1 min left and don’t know who will win tonight but I do know that I’m glad we have Caleb over Drake Maye.

Division news
Last year was magic. Caleb was ineffective in the first three quarters of games. Cardiac kids, Captain comeback and the Iceman were all great to watch. The first two did not progress. Caleb must progress for us to succeed. The last minute wins are not a sustainable practice. We all have faith. Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Anyone of those 7 comeback wins out of the 11 could have changed our optimism. All I am saying is Detroit and Green Bay have every right to be as enthusiastic to be good as we do and the way they played us last year, they should be. We are always overhyped until the games are played and we see this unstoppable dream team sputtter and the board swearing begins

How many games did we win last year? I am optimistic and not using the word (but). I get it, its a lack of trust you have, that is the difference, I trust until I get shown last year was a fluke.

Im optimistic too but Detroit whooped our arses, GB was whooping it, and we gave JJ a comeback W. It comes down to Caleb being able to perform all 4 quarters and we havent seen much of that. He should improve but until then I will be excited but not like the GB fans.

I lived in that mindset for so many years, I am flying with my positivity of Caleb and BJ, the key to our success going forward. Of course we have questions but we have a maniac for a coach and he aint putting up with losing. LT is not a problem. He values center and we got the best center in the draft and a vet that had no sacks or penalties. We have weapons. Defense has ?s but we have to see how the players they assembled do. Throw this vibe back in my face in a couple of months and say (I told you), but Im not even going there for now.

Completely agree. The offense needs to give the defense leads. If that doesn't happen, don't count on the last minute stuff. Ever...

53 man roster predictions
I think the DL will be much better against the run and if we have a lead it will force offenses to try to catch up plus having a more rested defense, it will be better. I think our LBer group is a lot better than last year with more speed. NB will hurt but I think the other S spot wont be a big problem.

Thats a good way to look at it and encouraging.

the grades were ridiculous, 8 teams had C+ or lower, with a bunch of F's. It made no sense.

53 man roster predictions
The offense will be better this year, I am assuming at least 3+ pts per game more, if not higher. At worst, I see the defense being about the same as last year, less takeaways, but fewer yards allowed, which will equate to similar pts allowed results. There seems to be a theme that the defense got considerably worse, and that is just not true. Brisker was serviceable, no different than Woods. Thieneman doesn't have the vet savvy as Byard but he will close the gaps a lot faster cutting down on those little extra yards that add up. Bush is a massive upgrade over Edmunds who never lived up to his physical stature. van den Berg is more disruptive than Dexter and will also help cut down on those hidden yards. Gordon barely played last year and when he did, he was solid but not great. McCloud played more and was terrible. Lewis may not be Gordon, but he is better than McCloud. Jarrett played hurt all year long, he is healthy and will be better. Sweat and Edwards are always solid, Jackson has played great, so the only real question mark is DE2 with Booker/Odeyingbo. If either are just league average, the defense will be fine imo. PFF Grades from last year: Byard 74.2 > Thieneman 65.5 (slight downgrade) Edmunds 66.5 > Bush 87.6 (huge upgrade) Wright 65.1 > Johnson 76.2 (upgrade) Brisker 60.5 > Woods 65.5 (wash) Dexter 57.6 > van den Berg 74.9 (Preseason) Gordon 59.2 > Lewis 57.4 (wash from Gordon last year). McCloud had a 49.9 grade. (upgrade from McCloud) Jarrett hurt > Jarrett healthy (slight upgrade)

If it wasn't for late game heroics, Green Bay would have defeated us 3 times. Detroit smoked us game one and a little closer game 2, but still a L. Minny was a split. I am not sure the Bears added enough to be acting as if they will win the division. It will be a fight and we may not get those late game heroics now that the NFL has studied that film

I have been looking at other division podcasts. Viking fans are realistic, of course Lions fan think they will win the division but its very funny that the Packers fans think they are going to the SB. The Jacobs conflict only make them think Love is going to breakout season and be an MVP candidate. Once Parsons come back, that their D will be top 5 . Its very funny to me. Does anyone think that is remotely possible?

Im not complaining, but did get a D rating from Yahoo. No #2 RB and average at QB.

The old saying , anyone can beat anyone is true but its not happening this week. We lost our last game and BJ is going to come out on high alert. We started slow last year but that was the first year in the system, not this year. We are going to pound the ball against a bad run defense and scheme the big plays off the play action. The TEs will eat the Panthers alive. The Panthers has new OTs and C. It will take awhile for them to get up to speed. They have a stud in Derrick Brown but all new LBers. Edge rushes are ranked 28th in the league (ESPN) , the strength will be their DBs but BJ will scheme them out of the plays. Their running game is ranked 28th and WRs 23rd. This offense will not do well trying to comeback on being down early in the game. 41-19.

Kyler Gordon
When Gordon changes teams, Rappaport will get the scoop. And from other players with the same management too.

Really hoping Romes injury is minor and he is able to go out and take a big step forward and be a stud!

Just 5 but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them reward a game day captain as we get into the season https://bearswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bears/2026/09/08/chicago-bears-captains-2026-caleb-williams/91650479007/

Has the team designated Captains? I read (or heard on a broadcast, not sure which) that the Rams named 11 Team Captains. I guess they couldn't make up their minds, said, "What the heck?" and elected them all.

Ben said today the players still need to earn the start with a good week of practice. Basically he was asked about the WRs and said they will pencil them in after the week of practice. Then was asked about Braxton and he said the oline is no different, the designation is not official.

Kyler Gordon
The Kyler Gordon revival tour continued today now with national press coverage compliments of Ian Rappoport. Why Rappoport is carrying water for Gordon is an unknown other than he wants access to that doctor. Windy City GridironKyler Gordon Injury Update: He ‘should’ be back with the...While the Bears didn’t address the Kyler Gordon situation, we still got an update on Chicago’s nickelback. Details here from @wiltfongjr.“Bears standout CB Kyler Gordon, who is on IR with a calf injury, is away from the team working with his own trainer to accelerate recovery, sources say,” Rapoport shared on social media. “The plan is for Gordon to return a few weeks into the season and begin practicing shortly thereafter. Some optimism here.” He had a follow-up post saying, “This has been a challenging recovery, and sometimes players work best honing in with their own people. That seems to be the case here. Barring a setback, Gordon should be back sooner rather than later.”

If I were a betting man I'd take that. First un-official depth chart released by the Bears. Whatever un-official means there's not much to note here that is surprising. Cam Lewis is listed as first team NCB. We'll see how long that holds up. Jonathan Hardy is listed as 2nd team Dline with Kromah on 3rd team. I felt that would be the other way around but maybe they are making Kromah earn it on special teams. Kentavious Street replaced Dexter and Dayo is still listed as first team. Only 2 first team LBs listed with Edwards and Bush. Backups are Sanborn and D'Marco Jackson. Other oddity is that we have 2 First String TEs in Loveland and Kmet.

Damn, your team did pretty good, Bijan, London, WIlson, Bowers, Tet, and Loveland is going to win you a lot of games.
