and for PFF grades, only Turner was graded "below average" which is quite impressive considering the snap counts. Loveland - 85.9 Burden - 77.9 Trapilo - 76.8 Turner - 59.4 Hyppolite - 69.2 Frazier - 85.9 Newman - 71.9 Monangai - 77.3

I'm guessing, 9 outta 10 times, the coach gets a, "what do you think" before the trigger gets pulled. After that, everybody goes back to their Hollywood stage marks for the hype film.

This has definitely been a beast of an off season. We are champions for the three peat. Jokes aside, I love what Poles and company have done. Getting the staff in place exceeded my expectations. The five trench players acquired before the draft are all upgraded starters. The draft fell awkwardly to us, but Poles found several future starters and special teamers. We became much stronger in the trenches and faster at the skills. And we are still in solid cap space. Very solid job. We talked about blue chip players in the past. If Caleb, Rome and Coleston emerge, I believe the team will be at 13 and rising.
-
Yup! Good catch. Less mileage. Faster, taller and better in and out of cuts. Lastly, better RAC. I'll give Warren the size and physicality.
-
Rule one of football: low man wins!
-
Also, while Monangai is smaller than Montgomery (5’8 211 v. 5’10” 222), their 40 times and 10 yard splits are virtually identical (Monangai is 4.6/1.54 and Montgomery was 4.6/1.55).
-
Correct, and both had 13x 100 yard rushing games in their last two seasons. Production-wise, those numbers are really close.
-
So it is Monty - I’m going to say Monty is player B.
-
I totally jacked that up, cutting and pasting. That's what I get for reading crap at 5am lol. One was Big Ten, one was Big 12.
-
I’ll guess on was A train albeit I thought he was a second rounder? Or is one the MSU back Langford (thought he was more a 4th rounder)?
-
Newman is definitely a sleeper pick, which is interesting coming from a Big Ten school. He played LT at Holy Cross and was the 5th highest rated OT in college football in 2023 according to PFF. He was also graded out as the 31st and 32nd best OT the two years prior to that.
-
I know there were some discussions about Warren vs Loveland, but one other factor that sometimes doesn't get enough attention is age. Loveland is two years younger than Warren.
-
I saw an interesting comp (there are many). Both Big Ten RBs, both drafted by the Bears, both will be used in a Ben Johnson offense. One was a 7th rounder, and one was a 3rd rounder. Guess the players: RB A - last 2 seasons: 498-2541, 5.1 YPC, 21 TD RB B - last 2 seasons: 515-2362, 4.6 YPC, 24 TD

Funny if you swap a few picks around, they ultimately end up near where they were ranked. Swap Turner and Trapilo, move Monangai up to the 4th, move Frazier over Hyppolite and the values are in line with the consensus big boards. Loveland - TE2 1st Round Grade Burden - WR3 1st-2nd Round Grade Turner - DT6 2nd Round Grade Trapilo - OT7 3rd Round Grade Monangai - RB20 4th-5th Grade Frazier - CB23 5th-6th Grade Hyppolite - LB35 UDFA Newman - OG22 UDFA

and if you got back another year, I think there were at least 3-4 other games Flus'd, so this roster really was a 8 to 9 win, cusp of the playoffs, type of roster. So getting to 10 or 11 wins seems reasonable.
-
Oh yeah for sure, I think the trenches have to get addresses every year, regardless how good your top guys are.
-
I dunno. My guess is that Johnson gives poles names he wants, and they make player evals and rankings and do scenarios, but on the day, i think Poles plays the board. And to some degree Cunningham. But I dont think that Johnson on the day has input to how much we offer to trade up or down for a player? Or when to make a pick and when to trade back? That should be Poles job in a normal organization?
-
for sure. and he is a big guy. I just think moving Wright was a plan B kind of idea, and taking Trapilo sort of implies that Wright is likely to move to LT.
-
lol well played

I dont think any therapist would agree with that. people are not just in an optimistic mood or a pessimistic mood and thats what makes them think what they think about football moves. People just have opinions. They arent all manifestations of some inner positive or negative worldview. You make it sound like the opinions are involuntary responses rather than reasoned ideas. Maybe some people are, but lots of people just think about the facts and try to reach conclusions without being driven by some inner theme.
-
First of all, I responded to Adam and he equally goes both sides. ( Observation) To say someone is pessimistic or optimistic doesn't mean 100% it could be 60-40 to one side or the other. If a therapist was looking at our board they could easily say a person leans one way or the other. It's not a defined statement. It can change according to things going on in your life. It's just an observation. Example Jason learns half empty and he makes note of it himself. No one would ever mistake me as a pessimist.
-
I think when they talked about who to draft Johnson is in on the conversation and it's a consensus pick. If something fails, he Was part of it.
-
It could come down to they liked Trapilo better. After they commit to trading down, it's the board that determines the next choice.
-
I think Warren interfered

suddenly it ALL makes sense now. Its part of the conspiracy to keep Shadeur Sanders out of the league LOL Velus Jones was a plant.
