  1. Past hour

  2. cool - I dont know anything about him, Id forgotten him honestly. I agree that Muhammad is there to replace Stevenson, but i thought it Gordon was injured, he might play there. But Cam Lewis. Cool. Im here for it.
  3. I dont personally think we have much on the DL except the upside of Booker, a DE2. Sweat is OK, but he's a DE2 as well. We dont have anyone ont he DL who opposing offenses have to talk about, no less be afraid of. There are some intriguing rookies, but they arent blue chip sure things. So I think the whole thing gets torn apart and put together again next year. Just like he did with the OL last year. Edit - of course I hope to be wrong about this.
  4. I think it’s Cam Lewis we’ll see at NB. He’s a good player, versatile, just not special. I believe they’ll leave Muhammed outside to push Stevenson, and that’s his more natural fit anyway. Trying to fit a rookie into two positions is not ideal, but sometimes luck is on your side. I think early on they’ll also leave Thieneman at safety to learn those roles. However, last year at Oregon he proved he can play at NB and that might be an option later in the season. Coby Bryant can do a little of that too. I’m not totally enamored with our depth at Safety but if Allen feels confident enough in someone like Hicks, I could see scenarios with Gordon injured where he puts 3 safeties on the field as opposed to the traditional NB. That might cause some confusion in a QB’s reads depending how players shift at the snap. If they start tinkering with the DBs later in camp that might be a little something to watch. Or if we pick up a DB after cuts.
  5. Possibly, it depends how the guys they have now look being healthier and having a year under their belt in the scheme. Dexter, I think, said it took them a while to understand their assignments and going into camp this year they will now know. This helps DA having them know the scheme and having more healthy players to add wrinkles. DA was kind of handcuffed getting so many new starters up to speed, like nearly the whole back 7. At least next week we will get the camp updates.
  6. Today

  7. You are correct, I forgot he came back for playoffs. He didnt or couldnt participate in OTA and mini camps, so he needs to pass the physical. After the Bears doctors evaluate him at camp, he could be removed.
  8. If you are talking about Kyler he played the final two games. If it is Edward’s he practiced with club earlier but had some minor injury I guess come up. But Ayo who ruptured his Achilles is not on the pup list which is a good sign.
  9. 100% I read a couple places that all summer hes been a regular at the clubs, staying out late, maybe even doing coke. These are rumors not reports, but if it's true, then he is gone after this year, maybe sooner. You cant really afford to cut him for a while, it'd cost an extra $9.6M against this years cap, or cut him early next year where his $15M dead money would only bring $800k in cap savings. BUT if you trade him this year, right now, you clear up $10.4M this year! If you trade him next year before june 1st, you clear up $8.3M of cap space. If we could find someone to take him now, we'd eat the guaranteed money, he'd play for them for $10.4M, $10.8M and $10.8M the next three seasons (2026, 2027, 2028) Maybe someone wants him?
  10. i think this is true. Every GM wants Max Crosby but having the discipline not to pay for it allows you lots of other players too. And if the best shot of getting a pass rush under the cap is next years draft, then that's the deal. But i wouldnt want to just throw this season away either. Maybe a one year vet deal is still coming.
  11. Yesterday

  12. I would say so. As much as we would love to add young talent to the D now, this last draft just didn't have the quantity of quality players that fit the Bears profile. I think this next draft will and the Bears will have to make do with what they have until then and its okay. Sometimes it is better to wait to get the best talent instead of throwing darts at the wrong guys. It worked for QB and I think the Bears see the next draft is better fotting for dline
  13. I guess it is because he ended the season on IR and once he reports to camp, the Bears doctors have to clear him. He could be on the practice field Tuesday if given the green light. We will find out soon.
  14. I have to believe Ben Johnson is fuming over Kyler's soft tissue vacation. BJ likes players who are dedicated, with a balls-to-the-wall attitude. Kyler reported to camp last year with soft tissue issues. He was basically lost for the season, and now, 6 months after last season ended for the Bears, he still has soft tissue problems? I never heard of soft tissue issues taking a year to rehab, unless the soft tissue they are talking about is Kyler's brain.
  15. I hope they are being careful but like you said, its been a problem ever since he got paid.
  16. agree with both of you guys
  17. Too Bad. He's good but you just cant count on him. And with JJ needing a big payday soon (and not deserving it) and Stevenson being a wild card, it's no wonder we drafted Muhammad. And we will draft another CB next year.
  18. . Kyler really didnt want to play football. It was out there somewhere. He is going to milk any injury and collect the last dollar until its figured out.
  19. Zavion should be fun to watch. I think he will have an impact during the season. He won't get a ton of reps as a WR, but he will also be lined up in the backfield. Add his role as a punt &/or kickoff returner, and you have our toy for Ben Johnson to play with, and Ben loves gadget guys.
  20. I think it will be Zavion. I’m not expecting he’ll be a WR2, nor even WR3. I do think he’ll stand out in camp because the fast guys always do. Plus he’s a far better receiver than most fans gave him credit for during the draft. More importantly I think it carries into the season. There are so many good pieces around him and a good offensive mind who knows how and when to utilize his talents. Role players like this in the right system and around the right teammates make gaining 10 yards look easy. One missed tackle quickly turns that into 20yds or more. From the news bits over the offseason it appears he’s going to have a very professional approach to his career.
  21. Last week

  22. Very disappointing regarding Kyler. He’s been hurt all offseason after being hurt all season. Not saying it is his fault - but availability is key and he just isn’t.
  23. Rookies reporting today - vets on Tuesday. Guys on PUP list per Biggs Shemar Sewell Gordon (another soft tissue injury) Trapillo Keyshawn Elliot TJ Edward’s (non football injury)
  24. I like him but as a novice draft guy, there is information we dont always get access too that changes a pick. Poles has had his share of acquiring people that get injured, clearly you dont want to draft one high in the draft , preinjury.
  25. I didn't see him as an option, so sorry for his issues. It sucks for a young man to deal with this ...

Once the injury stuff popped up, there is no way you take him that early. The Bears already have enough young guys injured or who missed time last year, they didn't need another high risk injury guy.
  27. For sure, there's almost nothing else you CAN fight over. Everything else is slotted. As for injuries, sounds like he's pretty torn up. I liked him a lot on tape, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was devalued on our board for that. Then again, the players we took were pretty strong picks, and maybe just on ability alone they edged (lol) out Jacas just on the board as players. We still need a real pass rusher though.
  28. This injury list and subsequent contract issue make me think Jacas wasn’t even on our board. I’d bet the contract issue is over guarantees “Jacas’ recent health issues have not been limited to his knee. A hamstring injury prevented Jacas from participating at the Combine in February or Illinois’ pro day in March. There are also concerns that a labral tear in Jacas’ shoulder could require medical attention down the line.” Pro Football RumorsMike Vrabel Discusses Unsigned 2nd-Rounder Gabe JacasMike Vrabel is "positive" the Patriots will sign second-rounder Gabe Jacas, but it is not clear when it will happen. It has been suggested by some pundits, not saying you but this was the subject matter.
