Read this morning that both Monangai (knee) and newly signed Xavior Woods (groin) came out of the weekend scathed. Reports say Monangai’s injury was close to being pretty “serious” and with Woods‘ injury I suspect they’ll be on the market for another veteran Safety(?).

Oz is BACK - Activated off Pup today!!!
Moving very smoothly. I’m not seeing any signs of a limp. x-safari-https://redirect.x.com/BradBiggs/status/2089100270462439524?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2089100270462439524%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fbearswire.usatoday.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fnfl%2Fbears%2F2026%2F08%2F16%2Fbears-news-ozzy-trapilo-returns-practice-video%2F91331496007%2F&ct=rw-null

- Swift - do they resign him?
I think the young DTs will replace Dexter during the season. Not that he won’t be on the field but his share of snaps will decrease.- Cleveland game thread
I heard that too. Having been a bench player in my younger years I was always happy to get playing time. So why wouldn’t he have been happy to get the call in a key moment in the game? Regardless my biggest takeaway after watching him closely is that he’s a slow athlete. Quick feet and quick hand help a lot in line play. Both sides. He’s like the Gervon Dexter version of OT.- Oz is BACK - Activated off Pup today!!!
Happy he heals quick, but hope he isn't rushing it. Any set backs and he goes to IR if they need the roster spot.- Cleveland game thread
I am good if they can get something for him. I see it as Trapilo, Jones, and if they can keep one more it is Kiran over Wills because of Poles 3rd round investment.- Oz is BACK - Activated off Pup today!!!
Yikes. Marvels of modern medicine. Or he’s just a quick healer. Patella tendon tear is a pretty devastating injury and after seeing him ‘limp off’ after he got it was pretty admirable. Dude must have an extremely high pain tolerance. Here’s to him not rushing back.- Swift - do they resign him?
If he has another good year, I think they try to sign him to a 2-3 year front loaded deal. If they don't extend Dexter or Stevenson, the top 5 guys coming up for a contract would be Swift, Bradbury, Braxton, Raymond, and Blackwell next offseason. I doubt Bradbury is extended. Braxton is gone, Raymond may come back, but he would come in around the same number at his age. I can see Blackwell returning, but again at a similar cap hit. So there should be room for Swift if they want him back. I also assume they will move on from Jarrett and Odeyingbo this offseason. Depending on Gordon's health status, him as well. That would free up even more cap for a move like that.- Cleveland game thread
Did you guys see where apparently Coach Johnson was going to let his asst coaches call plays for half of the preseason games? This last game was Coach Randle-Els turn and he did the second half. Is that when they separated on the score?- Cleveland game thread
That was me. Last year I saw reports where he was only because he was apparently having a hard time learning the plays. AI agrees with you that ‘no’ he is not and that he’s been managing injuries. At any rate, I hope he sticks around as he’s a good back…probably #3 at least. Ahmad, to me, looked slow. His TD was a result of the play design, not his speed or elusiveness . Keep in mind he was running against 2nd or 3rd team defenders…for the Browns. I’d say RoJo has the upper hand…but it’s a relatively low bar.- Cleveland game thread
If I remember they were rotating them the whole game. Not sure that was one over the other.- Cleveland game thread
In the postgame, I felt like he was giving an excuse for his play because he had to go back in for Wills. Yet, he was struggling before he came back in.- Cleveland game thread
I would be shocked if Kiran cleared waivers. Serviceable OTs on rookie deals don't grow on trees. If he is the odd man out, I could see another team taking a flyer for him for like a 6th rounder or something like that.- Trapilo back sooner than expected
If they could get a stick of gum for Kiran, I'd be happy. Definitely would not trade Braxton. Ozzy is not a sure thing yet.- Trapilo back sooner than expected
Yeah, there is video of him practicing today. He has 4 weeks to get up to speed before Week 1. There is actually a good chance he is ready by then. Incredible. That was the one position on offense I was concerned about. If they go with him as the starter, and the best of Braxton, Kiran, Jedric as the LT backup, the Bears are in much better shape. Benedet the backup RT and Swing Tackle. I would not be surprised if they try to trade Braxton or Kiran if they are the odd man out. Braxton is in the last year of his deal and Kiran has a year left on his rookie deal. With injuries around the league, I would think there would be a market for either one.- Cleveland game thread
Like I said before, I hate throwing away something expensive. Kiran hasn't had much time because he had injuries, so this seems to be his first full camp. He is under contract another year, if they can stash him on practice squad or IR, or something, it might helpYesterday

Regarding Kiran - I will caveat - they are sending a message and I want to see how he responds coming out of this game. He’s healthy and in better physical shape - now go and step up from here on out. Ben has set a message to all of his LT prospects - I want to see who responds and steps up.- Cleveland game thread
Kiran won’t make it - unless they see him playing at guard. He just isn’t good and whether it was injuries or other stuff - he was another in a long list of 3rd round misses from Poles. The hope is we see Poles draft rates excel with this coaching staff.- Oz is BACK - Activated off Pup today!!!
Huge news - way sooner than expected. Hopefully the momentum with Oz continues - he’s got a month of practices before season starts - even if he begins the year coming off the bench this is a huge step forward!- Cleveland game thread
In this case my eye test matched up with PFF. Kiran, after all these years even knowing he’s had injuries, should not be on this list with a bunch of guys I’ve never heard of. Except Bagent…who also shouldn’t be on this list but he also played that poorly. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bears/2026/08/16/bears-browns-pff-grades-best-worst-performers/91323323007/ Worst offense gradesTE Qadir Ismail: 41.9 OL Wesley French: 44.3 OL Kiran Amegadjie: 44.8 QB Tyson Bagent: 46.6 OL Kyle Hergel: 49.5- Trapilo back sooner than expected
Wow. It just got crazier in a very good way. Windy City GridironBears activate LT Ozzy Trapilo from PUP listThe Bears get some great news, with left tackle Ozzy Trapilo coming back off the PUP list.- Cleveland game thread
I think Turner fits into the DE equation since they reportedly asked him to slim down. We need help there for sure. Regarding pre-season of course it’s hard to gauge but I look at it this way, if you can’t win 1v1 battles in the preseason you won’t win them in the regular season. That said, I ran the slo-mo on the 2nd half: Kromah was winning a lot of battles and he was getting double teamed a lot, and still winning. I think he sticks on the 53. DT depth is going to be a battle but from what I saw I’d say Street is the odd-man out. I liked Lynch, VDB, and I liked Loving as all were winning some battles throughout. Loving was even holding his ground against double teams better than Billings was last year. Granted it’s all backups but that is the job. Much more needs to play out in this battle. I also watched a lot more of Kiran and Wills. They were rotating them on series instead of by quarter. Wills late start that gave up the sack in the first half… didn’t see any of that in the 2nd half. In fact he was often the first hat moving with Keenum. I imagine he’s more comfortable with Keenum’s cadence. Regardless, he looked better than Kiran who quite simply always gets beat, if not early, he’ll get beat late on the 2nd move. Wills moves into 2 string IMO but we’ll see what the coaches say this week. - Swift - do they resign him?
