The Bears have to take care of business in the next 5 weeks before they hit the gauntlet of games starting in MIN in Week 11. The next 5 teams combine for a record of 6-14, then the last 8 combine for a current record of 20-10-2, 19-7-2 without CLE. If you hope for 4-1 in the next 5, then they need 4-4 to hit 10 wins, MIN, CLE, GB, and SF, PIT, or DET. Week 6 at WAS 2-2 (#10 OFF EPA/P) Week 7 vs NO 0-4 Week 8 at BAL 1-3 (#7 OFF EPA/P) Week 9 at CIN 2-2 Week 10 vs NYG 1-3 -------------------- Weel 11 at MIN 2-2 (#1 DEF for EPA/P) Week 12 vs PIT 3-1 Week 13 at PHI 4-0 (FRI Game on the road ugh, short week+road, feels like the DET game in Week 2, #4 DEF EPA/P) Week 14 at GB 2-1-1 (GB gets one day of extra rest playing on THU while Bears play on FRI, #4 OFF EPA/P) Week 15 vs CLE 1-3 (#12 DEF EPA/P) Week 16 vs GB 2-1-1 (SAT Game, short week, GB has to travel back from SUN afternoon game in DEN, helps Bears, #4 OFF EPA/P) Week 17 at SF 3-1 (SF plays MNF in Week 16 in IND, short week plus travel back home helps Bears, #9 DEF EPA/P) Week 18 vs DET 3-1 (could easily be resting their starters for this one, in CHI in January lol for Goff, #3 OFF EPA/P, #5 DEF EPA/P) 2 games left vs an Elite offense only (GBx2) 4 games left vs an Elite defense (MIN, PHI, CLE, SF, 3 on the road) 1 game left vs a team with an elite offense and defense (DET) The Bears are 22nd on offense and 20th on defense for EPA/P. Rushing game on offense is the biggest liability with the run defense the 2nd biggest issue. Pass Defense the biggest strength followed by Pass Offense.

With the DEN win, all 4 2nd Year QBs that played won this week. Nix had a really good game, and bumped his QBR over 50. So going into Week 5, the 4 non-injured QBs all have QBRs over 50, which is cool to see. Hopefully this group turns out to be the next 1983 QB class.

Yeah, they have fallen off even more than I thought they did. BAL did not look good either. Next 5, all are winnable.

The Bengals game has officially become a "you better win this" type of game after seeing how atrocious they've been the past two weeks. They look like a team dead in the water, and they know it now.

Winning Ugly is this the game that changes the culture?
Bears4Ever_34 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
The Commanders game is an important one, because a win gives the team some legitimacy as a playoff threat. It's good that they beat the Raiders, but the Raiders stink. They should beat bad teams, even on the road. I want to see them finally beat a quality opponent in a game that matters for both teams, otherwise the idea of a culture shift rings pretty hollow for me. -
Im not gonna go back and forth, but you were not just busting my balls, you called me a bitch, you said you were my coach and i was the student, you said you were offended at the idea that i could disagree with you about OL since you played, you figured you are the authority and I shouldnt have an opinion, but just defer. If it's screw me, then thats on you. When you act like an arrogant bully wanna be, and I dont play along, thats on you. Ask yourself, if someone came up to you, and said what you said, and called you a bitch, youd just laugh? And also, mit was over a course of days, maybe weeks that you stayed with the "joke" You should own what you did, but I truly dont need you to. I will just ask that you treat me respectfully in the future. That would be good enough. And if you cant do that, then that will show too.

Has Stevenson turned the corner (no pun intended)
DABEARSDABOMB replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
I hope so - 3 strong games in a row would be a huge step forward for Stevenson and the Bears đ» -
I bet he's at his best in this game. This dude looks like he's redeemable...

I'll address this only once. I was messing with you as a brother/friend and you took it the wrong way. Instead of questioning my intent, you decided to splay me open with a miriad of falsehoods. It was even in my verbiage. Look at the posts. If you can acknowledge that, we can be cool. If not, screw you...

no, Ill just say this once. 1) I said Braxton sucks, and so I HOPE Trapilo will supplant him. I predicted the end of Braxton, but not what kind of a player Trapilo would become. I wasnt making any kind of judgement on Benedet, who was not really in the discussion at the time. Just that Braxton sucks. And he does. 2) People can disagree with me all they want, but often i am early seeing something when other dont, and then they start attacking me about it, and once attacked, i absolutely defend myself. But if someone simply disagrees with me, thats FINE. For example, you just called me "stalker" in the same sentence you said not to call people names? 3) I dont think I know everything. Most of what I say is opinion and I say it that way "I think" etc - certainly a lot more than you use that kind of language to be sure. When I make an actual statement to assert what I think is now a fact about Charles Leno, Fields, Eberflus, Poles, Braxton Jones and the potential of Caleb I have been right every time. I dont make those kind of statements until i am sure, and like i said, that happens often earlier than some others want to see something, so they say Im negative, and call me names. Thats how things started with you and me too - you couldnt stand that I said that Justin Fields sucked, and you went after me personally calling names and saying things that would generally get people punched in a bar.. Then I asked you to stop, you didnt, then I demanded you stop and you still didnt, and then I finally ramped it up to the point where others on the board told us BOTH to stop. I paid a personal price for that here, but it also got you to stop. Since then, you've been abrasive, but not using the kind of language you were toward me before. 4) I dont cop any attitude with people who disagree with me - I do cop a major attitude when people treat me with disrespect, name calling, profanity and the like. With most members of this board, I usually agree. Dont forget, before you threw your Justin Fields tantrums Id been here for like 20 years, and wasnt known for that at all was I? Anyway, I know who you are Stinger, and I dont expect you to understand this or to be able to behave yourself. My problem was when Mongo started it too. I would rather respect the members of this board like him who are worthy of it, and simply disagree if that's what happens. And a comment here or there is easy to let go, but Mongo was being consistently disrespectful for a couple weeks, so i said what I needed to, and took a leave of absence. I dont need to re-litigate it all, I am only gonna explain this to you especially just this once. I dont care what you think of it, whether you understand it. Im not gonna go back and forth. When I do come back, maybe after the bye, I expect ALL of us, myself included, to deal with respect. Like I said, I doubt you personally can do it, but as long as everyone else is cool, there is no need for fighting. But most of all, this has ALL been about me being early on these topics. Seeing things that other people werent ready to see, or watching film instead of just looking at stats and reading sportswriter narratives. When I see something, and then I am confident in what I see, that isnt arrogance. And being unwilling to bend to common beliefs is not arrogance, its just confidence, the kind people have when they know theyre right, no matter what everyone else is saying. And again, the things Ive been right about are just a handful of things. Its not like everything I guess or opine on is set in stone. But when I talk about Kmet not being up to his paycheck, I got so much hate from you, but now you see it too dont you? Will you remember that thats why you thought I was arrogant, and realize i was right? Or is it just a memory of how you felt, and now that you agree, you still blame me? I hate talking about all of this - I wont anymore. I'll be back in a few weeks, and I hope people can control themselves from getting personal and then acting like they are a victim when I speak back.

Clearly your ego hasnt changed , you're the one that said Ozzy will be starting because Braxton is bad. You were half right but its not about having an opinion and being wrong, its about you coping an attitude when people disagree with you. Every time I get on, I look to see if you got on the website. You're like a stalker, just start giving your opinions again and stop with the name calling.

BJ was saying he starts out well and then wears down as the game goes on and starts screwing up. Theo will be the starter going out of the bye week. They gave him a shot and now go to phase 2.

What makes good players great is consistency. He needs to do this for the season. The Washington game will be a test to his mental focus.

Yeah, he definitely has the physical traits.

He's been great. His physicality is really good.

OK, so this exact evaluation is what I was saying several weeks ago that prompted your reaction that I: 1) am a "bitch" 2) dont understand OL play 3) should defer in all opinions about OL to you since you played and I didnt And that's why I have taken a leave of absence. I could handle cheap shots from one particular member saying things like this that would get you punched in a bar, but I didnt want to fight like that with you too. I would prefer to simply discuss football. I will consider coming back at some point, but it has to be really different.

Hippolyte would be great as a spy except he has fast feet and slow eyes. If he ever gets TJ Edwardâs level of reading and reacting heâll be really good for us.

It is really hard for me to evaluate the defense with so many injuries but I can see a few players individually making plays. I thought Stevenson and Byard have been the two standout players so far, especially the last two weeks. You didn't mention getting Gordon back. I think it will be a huge boost to get him back. Edmunds is playing better, but yeah, he is not worth what he is being paid. Need Edwards back, Sewell is ok, but not a full time starter. I don't know what to make of the DLine. Billings and Dexter are the starters, and neither are playing as good as they did last year. Sweat is a great DE2 but needs more sacks to be in the DE1 conversation. I don't know if we have even seen Jarrett healthy yet. Kind of disappointed in Turner so far, for a 2nd round pick, you should not be that invisible. The defense as a whole has been underwhelming outside of the takeaways. For offense, Caleb and Rome have been the standout players. The O-Line still feels like it is a work in progress. I was hoping the interior would be a strength but Jackson has been terrible, and both Dalman and Thuney have not lived up to their billing. The OTs have been a weakness, but some promising play in the 2nd half from the young bucks. So we will see. Swift has been bad. I don't know why they have not tried Roschon or anyone else at this point. With the emergence of Burden, Moore feels like an easy trade candidate, if not at the deadline, then definitely in the offseason. Kmet is probably 2nd on that list from the offense. They drafted his replacement and Kmet is playing worse than he did last year thru 4 weeks. Special Teams overall has been a massive disappointment before Cairo hitting 4 FGs and Blackwell making that block. Coverage units have been terrible, punting has been bad, and returns have been ok, but nothing to write home about. For defense, they still need impact players at DT, Edge, LB, and S. On offense, RB and OT are the top priorities.

In the last two games he has allowed 3 receptions for 16 yards on 12 targets with 3 PBUs, an INT, and a forced fumble + fumble recovery. PFF had the LVR game as his highest graded game of his career at 93.3 and the DAL game was his 3rd best. So in the last two weeks, Stevenson had 2 of his top 3 games of his career, and both games he was technically CB1. This is year 3 for him, but if he keeps this up, the Bears may want to get in front of an extension because he will only get more expensive.

Going into this season, we knew it would take some time to get on task with the new systems on O and D. Through week four we have seen some progression. On D, getting Booker, Jarrett and Edwards back is going to help a lot. Edmunds continues to disappoint, due to his unwillingness to stick his body into a running lane. He's my first cut candidate this off season creating an off season need. We are getting no pass rush whatsoever. This is on Poles for neglecting the position the last two drafts. It's a termination offense that won't happen. Hopefully Booker and Shemar can provide a spark because Sweat and Dexter can break through rice paper. Needs: FS, LB, EDGE On offense, it may be time to replace Braxton. If it were me, if do it because I no longer trust him. If we could trade him at the deadline, that would be great. Cole had a terrible game, but has played well within the average of the first four games. I would not do anything with him, this year, unless we're offered a decent pick. Caleb is developing well and the OL beginning to gel before Wright got hurt. We are good on the receiver front and I would look to move DJ Moore at some point. Needs: LT, RBx2

I think Braxton is done. He may be the most Jekyll Hyde lineman we've had in a long time. One moment he's locking his man down, the next he's getting signed walked. On another play he may execute perfectly and then turn around and completely block the wrong guy. I can't tell if he's a space cadet or plain stupid. He's had time to get healthier, but the mental lapses are still prevalent. They looked better when Theo took over.

Caleb now has been sacked 7 times in 4 games, 75 in his career. Just say he averages 2 sacks per game for the remainder of the season, he would no longer be in the top 20 sacked QBs (first 34 games starting their careers). So for how bad he was sacked last year, he can completely change the narrative in respect to sacks if he can continue to average 2 per game (which he is under right now).

These are the 5 games leading up to the next Divisional game against MIN in Week 11. Week 6 at WAS (WAS is 2-2 heading into a road game against LAC, very well could return home 2-3 before playing the Bears). Week 7 vs NO (NO is 0-4, plays NYG, then NE at home before playing the Bears, could easily be 0-6 by then). Week 8 at BAL (BAL is coming out of their bye, gonna be a tough game, Madubuike out for season though). Week 9 at CIN (Burrow on IR, they play NYJ the week prior at home, have 3 straight home games with the Bears being the 3rd). Week 10 vs NYG (Nabers on IR, play SF at home the week prior) 3-2 seems likely, with 4-1 very possible depending on the health of WAS and/or BAL. I think NO and NYG should be wins, leaving the other 3 games as toss ups with CIN being the most likely win, then WAS depending on Daniels and McLaurin's health. Lamar and Daniels kinda scare me because the Bears really don't have a fast spy that can keep up with those QBs if they slip the pressure. So 5-4 or 6-3 heading into MIN. MIN has CLE, PHI, LAC, DET, and BAL before CHI. I could easily see them 4-5 or 5-4 going into that game. GB has CIN, ARZ, PIT, CAR, then PHI in those same weeks. After tying DAL, it would seem like 3-2 is the most likely outcome for their games, maybe 4-1, so 5-3-1 or 6-2-1. DET has the lightest schedule, CIN, KC, TB, MIN, WAS, 1 loss, maybe 2, so 7-2 or 6-3
