There are a lot of smart people on here, this will be my opinion.(do me a favor and dont spend 200 mil )(Anybody can list a bunch of good players, but need to fit in our cap) First of all I dont care for Tucker, but think he will get one more year to prove himself when he gets total control of the defense.(didnt have it this year) Players still here: Briggs,Conte,Peppers,Paea,Bostic, Greene,Frey,Washington,McCellen----------I think Peppers,and SCM are gone Players we resign: I think we bring back Jennings, Bowman,Anderson,Collins, Radliff ,Bass We pick up in FAgency: Bennet is signed to replace Peppers, also a CB and S (have yet to go over FAs) Draft: 1st round: Truitt/ND/DE-DT I think he will be slotted around our pick and can play either position depending on how our line fallls into place. 2nd round: Verrit/TCU/CB He will fit into our defense 3rd round: Swanson/Ark/OC We need to upgrade the OL every year 4th round: Ward/NIU/ S Can become a playmaker 5th round: Fales/SJS/QB A project for Trestman to work with 6th round: Shelton/Wash/DT Adds some beef to our rotation 6th round: Byndom/T/CB Had some size and speed, had a better 2012 season AS FAR AS THE DRAFT GOES SLOTS WILL CHANGE AS FAR AS THE PLAYERS LISTED(WHAT I WENT WITH AT THIS TIME) Conclusion: We cant rebuild the defense in one year. We will still be bad but will see improvement and have some young players to develop DBs-Frey,Jennings,Bowman,Conte,Ward,Byndom,FA signing, FA signing LBers-Anderson, Bostic, Briggs,Greene, a couple of FA signing to fill the roster DL-Bennett,Paea,Truitt,Wooten,Bass,Shelton,Radliff,Collins,Washington Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The team cannot afford to take a 4million cap hit in dead space, then they would also have to pay for his replacement. I see this with Peppers also, but hope they can re write his contract to be more cap friendly. I love the Tuitt thought, he has size/speed. Can play DT in the 4-3 or DE in the 3-4. Also, comes from the University of Notre Dame! 2nd Round pick, I'd be happy with Verrit CB or if SS Dion Bailey from USC is available. Bailey played the WLB and SS for Monte Kiffen's Tampa2. He's known as a ball hawk and playing LB we know he can play the run as well. 3rd Round, I'd think Center also would be great with Swanson and Stork slotted around this round. As for CB, Seattle has done great at finding 6th round prospects. They drafted the tall DB's like Sherman and have turned out great. I hope whoever is DC next season, we run some 3-4. scs787 Posted December 28, 2013 Report Share Posted December 28, 2013 No complaints here...If you're letting Tillman and Melton go you might even have enough $$ to bring in a proven stud safety like Jarius Byrd as well(even if Cutler id resigned around 12-15M a year). Not sure Swanson makes it to the 3rd round though. I can also see Ward shooting up the draft a bit after the senior bowl...Maybe get him in the 3rd and get an OC in the 4th. SMC stays because of the contract. Tillman and Jennings stay. Conte gets escorted out of Halas Hall by security. Move to the 3-4. 1. HaHa Clinton-Dix, FS, Bama - An absolute stud who starts day one 2. Anthony Johnson, DT, LSU - Can get after the passer and plays tough. Starts day one if Melton is let go. 3. Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford - Smart player who is always in the right spot. A beast. Peppers - Paea - Johnson (Collins, Ratcliff back ups) SMC - Briggs - Skov - Bostic. (Greene is rotational, and Briggs gets to choose where he feels best) Peanut - HHCD - Wright - Jennings (Bowman back up) Kind of soft up front, but tons of athleticism. Blitzes from everywhere. Extra LB helps erase the over pursuit problems from this year. Maximizes SMC's ability. Allows for lots of zone blitzing from a variety of locations. That's not what you want from a DT in that scheme...in that scheme, the DT's job is to "Not be moved" so that the defense can't run right up the middle. All reports I've seen say he has demanded double and sometimes triple teams in college, and he's still managed to be good against the run. I would love a stud S, we need a need team leader on D and that would do it. Also I like the idea of a tackle machine at MLB, I think Skov would be that and then move Bostic to his natural position Briggs holds now. Jarius Byrd who's been mentioned in this thread. Aquib Talib and Alterraun Verner are a couple CB's who might look good in a Bears uni another who is a former Bear could bring back Corey Graham. I think we need to sign Bennett/DE and TJ Ward for free agency and then we still need to draft a S,DT and MLB. Jason was on track with his draft proposal. It's more of a luxury, but the depth at the position is scary bad. If Bennett finds himself on IR this year, the Bears offense becomes much worse.
