  2. Good catch! It is one of many reasons I am all-in with Johnson as HC. He accepts that he also needs to be accountable for not only the team's success but also its failures. Accountability applies to coaches as well as players.
  3. Today

  4. It’s worth noting that part of that session was Ben reviewing the play call and did he setup Caleb and the offense for success.
  5. I read an interesting article about a film study session Caleb had with BJ. They sat down together and watched every incomplete pass Caleb threw during the 2025 season (238 passes). Did he throw it away? If so, was there a receiver he could have thrown to? If thrown to a receiver, was it a catchable pass or did the receiver simply drop the pass? Was there a different receiver open that would have been a better option? Was his pass in the optimal position to allow the receiver to not only catch the pass but also to allow him a chance to maximize YAC? Damn, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall and watched them go over the plays. I also read where Caleb lost 15 pounds. Looking good, especially with losing the beard and now with chin whiskers and a mustache.
  6. The record for points per game in the 17 game era was the Lions at 33.4 a game in 2024 when BJ was there. I think BJ will top that this year 35 to 36 a game. Lots of mouths to feed and Caleb is the guy to feed everyone.

  8. Jalen Carter got 38 mil per this morning...
  9. yeah I know its a longshot. Im not predicting anything, even if he does get traded there are many suitors apparently, Im just saying, it would be great to have him if we could because he is a beast. There is certainly no clear connection between Vae and the Bears anywhere Ive seen, just football talk, and thats me here too LOL
  10. 32 years old JULY 29: Vea is holding in at camp, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports, though head coach Todd Bowles said the lineman tweaked his back during a running test on Tuesday (via Greg Auman of Fox Sports). Bowles added that the Bucs have not had any talk of trading Vea.
  11. its a little steep given his age, but someone will probably pat it because he is such a game changer. Also, maybe we can trade a player to lessen the cost. I'd trade anyone on the DL except for Booker or Sweat, and Id trade Kyler Gordon if possible. I dont know what kind of money he wants for his new contract, that would probably be the deciding factor for me if he was available to us. Spotrac says $31.5M /year - hes probably worth that. Id love to see him on our team, i think adding him would make us instant Super Bowl contenders. We might already be that now, but with Vae, we'd finally have that pass rush (and run stopping!) that we've been lacking. I guess it comes down to what kind of player you think he will be in 3 years. If you think he will stay at his level of production, then it's worth doing, if you think he will drop off, then not. And that decision is above my pay grade. I can see what a disruptor he is now on film, but I dont have an opinion on how long he will maintain that level of play.
  12. Vea is better than anyone we have but 3 things stand out for me. DA is moving to a quicker DL, Vea does 5.1 which is great for a man that size but adding a slow DT that is going to cost 25+mil a year doesnt seem to be the direction we are going in. He is also 31 years old. Not sure that is idea for a younger team. As AZ said, we tried adding a vet for good money in Jarrett and that wasnt a success. None of this seems like a good idea for me. At 31 , you may get him for a 3rd round (maybe) but if he is good as everyone thinks, 2nd is more likely.;
  13. The Bucs are reportedly wanting a 2nd rounder for Vea.
  14. well the others are off the books next year, and Vae is a true stud? Hes probably the best DT in the league?
  15. Yes he’d make us better but I don’t want another old over-paid DT on the roster. Poles needs to hold off and let things play out before deciding what player or position to add. If they really want a NT they can always find one in the draft. They do not go early.
  16. I know its a longshot, but Vita Vae would elevate this defense immediately. Maybe we can trade Kyler Gordon for him :)
  17. Last week

  18. It still feels like they will bring in a vet at Edge if they don't like what they see in the next few weeks.
  19. People on X think I am bias about the Bears, I posted this.
  20. I think the added speed will help the overall production of the DL. Street can also play some snaps outside. We have added 4 new players and two existing players are coming back from injury. There is room for better upside over last year. A lot of unknown creates doubt. Like AZ said, players fitting DA's scheme should add to the production.
  21. yeah, like i said its rumors not reports. I surely dont KNOW anything. But capwise we cant afford to cut him right now, but we could absolutely trade him. If we sued etc, we might be able to recover some money from the player (unlikely) but to get cap relief, I dunno if thats possible.
  22. Theres plenty of room for growth without being great, i agree. We were AWFUL last year on defense. I hope this year we will me mediocre. If we get to 16th ranked, that could be enough. But after next year's draft and free agency i think it's a whole new ballgame on the defensive front.
  23. AZ54 replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
Yes but I’m curious what the new emphasis on technique and fundamentals does. I don’t think it will suddenly make Dexter the fastest guy off the line but it might help him better apply leverage and play to his strengths. He’s never going to be the guy who runs around someone but he needs to learn how soften edges of blockers. My hope is they can help everyone be just 10-20% more productive. Enough to get off the field on third and long.
  24. I'm thinking, if we know they know. If rumors are true, cut his ass, with contract violation. Let the courts play it out. At least, you've sent a message to an ascending team. Hopefully, none of it is true...
  25. cool - I dont know anything about him, Id forgotten him honestly. I agree that Muhammad is there to replace Stevenson, but i thought it Gordon was injured, he might play there. But Cam Lewis. Cool. Im here for it.
  26. I dont personally think we have much on the DL except the upside of Booker, a DE2. Sweat is OK, but he's a DE2 as well. We dont have anyone ont he DL who opposing offenses have to talk about, no less be afraid of. There are some intriguing rookies, but they arent blue chip sure things. So I think the whole thing gets torn apart and put together again next year. Just like he did with the OL last year. Edit - of course I hope to be wrong about this.
  27. I think it’s Cam Lewis we’ll see at NB. He’s a good player, versatile, just not special. I believe they’ll leave Muhammed outside to push Stevenson, and that’s his more natural fit anyway. Trying to fit a rookie into two positions is not ideal, but sometimes luck is on your side. I think early on they’ll also leave Thieneman at safety to learn those roles. However, last year at Oregon he proved he can play at NB and that might be an option later in the season. Coby Bryant can do a little of that too. I’m not totally enamored with our depth at Safety but if Allen feels confident enough in someone like Hicks, I could see scenarios with Gordon injured where he puts 3 safeties on the field as opposed to the traditional NB. That might cause some confusion in a QB’s reads depending how players shift at the snap. If they start tinkering with the DBs later in camp that might be a little something to watch. Or if we pick up a DB after cuts.
  28. Possibly, it depends how the guys they have now look being healthier and having a year under their belt in the scheme. Dexter, I think, said it took them a while to understand their assignments and going into camp this year they will now know. This helps DA having them know the scheme and having more healthy players to add wrinkles. DA was kind of handcuffed getting so many new starters up to speed, like nearly the whole back 7. At least next week we will get the camp updates.
