan Allen was around a 4.6 - but you cant call him a speed receiver, it's just not true.

The PCL sprain was something he said he was dealing with from the 2024 season, which carried into the spring of 2025. He was never officially clocked for that 4.28 40 time, but wore the Catapult System in 2023 and was recorded hitting 23.4 mph. He was not a combine invite but a FSU pro-day ran 4.63. His testing and measurables are bad, but why not take a look at him and see if by fall he improves because he was a phenom his sophomore year at Tennessee.

We can now put the Squirrel to rest and look at the Vanilla Gorilla because the TTNL guy, Phil, said he was one of the few linemen he wanted the Bears to draft.

The VG seems like that European guy we had on the practice squad a couple of years ago. Not a fluid mover.

Id say by the amount the Bears paid him, he will stick around. I haven't seen any of his tape but hope if he was a heavily targeted player that coach Roushar sees potential to mold him into the future RG. Jonah Jackson could be a cap casualty after 2026 season costing 10 mil dead cap but 13 mil savings. Might not be worth the 3 million gain, but possible.
