  1. Past hour
  2. I can't put a finger on Caleb yet. What I do know is he is not Justin Fields. He can work the middle of the field. Caleb also shows the ability to work through progressions and stay in the pocket. What I want to see is quicker recognition and accuracy. IMO, the arrow is up and can't wait to see it ...
  3. Today
  4. Caleb looked far less comfortable today than anytime since the first 2 weeks of the season. Lately he's looked very good early on in games and then some struggles settle in as adjustments are made and we get off script. I have to wonder how much the short week played into that where he gets one less day of reviewing the game plan. Given how much focus Ben has put on getting the running game going, which I think is the right thing to do, is that taking practice snaps away from the passing game? Overall Caleb had time to throw on most downs either he didn't read the defense right or nobody was open on a lot of these. Film studies will be out tomorrow but my take is this was not a good game for him. The running game continues to shine and that just feels good. Who is responsible for making Tremaine Edmunds a beast? Lately he's playing like he's on a mission. Until the last few games I don't recall seeing him play with violence like we've seen in recent games. To be fair the entire D is playing with that intensity. The D still has some holes to fill but playing with effort and (mal) intent is how it should be done. Dennis Allen has them doing that.
  5. I see a side of Dennis Allen I’ve never seen before. Then just like that it’s over and he’s on to next week.
  6. I would be shocked if the Bears are within 2 touchdowns of BAL. Going to have to get better quarterback play to beat a team desperate for a win with their MVP quarterback coming back to play. This is a mega important game for Caleb to get back on track, because things have been trending in a negative direction for him for 3 weeks now. This is supposed to be the soft part of the Bears schedule with all these bad defenses. If he can't put up numbers now, I think we're going to start having some harsher conversations about him in the not so distant future.
  7. Week 7 - Nix with a huge comeback, 33 pts scored in the 4th quarter, Maye with a solid game against TEN. Rattler threw 3 INTs and lost a fumble and his QBR dropped less than Williams, who plummeted from 60.4 to 52.1, his worst game of the season, and worst since NE last season where he had a 11.9. 1. Maye - 96.4 QBR - 222 yds. 2 TD, 0 INT, 4 sacks, and 62 rushing yds. 284 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 77.2, 1744 yards, 12-2 TD-INT 2. Nix - 82.4 QBR - 279 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacks, and 48 rushing yds. 327 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 56.2, 1556 yards, 11-4 TD-INT 3. Rattler - 30.5 QBR - 233 yds, 2 TD, 3 INT, 4 Sacks, and 12 rushing yds. 245 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 55.4, 1450 yards, 8-4 TD-INT, 1 FL 4. Penix - SNF / Season QBR: 52.6, 1168 yards, 4-3 TD-INT 5. Williams - 19.8 QBR - 172 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 Sack. 170 Total Yards. Won / Season QBR: 52.1, 1351 yards, 9-3 TD-INT 6. Daniels - 45.8 QBR - 156 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacks, and 35 rushing yds. 191 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 51.9, 875 yards, 7-1 TD-INT, 2FL 7. McCarthy - Always hurt / Season QBR: 23.9 (Last in NFL), 301 yards, 2-3 TD-INT
  8. The OPI penalty today on Loveland was crazy. He was standing there in ready to catch position for quite a while before the defender ran into him. In basketball that would be a charge on the defensive back. Crazy. Im not a conspiracy theorist, so Ill just say i hope the bad calls get evened out over time with calls to our advantage. But i can see why some people might think it was on purpose, because they really are awful calls.
  9. I think any time you hit the QB in the head they will call it, even though I thought that one was weak. Check out the play where Caleb avoids the sack and gets the pass to Swift. The DT takes an extra step after the ball came out to then land all his body weight on the QB. That is always a penalty. No call. Loveland's OPI call (now in back to back weeks). Saints RT false start on first TD, would've basically forced a FG.
  10. I agree with all of that. I just keep repeating - it will be uneven this year, and it should be more consistent and even in the back end of the season. I with it was crisp right now, but it takes time I think. I also have faith that BJ will get us there, and ride the team hard to make it so.
  11. Yesterday
  12. Johnson did call a good game. Just like last week though, a couple of bogus calls negate positive plays. They may not be much in the big scheme of things, but they add up. It is the difference between 57% and 65% Comp, 172 Yards Passing and 220. Only one sack. A lot of QBs struggling. Love with under 90 Yards passing thru the 3rd Quarter in ARZ. Nix under 100 and being shutout by the Giants.
  13. I've been looking at the roughing the passer rules, because I truly don't understand how that penalty was called on Brisker. He hit the QB's arm while the ball was being thrown and the follow through brushed the QB's head. Isn't there a provision in there where you are making a play on the ball? Kinda like blocking a punt and blowing up the punter in the process... Jason, can you elaborate?
  14. I think we have the speed at LB to (mostly) contain Jackson. We win or lose these games coming up purely on our own. It all depends on how consistent we can be that week. We are in all these games, even to win convincingly, but we can flame out too if we dont play with more discipline. Luckily, that seems to be coming in big supply each week from the coaches. This week were were good on the ground and on defense, and controlled the game the whole way. Next week, lets hope its Calebs turn. In time, all phases will show up together on a regular basis, and thats the contender we are looking for.
  15. yeah, we didnt have it in the passing game, but coach called a really great game. we were truly in command of the game the whole way, even with the passing game being trash. Johnson will have lots to coach Caleb about this week. And thats how it needs to happen anyway.
  16. The Passing game has not been good, but it could be this: 9-17, 45 yds, 0 TD 6-12 46 yds , 0 TD 15-29, 91 yds, 0 TD, 12 sacks, -76 yds 15 Net passing yds over the last two games.
  17. As bad as the passing game looked today, the Bears still won the TOP battle 36 mins to 23 mins. So the defense played well and was well rested. The running game really took pressure off the entire team.
  18. Looks like the Bears will come in at 6.5 underdogs to the 1-5 Ravens. The LBs and Gordon are going to have to spy Jackson and stop Henry. This will be a tough one, but Baltimore's defense has been bad and that won't change much out of their bye. If the refs call this game fair (unlikely), I could see the Bears winning this in a close game. However, the refs have shown they don't call games fairly, so I am thinking this will be close loss, both teams in the mid-20s.
  19. @ BAL (1-5) @ CIN (3-4) NYG (2-4) @ MIN (3-3) PIT (4-2) Going 4-1 in the next 5 would make them 8-3 with 6 to play. Even going 2-4 in at stretch would give them 10 wins.
  20. I dunno about a run, but we are definitely sniffing the playoffs. 10-7, with a possible WC game was the prediction we all seemed to kind of agree on early, and I think we are still there. Not saying it couldnt be 11-6 or whatever, but WC game is probably about where we belong right now. I still maintain this season is for building consistency. We sure didnt have it in the passing game today. I have faith that BJ will get it straightened out. He coached a great game today even as our passing offense faltered. The outcome was pretty clear the whole time. We were in control. We scored 26 points, and took a knee on the 20. We could have had 29 easily, and 33 too possibly if we needed it. We're OK, but damn we looked sloppy today. We are all looking forward to seeing our team impose its will on our opponents, but its a process to get there. i think we are on the right track, and we will clean up the issues that arise.
  21. The run game is back just in time for the pass game to fall apart. If Caleb doesn't turn it around real damn quick, they'll be back under .500 within a few weeks. He was horrendous the entire game today, arguably his worst game as a pro, given the quality of opponent. Maybe TEN and NE last year were worse. Zero positives that I can find from his performance against the worst team the Bears will play all year.
  22. The first 4-game win streak since 2018. The Bears lead the NFL in takeaways and turnover differential. The running game is heating up. As of right now, the Bears are in the last WC spot at 4-2 and no longer in 4th in the DIV with MIN losing. Still super crazy that the Bears should be 5-1 right now and tied for the best record in the NFL.
  23. I guess now we understand why they didnt go get another RB. The OL is starting tp jell. If we are consistent with the run game and keep getting TOs, we have a playoff run in our future.
  24. If Caleb could be calmer on the passes on the run, we could be scary good. Lets hope this improves over the season.
  25. Great team performance other than Caleb has been well off it today. Bodes well that the running game and defense as looked superb. I hope Caleb looks at the tape and makes sure he takes responsibility by improving his game. I hope we get this over the line today because up till now I have had a great day with Manchester United beating Liverpool earlier in the day πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
