  2. He's under contract for more than he's worth, so what...
  3. He might be a homer and see this out despite his targets. Seeing his team get closer to the big dance will be hard to walk away from. He was a 2nd option, then they drafted Odunze and signed Keenan the following year and Loveland and Burden the next. He would have to find a team with lesser talent and in this new era NFL, he would be a 3 or 4 at best.
  4. We judge players by there stats to much. Kmet doesn't get the targets because of many weapons now but consistently has been a league leader in catch rate % . Also a team leader. Clearly we are a better team with both players. They will ask him to restructure his contract and he knows he is no longer a primary target. We get cap space and get to keep him. Problem solved.

Didn't know where to stick this. The starting LT of the Packers got arrested at a NY airport for having an unregistered gun getting on a plane . I never double checked this story but was hoping it's true. Suspension coming?

    Bears Free Agents

Problem: Kmet was on trajectory to be given bell for targets and stats. He likely won’t want to stay as option 5-6 on the Bears.
  7. I can see the Bears drafting C/G. They can use another quality backup if they dont resign McFadden. Theres a couple 2nd-3rd rd C prospects id be good with in the 3rd. Id like to let a Center learn at least a year while being able to step in if needed. As for drafting a RB, it'll most likely be a 2027 target, but I predict BJ will want one he can cook with. We now see why he was rocking crazy after drafting Loveland. I think he has the same desire to find that in a RB.
  8. I don't see it that way. While being a big Kmet fan, I don't see him as a bell cow. He's more of a plow horse. Loveland is purely different. He may be the biggest difference maker on the team. Cole is steady and reliable, but I don't see him consistently winning routes like Colston does. I really like having them both going forward...
  9. There is nothing a young Pro Bowl QB needs more than a good veteran WR. Bring me Myles Garrett!

    Bears Free Agents

I don’t think that’s fair to Kmet. He absolutely got screwed in terms of advancement and improved stats when the Bears drafted Loveland, and then made Loveland a primary target. If they hadn’t drafted Loveland, there is no doubt that Kmet would have received a bunch of Loveland’s 80+ targets. I think if the Bears hadn’t drafted Loveland, we would all be talking about Kmet having a huge breakout year, at or near 1000yds.

    Bears Free Agents

I’d rather have continued OL dominance and Swift, versus a porous OL and Gibbs.
  12. They fired his coach, a losing team, poor stats, and he deserves a pro bowl? I don't get it.
  13. Laughable. I’m sure it’s in large part to fan voting being overwhelming. Like when William Hung and Sanjaya advanced in singing competitions, and the public decided Boaty McBoatfa e was a good name, for anything.
  14. Duhshon Wright made the SB, does anyone want him back?
  15. Due to Maye making the Super Bowl and Allen and others out due to injury, somehow the alternate selection passed up guys like Trevor Lawrence for Shedeur Sanders. Just when you think the award could not get any more ridiculous, they set a new low. At this point, it should not be used as any type of honor.
  16. I think the influence of BJ is already being respected when coaches are getting attention in his first year. It's going to get worse the more successful we become. That's a good thing, because it also will bring in good replacements.
  17. Spot on. Both have great futures in front of them. Two great QBs can exist in the same era. This isn't the time to project who's best, careers will determine that but one is in the SB this year. Daniels, McCarthy and Nix all have had injuries but durability also matters.

  19. Easy schedule or not he still put up 4300 yards in year 2 with 31 TD's and 8 picks plus some very good rushing stats. Yeah, he didn't play the worlds toughest schedule but his jump from year 1 to year 2 combined with his tools tell me he's a pretty special player. Like Caleb, I think Maye made a massive jump forward from year 1 to 2 and you can see the floor is high on both of them given their tools. I guess I don't get the point of putting him down or trying to argue why he isn't good. He's clearly very good and if he were the Bears QB putting up those numbers we'd be exstatic (just like we are with Caleb) and I think both fan bases and franchises should feel real good right now. I expect Maye has room for growth just as I think Caleb does. I do think Caleb has more upside than Maye but its pretty marginal...It doesn't take much for me to squint and see both of them as Top 5 NFL QB's for a long time. The question with Jayden is interesting...does he just be a solid to good QB, ala Stroud or do we see him take a big step forward if he's healthy next year.
  20. I guess all I am saying is a lot of Maye's numbers are inflated and somewhat artificial in nature. The Pats had one of the easiest schedules in NFL history followed by the easiest path to the Super Bowl in quite some time. Maye's offense scored 16 points and won by double digits. They also won a game where they scored 10 pts. They didn't hit 250 yards of total offense in the last 2 games, and won both. The Bears had over 415 yards in both of their playoff games and split them.
  21. That makes a lot of sense. We all saw Johnson himself did interviews in years where he returned to the Lions too.
  22. I agree with this. Im very high on Calebs future, but i dont need to crap on other QBs to protect him or anything like that (not saying anyone else here is doing that!!!) I can see fairly that Maye had a great year. Maybe Maye and Caleb will both end up being long term franchise QBs. I dont see Jayden Daniels though. i always thought he was a fake. Bo Nix is looking good too.
  23. I'm sticking with Caleb but I'm not going to get too down on Maye..he'll be #2 in MVP voting and is coming off a statistically spectacular season (and in year 2) and like Caleb his tools are off the charts strong. I don't think you could go wrong with either of them right now...but to somehow say Maye hasn't been good because his first post-season run he's had some struggles just doesn't cut it for me. I'd also acknowledge that the Texans, Chargers, and Broncos all have outstanding defenses...especially the Broncos and Texans, so it isn't like he's going against some subpar defense. And the weather was atrocious. Doesn't absolve him from his play but right now I'd have those 2 (along with Nix) as the top 3 from the Caleb class (Daniels having dropped to #4 - but he's clearly uber talented too...durability is the question there). The ceiling on Caleb, Maye and Jayden is pretty high, imo.
  24. I think they made things simpler for Maye with the offense. THey did something similar for Daniels last year. Its not usstainable and then you have to learn more of the offense before you can master it. Johnson seems to be feeding Caleb with a firehose. Hes giving him the whole thing. And that means completion percentages under 60%. But it also means as the lightbulb comes on, then youre at full functional. Not another level you have to rise again from. It takes incredible confidence to run your offense rather than simplify things to get more wins. In the long run, I believe it will play out to our advantage.
  25. I am sticking with Caleb as well. Maye is already near his ceiling. He had a 72% Comp this year. Rarely, if ever, does a QB maintain that high of a Comp% YoY. In reality, most drop over 5%. So if his Comp% drops to 66% next year, that's roughly 30 completions, 400 yards, and 2-3 fewer TDs. Still a great season, but he is still primed to regress from his 2025 campaign.
  26. It's not just a QB that gets you to a SB, but winning one will not look bad on a resume.
  27. I wonder if this is one where BJ kind of encouraged him to at least put his name out so he can go through the interview process and gain experience. Feels like BJ is one who is very comfortable in his own skin and certainly has lived the assistant coach journey so wants to be uber supportive of his coaches and this can be part of it - hey go see what else is out there, always good to know (and I support it) and at the same time, I'm hoping you'll stay but you'll also develop better experience for future interviews.
