  2. I think Poles trades one of the 2 second round picks for more capital. If we move back 10 to 15 spots we can get a pick between 90 and 100. Looking at draft Buzz big board, there's several good picks in that range. Charles Grant/OT Darius Alexander/DT Jordon Burch/DE Cam Skattebo/RB Devin Neil/RB Kevin Winston/S Latham Ransom/S Dylan Fairchild/OG
  3. The problem with rankings and mock drafts, the NFL teams doesn't make their big board up by what fans think. They do a years research to make picks. Johnson clearly wanted Loveland and I'm glad some smart people agreed. It makes the pick look better but in the end , it's what happens when the games are played.
  4. I get you don't like him and bad mouth him every chance you get. I don't think he cares what you think, he's got a great job and makes a ton of money.
  5. After seeing the draft room celebration, they clearly were targeting Loveland. Someone asked Poles if he thought 3 OTs would go in the top 9 and he said yes. He's 4" taller, 45 lbs heavier and runs a 4.65 40. Allen ran a 4.71 40. Now if you're saying he catches the ball well like Keenan, very true but their measurements aren't even close. This pick was a surprise to everyone but a few experts. DJ and Brugler had him rated around 10. We got excited when Johnson came here , everyone was cheering and now that Johnson gets someone he wanted, people complain. I'm excited to see what Ben does with him.
  6. I disagree. We've seen lots of insecure GMs and head coaches on our team haven't we? In fact, for a long time the McCaskeys only wanted to hire beta types. I dont see Poles vehemently disagreeing with anything Johnson says. I'll bet Poles thinks it is his job to serve Johnson, and I LIKE that. But on some teams the GM or owner is the alpha leader. Remember when Jerry Jones got rid of Kimmy Johnson? Let Switzer take that team to the super bowl. Now switzer is no shrinking violet, but he knew when it came to Jerry Jones, he needed to know his place. Who isn't?
  7. Yeah Warren is totally cringey. I agree that we dont know if they would have taken Banks instead if he was available too. Or Jeanty etc. I also agree, adding Ersery and one of the good HBs would make this all a really good draft. I was so used to seeing Loveland in round two of the draft simulators LOL They really are crazy!
  8. I think the thing about Loveland is that he is a lot like Keenan Allen at the stem of his route. he is very clean in and out of breaks for such a big guy, and he gets open with that stuff in a way that Warren and Kmet dont. If you imagine a large Keenen Allen, then you start to see the matchup issues. Also, to my tweet that I highlighted where the guy said they had him #2 overall, you know i have argued over and over that opinions vary and you gotta watch the film. So thats before you choose LOL AFTER the choice is made, then you read every good thing written and try to see if he does the things they say he does! I have no problem with unreasonably positive narratives around a guy after we pick him! Right now hes awesome. Then he has to get on the field, and his tape will start to tell the story. But right now? He's the best! LOL
  9. There are 6 picks before ours. One will be a QB and 2ั teams that already took OL. That leaves 3 chances Ersery will be gone. Plenty of RBs and DEs left to fit our needs. When Poles talked about the draft, he said it was about the best players he could get as a group. There's no one left in the draft that has the upside Loveland does, so they took him at 10. We need to let the draft play out.
  10. TE at 10 was never my choice but Johnson gets to choose what weapons he wants. I was thinking more with speed but he has a player he can play chess with. Slot WR, 12 set, split outside. He now has a 6-6 and 6-5 target to good with 2 very good WRs. Add the running game and we get to see an offense that scores a lot of points. Also adds another blocker in the run game. We finally get a high energy offensive mind and people are complaining about his choices.
  11. The inference here is that we should trust them. Out of all franchises in the NFL, the Bears are one of the few the fanbase absolutely should not trust. They continually F up year after year without learning previous lessons. Without trying the obvious. Without sticking to simplicity. Without building the trenches. So, I hope he’s the next Travis Kelce, but right now it looks like a really bad selection for a team that already has a talented, underused TE and many other holes to fill.
  12. The Bears went all in drafting Caleb. To get the most out of him, they hired Ben Johnson, added 3 pieces to the oline and now drafted a move TE. They can finish this process tomorrow.
  13. Poles isn't a high energy guy. You don't get to be a NFL GM by being shy and insecure. Clearly Johnson had a purpose to add a talented weapon at 10 , there are still OL and DL left to get. They can still get a talented RB in the 3rd round. It's about getting 4 talented players, not trying to fill one need.
  14. I thought Poles was fine. He was the same with Caleb, even though they knew it was happening. Warren was an odd ball..."go blue".. Ben Johnson did remind me of Gruden. You can tell he wanted this player. Not saying they didn't want a LT first though. Let's hope we can get Ersery. He is more athletic than Banks. For offense, if they can get Henderson, Johnson, or Judkins I think they will be complete and will be regarded one of the best on paper.
  15. Him and Jihaad Campbell were medical flagged and expected to drop. Will Johnson has a bad shoulder. He could overcome it, but if it requires surgery, I think those have 6 month+ recovery time.
  16. We can all find rankings with all sorts of different values. Loveland here was 7 overall on Draft Network. I"m sure I can find him as far back as 20 or 25 but on average I'd say he was at least around 15 across the board. Might have been higher than that in the final rankings just prior to the draft. https://www.thedraftnetwork.com/list/nfl-draft-2025-player-rankings ....12 here on CBS https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/ ....Brugler had Warren at 10 and Loveland at 11. https://www.chargers.com/news/dane-brugler-top-100-draft-prospects "Two common names in recent mock drafts — Penn State's Tyler Warren and Michigan's Colston Loveland — are right near one another on the Big Board. Warren came in at No. 10 overall while Loveland was at No. 11." I checked a few other places and almost everywhere I look his value fit very close to where we drafted him. I wanted to build the trenches and didn't want a TE at 10 so I never really considered him, or Warren, unless we traded back a bit. Seeing him work out of the slot effectively gives me hope we got a good move TE and filled a clear need on the offense. I'm coming to grips with it. The fact we took him ahead of the popular pick in Warren shows me our talent evaluators and new coaches can make good decisions together. Or maybe I should be worried they agreed with my TE evaluation?
  17. Not getting one of those tackles at this point. I’d go get the Michigan db. He is going to be so motivated.
  18. Jihad to the Eagles - more for Fangio. Wow. And Simmons gores to the Chiefs. I dunno about Ersery falling 6 more slots. Texans need an OT, Cleveland picks twice and they need an OT. Maybe we trade up in the 2nd round? Dont love it but...
  19. For sure. And if you didnt see it on the other thread, here is another high praise tweet - Eric Galko is the director of operations for the East-West Shrine Bowl. And he also founded Optimum Scouting just tweeted this:
  20. for $10M a year, when you can cut or trade him with no cap penalty? He has a role for sure, I just dont see it for that money.
  21. Kmet has always been the inline blocker, so he can still play a role in the offense as he has done previously. He will most likely see more production with Johnson in charge. If the Bears sign/draft another TE, then I will agree he is gone but until then he is sticking around.
  22. 75% of Lovelands catches are for first downs.
  23. What Ben Johnson sees in Loveland
  24. WOW. Here's the phone call with Loveland. First off Poles is so shy and insecure and cringey sheesh. But THEN, check out Johnson. His energy is off the charts - better than any of the press conferences or anything. Look how he is rocking back and forth with excitement. Listen to what he says. This is the most authentic example Ive seen of him with players. More candid than the behind the scenes stuff. Reminds me of Jon Gruden - maniacal about winning. Fantastic. Maybe Johnson is gonna show us all something with Loveland. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/187DKZHkHp/
  25. Conerly gone to Washington Ersery isnt gonna fall to us int he 2nd, we will have to make a move if we need him. But Simmons? Hmmm
  26. totally agree. But if you get a top 1st round talent at LT for the next 12 years, maybe a half a season isnt so bad?
