Possibly, but Cousins signed a 4-yr deal a month before they drafted Penix. Darnold also signed a one-year deal with Minnesota before they drafted McCarthy. The timing just seemed off on both of those deals. Then Minnesota doubled down on bad after McCarthy got hurt, Darnold led them to a 14-3 season, with 35 TD to 12 INT, over 4,300 yards, and instead of righting the wrong, they let him walk and roll with McCarthy. Darnold repeated his play with SEA, now 12-3 while MIN is 7-8 in last place and McCarthy is injured for the 4th time.

Early on there were a lot of concerns about the Bears picking Loveland over Warren (or a DT, Edge, or OT). Warren came out of the gate on fire and was really looking like one of the best TEs in the league while Loveland was still recovering from surgery and getting limited playing time. Right now Warren's raw stats look better, but those are essentially padded by playing time. Warren has 200 more offensive snaps than Loveland and 41 more targets. However, since November, Loveland has been one of the best TEs in the league. In that span, he beats Warren in every category. Warren has been pretty bad the last few weeks, with only 8 catches on 21 targets, for a total of 64 yards. Loveland had 4-63 against CLE alone. This has actually turned out to be one of the better TE classes with Warren, Loveland, Fannin, and Gadsden all with over 500 yards receiving as rookies.

SF jumped up with that win. Now it is #5 CHI vs #8 SF. A Bears win and they would move into the top 3, an SF win, and they would move into the top 5. Huge game.
-
To be fair, 22 of Purdy's 34 attempts were to McCaffrey, Kittle, and Jennings. Of the 62 offensive plays that weren't kneel downs, McCaffrey was targeted or carried the ball 29 times, almost 50% of the offense. Purdy had 2 carries for 11 yards, so it was not like he was scrambling either. The Bears need to do whatever it takes to take McCaffrey out of the game. Force someone else to beat you.

If you need any more evidence about Caleb Williams, check out Jahdae Walker's presser from yesterday. Walker stated Caleb called him after a home game earlier this season and asked him to meet him at the indoor facility, where they proceeded to practice and run routes for 3-4 hours, after a game, Caleb is calling up a UDFA rookie to get him extra reps and work on whatever he needed to work on. How crazy is that? Then in Week 16, this dude is called upon to make a game-tying TD on 4th Down. Impressive.

that was really entertaining. -
The fact that Purdy threw five TDs to McCaffrey, a hobbled Kittle, and three dudes I couldn’t pick out of a lineup is very worrisome. If the DL doesn’t get pressure, this could be a difficult game.
-
Have to contain McCaffrey. Kittle didn't finish the game, left with an ankle injury.

The 49'ers are starting to look like a scary team. Just a complete evisceration of the Colts defense tonight. Almost 50 points. It looked like they were running routes on air the entire game. They haven't punted since November 30th! Unless the Bears can dominate time of possession, I have a feeling this game could get ugly.
-
I don't know about that. The top OT's got picked before us, so Loveland was the guy. If we don't draft a penetrator, I'll be shocked.
-
I wonder if they moved them for the same reason the Bears did with Fields. They didn't want that player, who just had his replacement drafted, around to spoil their investment.
-
I think Dayo will play inside more next year where he is more effective. We ain't getting rid of him so hope he responds. With our Cap definitely we will rely on the draft to get better. Booker is starting to get a better game now.
-
At first I wanted SF to lose but I hope they win so we knock them out of the potential first seed. That's a playoff game next week.
-
Hope several make it, the OL, Byard, Wright and Blackwell deserve it. Especially if we keep winning.
-
I wouldn't bet a lot that they go D line with their first myself, but they will address the position this offseason. Last year we were both certain they would go LT and I don't recall seeing TE let alone Loveland on anyone's Bingo card. We will all expect and mock DT/DE but who knows who is available.

Right, and that isnt to say there arent a bunch of Bears players that absolutely deserve it either!

I didn't like the fake ranking systems that just used "feels" to figure out how good teams are, so I made my own. On the left I have a raw score, then on the far right, a weighted ranking. The Bears are 10th raw and 5th weighted which takes into account turnover differential. I am adding Explosive Differential next to make it even more refined. However, without knowing the outcome beforehand, Rams being #1 and Jaguars being #2 (after beating DEN) feels pretty good. Does any team look out of place? Just based on tiers, LAR is in their own tier, then JAX, SEA, HOU, and CHI are probably in Tier 2, followed by BUF, DEN, and NE.

If SF loses to IND, the Bears should be favored the last two weeks. SEA has to play in CAR, and then in SF to close out the season. They just have to lose one of those for the Bears to have a shot at the #1 Seed. LAR should easily win out against ATL and ARZ to finish 13-4 and 8-4. So depending on what SEA does, they could end up as a 13-win 5-seed playing an away playoff game in CAR or TB. GB @ CHI (3rd meeting in 6 weeks) SF @ PHI SEA/LAR @ CAR/TB (CAR beat LAR, TB beat SEA) The Divisional Round could then look like: PHI/SF @ CHI (Week 13 or 17 Rematch) LAR @ SEA (3rd meeting in 10 weeks) NFCC: CHI @ SEA or LAR @ CHI (This would be crazy, because the 5th seed would have to travel to the East Coast for the Wild Card, then to SEA/LAR for the Divisional round, then potentially to CHI for the NFCC. No matter the outcome, the #1 seed is more than likely playing the #5 Seed in the Divisional Round, which should be SEA or LAR, unless the 6 or 7 seed wins in the Wild Card round. You only want to have to play the #1 seed or the #5 seed, not both because they could be the top 2 teams in the conference.

Yes, but GB isn't likely to lose out. That's why I said they'll probably be eliminated before the week 18 game.
-
I'm sure Detroit will have plenty of motivation. Question: If they win out, and GB drops their next two, doesn't that give them 2nd place in the NFCN? If yes, does that put Detroit in as #7 seed?
-
If the Bears can beat SF this week, I think they have a pretty good shot at the #1 seed. SEA has to go to CAR and SF to finish the year, and DET (the Bears week 18 opponent) probably won't have anything to play for.
