That is a very legit concern.

  4. The OC implemented the plays BJ called. Offensive coordinator. Everyone liked him has a bright mind but he was hired when BJ couldn't bring in who he wanted. Now older connections are available. We actually may be getting an upgrade at that position. The Jets OC, and two friends from Detroit.
  5. My problem is Maxx just had his 8th knee surgery this season. It pauses me to wonder when it will slow him down. Sweat and Crosby both had 10 sacks this year. He has missed 7 games the last two years. I prefer someone more healthy. Brought to you by San Miguel Light
  6. Id rather have Crosby too, but I think that while the cap cost will be similar, the trade cost will be too much for us. But thats just a guess.
  7. Sean Payton raved about him too. He’s a really bright mind…might be a year or two too early but he’s worked a few years with two of the better offensive minds in this league.
  8. Id be happy if you and your sponsor are right.
  9. Only if they fire the HC after 1 year. I think he will be a good OC and maybe should have been more here with all those 4th down and goals we blew.
  10. Agree on the defense overhaul. But think the targeted guy (if they go that route) is Maxx. This post brought to you courtesy of Pendleton Whisky. 🥃
  11. I have a feeling he’s a Ben Johnson coat tailer. Something tells me he’ll be unemployed by the end of next season. This post brought to you courtesy of Pendleton Whiskey.
  12. After bringing in Jarrett an older good pro, I think Poles will have second thoughts going that route. Also a young up and comer Dayo, all these moves say is ( overpay). I think the draft is the key and then if we need something else a one year deal with an older pro. Clowney, Fowler, Floyd, Bosa.

I don’t want another old expensive player on the Dline. We can spend judiciously and improve all three levels of the defense and then add more in the draft.
  14. Iowa is always a good place to look for prospects.
  15. Fingers crossed! No better way to re-tool the Defense and keep the offenses cupboard full.

  17. After watching the Matt Ryan intro press conference with Arthur Blank, I'm fully convinced we will get the compensatory picks. They said there would be no change in GM duties from the previous GM. Ironically, they hired their previous GM from the Saints, with the Saints receiving compensatory picks for his hire. Round two, ding ding...
  18. Congrats to Thuney. Here's my protector of the future. Meet this years Quinn Meiners. Gennings Dunker
  19. I posted a TTNL video with "Cars" (who is damned smart about the cap) and he showed where with simple restructruing we could create $64M in cap room, and obviously, your source says even more. So we know it's possible. I think the entire defense is getting overhauled. And I wont be shocked to see Trey Hendrickson in blue and orange next year.

Just came across this. (Work has been busy lately so if this was posted before forgive me). Bears can clear up to $72mil in cap space with simple restructures of contracts. Maximum restructuring could generate up to $147mil although I'd imagine that brings plenty of pain in future years. Poles has quite a bit of flexibility to improve this roster, more than I expected. https://overthecap.com/restructure "A simple restructure converts payments into prorated signing bonuses within the confines of the remainder of the contract. Teams typically have the ability to unilaterally execute simple restructures without any action necessary from the player." "A maximum restructure increases the amount of cap space via conversion into prorated signing bonuses by either extending the contract or by adding void years to a contract, years that do not extend the contract but are only used as placeholders for the proration. Maximum restructures are typically considered a renegotiation of the contract that requires the player's consent to execute."
  21. They will also likely with Wright to a big money extension.
  22. The 2026 salary cap is said to be around 301 to 305 million. The Bears are sitting around 304. They can make a few salary adjustments and move 1 or 2 players to add enough to sign a notable player, their draft picks, and in season operating needs. It will be a tight year but don't think they will sit on their hands.

    Pick #25

ty for that - I havent even looked at all at the draft class yet. Its good that it's rich in DTs. right when we need em.

    Pick #25

Poles is going to want more draft picks but will be according to his big board. If that player is there, whatever position, he's taking him. Look at the surprise first two picks last year. He also could move up a few spots to get someone but not jumping to top 10 that would cost to much. Lots of depth in DTs this year so that's sounds like picking a target in the second. S is a position he may fill in free agency with a later pick in the draft. So that leaves LT or DE as the logical 25 pick. Most teams don't let good LTs leave so odds of us getting one there is slim. Anyone notice that Braxton is the third rated free agent at LT? DEs always get overpaid at edge. (Dayo) I trust the BJ/ Poles team to get what we need.
  25. This makes sense, everyone is speculating but until the contract is viewed by the NFL, it still may leave an opening for the comp picks.

    Pick #25

The good thing is DT is pretty strong this year. Maybe not any top tier players but rds 1-3 have quality. A few of these guys seem to be older. Id be fine staying put or trading down. Maybe work a deal with a QB needy team looking to move back into RD1. Jets pick 33 and 2027 Rd 3 for pick 25. 2027 is supposedly going to be a strong class according to pundits. It doesn't help now, but next year we would be happy. If the NFL awards compensation for Cunningham even better.
