  2. Saw something on the socials about a recent injury report that listed a slew of players with concerning notes. This is not it but still a few players of note: We all know about Bryant, Gordon and Trapilo but the one on this list that concerns me is Burden. Heard about the collision but didn't know it was a groin injury. That's concerning due to that type injury can malinger for a long time. And really the only WR of late that I knew who played through it was DJ. And even then it affected his play. The other report had no ETA for Burden's return. Meanwhile on that report I saw that Sweat was listed as injured (nothing specified) but also had "no eta" listed for his return (??). Newly acquired Cam Lewis was reportedly "carted off" with a "serious leg" injury so with he, Stevenson and Gordon all out our CB depth is getting thin really fast. On the positive side I did see Monangai was back after having a "soft tissue" issue.
  3. Lol! Aka: the turnstile
  4. Jason's favorite Tackle of all time, J'Marcus Webb, eked out a 10 year NFL career with four of those as a starter. 😏
  5. Today

  6. The only local press guy I have any trust in is Brad Biggs, he usually doesnt get caught up in rumors or at least checks out statements other pundits puts out there.
  7. I read where in coming back early , it gives him a chance to get some reps in. During the season when a player comes back , he doesnt get the same practice time in as TC. They are working on preping for the next game. It doesnt sound like he will be ready for the first game but means they probably keep him on the roster and may be available after a few weeks in. That all sounds good Bryant probably wont be playing all year. At least now we can add some bodies. Also heard where VDB could actually make the rotation on the DL. That would be a nice surprise for 6th round pick.
  8. right - hes clearly got the body, his college film is great. But the narrative is that he got injured, but the truth is that he was flaming out before that. I saw some REALLY ugly Cleveland game tape on him. But hes young, and has the tools. It's not impossible for Roushar to find the dog in him again. But we are hearing he is inconsistent in camp too. Hes young, hes learning, but do we trust Caleb's blindside to him? Hard to say. Im rooting for him, but most reclamation LT projects dont work out. Then again, hes got the best possible coaching. Here's hoping...
  9. for sure. It feels like we are going to be dangerous this year, but more of a complete roster next year. I really wish we'd done more at DE. Yeah, maybe we will get him back in time for the playoffs?
  10. Brutal - wish him all the best in his recovery!
  11. People starting to line up behind Wills: Wanny, Thayer, Harbor. Lots of NFL experience. None are saying he’s playing the best. Just saying he looks and plays the most like an NFL LT. We start to find out for ourselves this weekend.
  12. I keep seeing 4 to 6 months which best case puts him on the field in December.
  13. Come on now, Rome Odunze said he will be fine. Yes this sucks because we were excited to open up our new sports car once it was broken in, but back to the dealer it goes to get a new suspension.
  14. Injuries are part of it. It sucks because we've never seen Bryant as a Bear, but it has to be next man up. Let's hope Xavier Woods has the goods.
  15. i guess Thayer said today that he likes Wills out of the current crop of LTs. If he's better than Benedet, it's fine with me. As long as it isnt Braxton Jones.
  16. Yesterday

  17. Yeah these things are so unpredictable. On the one hand you have a guy like Trapilo who for all intents and purposes should be out for the rest of the year but may be coming back sooner. Then there's this injury, which at face value didn't seem too extreme. Now he's out for most of the year. Up to this point he'd been pretty durable. The other I'm concerned with is Burden. "Heard" his injury wasn't too bad but man it only takes one wrong twist or turn. I see the Bears signed Xavior Wooks in response to the Bryant injury. Maybe he'll have a "breakout year" under Dennis Allen much like Byard did last year?
  18. Does Byard have injury proof knees?
  19. This went south quick. Now saying 6-8 months due to knee surgery, out for the year. FFS, I know they wanted to get faster, but probably should've kept Byard and paired him with Thieneman.
  20. OK so here's some actual positive news about Trapilo. Poles saying a training camp return is possible definitely puts his timeline ahead of expectations. Even if he isnt back for camp, the fact that that's a possibility says a lot. https://x.com/HogeAndJahns/status/2087223937868423616
  21. A defensive coach like the Flus wants a great punter. The Bears have things going right for the first time and having the HC/QB right makes it much easier to build going further.
  22. To be fair, with Ben around there’s no longer any reason to feel like a punt is your best offensive play.
  23. I think BJ has changed Poles' draft mentality. We've gone from BPA need to BPA fit. If Ben were around, I wonder what the Tory Taylor pick would have been.
  24. For sure, I think there IS something amazing going on, and i think it starts with Ben Johnson. He's been drafting differently than a lot of us (myself included) have been able to predict, but he's added true talent to the team in early and late rounds both. The future sure looks bright.
  25. Getting back to basics of football. Wanny is another pundit I like As a former coach he won’t call out players too often but if it’s not good you’ll know it When he starts talking positively about guys like VDB, Wills, and, to my surprise, Hayden Large then I think there is something good going on
  26. this is it. and I even get it. how can someone truly keep their finger on the pulse of like 80 teams in pro sports? narratives and shortcuts stand in for insight. But if you watch a team closely, and especially if you watch tape of the game after the game is over from the end zone angle, when you can rewind and watch again on certain plays, then you can start to say you know a team. If all i do is watch the game, Im watching the ball, the score etc, it's hard to focus on on what just a WR who didnt get the ball is doing, or what pulled a safety away from a spot etc. So i understand why the media machine is the way it is, but I dont understand believing it. So many of the Chicago blogsters and sportswriters are narrative guys. I truly wonder if they even watch the Bears game more than just the once while it was live?
  27. National media are good for the big things like FA where the agents are working the entire league. There are some small nuggets during draft time but they focus too much on first round prospects and there is too much group think.
  28. I think that was what we were thinking a month ago as you said, so not earlier than expected. I hate stuff like that, especially when I am so thirsty about the LT anyway. I'd LOVE to hear something about Trapilo! Wannstedt had good things to say about Wills today, and he WAS a top ten first round pick with great college tape, but he flamed out in Cleveland before he even got injured. Hes interesting for sure, because hes raw, hungry, talented, and Roushar (and Armstead) are working with him. So cool. But I'll believe it when I see it because his last few weeks of NFL snaps in Cleveland 2 years ago were very ugly. I still think one way or another it's not gonna be Braxton, because I know who that guy is. And it's just not good enough.
