Zavion should be fun to watch. I think he will have an impact during the season. He won't get a ton of reps as a WR, but he will also be lined up in the backfield. Add his role as a punt &/or kickoff returner, and you have our toy for Ben Johnson to play with, and Ben loves gadget guys.

I think it will be Zavion. I’m not expecting he’ll be a WR2, nor even WR3. I do think he’ll stand out in camp because the fast guys always do. Plus he’s a far better receiver than most fans gave him credit for during the draft. More importantly I think it carries into the season. There are so many good pieces around him and a good offensive mind who knows how and when to utilize his talents. Role players like this in the right system and around the right teammates make gaining 10 yards look easy. One missed tackle quickly turns that into 20yds or more. From the news bits over the offseason it appears he’s going to have a very professional approach to his career.

Very disappointing regarding Kyler. He’s been hurt all offseason after being hurt all season. Not saying it is his fault - but availability is key and he just isn’t.

I like him but as a novice draft guy, there is information we dont always get access too that changes a pick. Poles has had his share of acquiring people that get injured, clearly you dont want to draft one high in the draft , preinjury.

Once the injury stuff popped up, there is no way you take him that early. The Bears already have enough young guys injured or who missed time last year, they didn't need another high risk injury guy.

For sure, there's almost nothing else you CAN fight over. Everything else is slotted. As for injuries, sounds like he's pretty torn up. I liked him a lot on tape, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was devalued on our board for that. Then again, the players we took were pretty strong picks, and maybe just on ability alone they edged (lol) out Jacas just on the board as players. We still need a real pass rusher though.

Not I; however, it wouldn't surprise me if Malik is a starter against the Panthers in week one. The question is, will he replace Stevenson or Gordon? If Gordon finally shakes the injuries, I could see Malik starting opposite Johnson, giving us Johnson, Muhammad, and Gordon as our starting three. If Gordon cannot start due to injury, I could see Malik taking his place and either Smith or Stevenson opposite Johnson.

That can be a vet taking a big leap. Rookie playing really well. UDFA contributing. One of the stars going off. (example) Caleb throwing for 4800 yards/ 34 TDs. A spot with a lot of questions, I think Austin Booker jumps up and gets 12 sacks.

As much as we have seen Stevenson play well and play bad, saying a rookie is better without seeing his training camp is a little bit of a reach. I hope he balls out but we dont know that yet. I also think Terrell Smith is in play if he stays healthy. The good to come out of this is better depth and hopefully all are worthy of starting. That what make the DB group good. If this group stays healthy , it could be one of our strengths. What I find funny is pundits are saying we have need because we lost DuShon Wright. He was a nobody before he got here. He made big plays but was not good in his cover grade.

amen. they probably want Stephenson gone as soon as they know they have a viable replacement. Ben Johnson doesnt suffer lack of discipline no matter who it is, even a guy like DJ Moore. I know it was cap room too, but his lack of discipline was part of of it for sure.

That hero ball thing is a media narrative. Nonsense. He was 7th in the league in EPA from the pocket. Just because lazy writers invent easy and convenient narratives to fit stats doesnt mean thats what actually happened on the field. Williams was much worse out of the pocket than in. When he was running for his life, he didnt find open receivers. Thats not the same as playing too much hero ball. That's a narrative left over from the draft. Nonsense. Does he need to grow in running the offense? of course. Show me a 2nd year QB that ran the complete offense flawlessly. You cant. So yes, Caleb needs to keep growing, and of course he will too with Johnson as his mentor. But this old lie that he holds the ball too long and cant make reads is just lazy and untrue.

Above all week one will look a lot like what we saw in the last four weeks of the 2025 season. Depending on who is healthy it might even look better. People forget the steep learning curve Rome, Loveland, and then Burden went through.

I agree with you guys. I could never understand a coach who refuses to play a rookie just because he might make "rookie mistakes." As an example, I'd prefer to have a rookie with the potential to be great as my starter, making a few mistakes as expected, over a veteran who makes stupid mistakes (like not paying attention and allowing a Hail Mary completion by Jayden Daniels).
