Trade Rumors
Bagent or Brissett was benched in Arz. Would the Bears trade Bagent knowing they just went all in and are hovering the top NFC spot?
-
D'Andre Swift ...
I think Ben is getting better at calling red zone plays. He needs to stay away from being cute, let your his Right G and T pave the way, and keep caleb under center with Swift/Monangai in I. Take the 3 pts if up by 7. Seeing more of that, which is good.
Today

D'Andre Swift ...
Leads the NFL in Rushing TDs (10) and is tied for the NFL lead in total TDs (10). He also has more TDs than the entire Chargers team (9) this season.

Speechless in Seattle?

Trade Rumors
Huntley now out of the season as well in Baltimore. Bagent to BAL seems more likely by the day (if the price is right).
-
Caleb Williams - Winning QB
With the win in SEA, he is now officially a winning QB, at 20-19 for his career. He is already 9th in Bears history for Passing Yards and should pass Ed Brown, Billy Wade, Erik Kramer, and Mitch Trubisky by the end of the year to move into 5th all-time (in Year 3 lol). He even has a chance to pass Jim McMahon for 4th. He has the lowest INT% of any QB in NFL history for the number of games he has played. Every game played, he sets the new record for that amount of game and pass attempts. Pretty wild. The Year 3 leap is here. He already has 2x 300-yd games (had only 1 last year), 3 games over 70% Comp%, his best game last year was 67.9%. He has never thrown more than 1 INT in a regular season game under Johnson, and his last 2 INT game was the 3rd game of his rookie season. He has thrown a TD in 11 straight games (that he has finished) dating back to last year. From watching the MNF game and even the NE game, Caleb has total command of this offense. This feels sustainable, and with the addition of Simmons, the defense should be more consistent.

Trade Rumors
I'd bring him back. 1st, we could re-sign him without giving up any draft capital. 2nd, he's a gadget guy; he can play safety, CB, slot... 3rd, he was productive for us. Tackled ok, a few sacks, turnovers. Not a blue-chip player by any means, but better than some of the DBs we currently have. Yes, he's a "bad boy". Put a dog collar on him and give Simmons the leash. He'll behave. LOL

I was left speechless after the game last night. The first thought going through my mind was "that's what good teams do". We controlled the game. There were some mistakes, it got close, and we just said nah, ain't gonna happen like that. Never was that more apparent than when we got a delay of game penalty at the goal line late in the game. Ben stayed with the run play and Swift punched it right into the endzone. We've been on the receiving end of too many of those games, except this wasn't being done to a bad team it was done to the best defense on their home field. Caleb has not hit his ceiling. There are still plays to be made, easy ones. When he gets there, and he will, everyone will know. I was very glad to see his quickness and burst coming back. After the bye he should be back to where he's comfortable sprinting again. Jefe Simmons is easily worth two first round picks. I don't even see how that can be debated.

Schedule Release
A win against TB and they go 7-2 into the bye.
-
Blue Chips...
Jackson is playing at an All-Pro level at RG as well. I would count him as 8 on offense. Simmons, Gordon, Thieneman are probably the only 3 on defense. Sweat, Muhammad, and Monangai are the fringe guys for me. I think Sweat elevates now that Simmons is here. Bryant hasn't played, so hard to count him yet.
-
Tankathon vs Playoff Odds
Now at 6-2 with TB, the bye, and NO in the next 3 weeks. They have a great shot at being 8-2 heading to DET for Thanksgiving.

Trade Rumors
CB is a greater need for sure. Steveson has allowed 5 TDs this season and QBs basically have a perfect passer rating against him. Johnson hasn't allowed a TD but has been horrible in coverage, a penalty machine, and an unwilling tackler. Also, CJ Gardner-Johnson was released by BUF.

Year 2 QB QBR Tracker
Caleb is now 5th in QB Rating (104.6), 2nd in Comp% (70.9%), 4th in CPOE (+4.7%), 3rd in EPA/DB (+0.22), and 2nd in QBR (77.0). No matter the metric used, he is a legit top 5 QB. A fun fact, the Bears have no trailed since Caleb returned from injury, they have either been tied 0-0 or led, amazing.

This was always absolutely ridiculous because Williams was never like Love in any way, and he always had the highest floor of the group. So the bust label was butt hurt media members.

Year 2 QB QBR Tracker
I've never been a big fan of the "football experts" and their predictions because of stuff like this. If someone like Sam Darnold can win a Super Bowl before his draft mate Josh Allen, who really knows how these guys will turn out in the long run? So far, four of these guys have made the playoffs, and one has already played in a Super Bowl. Hopefully, by this time next year, we'll have another one who has not only made it to the Super Bowl but won it.

Blue Chips...
At the beginning of Poles term, we discussed the Polian mantra of needing 12+ Blue Chip players to be in the window. Let's dive in. On offense we have Caleb, Thuney, Wright, Swift, Loveland, Burden and Odunze. There's 7, with potentially our rookie center. On defense we have Simmons, Gordon, Bryant and Thieneman. There's 4, with Sweat, Jackson, Jarrett, Booker and Muhammad on the bubble. Can we make Ben Johnson our 12th?

1 game at a time. Bucs have backs to the wall and are a well coached team with an elite defense and elite running game...plus Baker at QB who is more than serviceable. Bucs are going to try and make us make mistakes and bludgeon us....Bears got to stay focus and play sharp here.

Trade Rumors
I will go on record - I don't have any desire for Mack unless it is near free. I'll roll with our current DE's + Shemar and Ayo coming back and what we have over Mack. With that said - I would be all-in if we could trade valuable draft capital for a dynamic corner back. For example - if I could get a legit DB for a 2nd and future pick I would legitimately consider it, as long as that piece was out there. Sauce is injured so a bad example, but he's a 25 year old DB...I can't imagine Colts move him for less than a FRP, but if I could get him for a 2nd and a 3rd or a 2nd and future 2nd I think I would highly consider that type of move.

The good: Caleb Williams - Had he not missed 3 games, he would be the MVP front runner. That's how good he's been. Should still be in the conversation anyways after tonight. Jeffery Simmons - Instant impact superstar. Defense can be scary if they add another DL/CB Austin Booker - Lowkey had two major plays, a blocked FG and a tipped pass that lead to a critical interception that allowed them to seal the game. The bad: Colston Loveland - Can't put the ball on the ground. Hands are not as reliable as they were last year. Needs to be better moving forward. Run game - They ran it effectively enough, but it's clear they miss Monangai. They're just not getting as many explosives and it's putting more of a burden on the QB to do everything. Need to get that fixed coming out of the bye. Special teams - Minus the blocked FG, they looked bad, again, last night. Coverage was bad, too many penalties, Tory Taylor's punts weren't particularly good, and Zavion Thomas is looking like a bad 3rd round pick through 8 games. No vision on his returns. Corners - Another atrocious ending to halftime, giving up another TD with hardly any time left after the offense had just scored. Johnson and Stevenson are the two literal worst cornerbacks in football. Can't allow that to happen anymore. Poles needs to find someone on the market. Final thoughts: What a statement game from this team. They were already Superbowl contenders before this game, but a blowout win like this, against that opponent, in the hardest stadium to play at, was a thing of beauty. They just might be the best team in the NFL. There's nobody they can't beat now with Simmons. They need to finish off Tampa Bay and go into the bye at 7-2 before hopefully getting some more guys back, and who knows, maybe another player or two via trade? If I were Ryan Poles, I am going to be even more aggressive than I was planning to be before after watching that game.
