With me being a negative guy when it comes to sports, let me ask this. Who is your most hated Bears player of all time? I was always under the assumption that no person could make me more pissed off at life than RW McQuartes, but since he wasnt totally horrible in coverage, I have to say Danneal Manning. Who is your most loved Bears player of all time? Without even thinking twice, Neal Anderson.

...he'll be in charge of both pro personnel and college scouting. The college scouts will report directly to him, as will the AD of pro personnel. Basically, he's going to do both Bobby DePaul's job and Greg Gabriel's. He'll report directly to Angelo. I can't say I like this move. Ruskell hasn't whiffed in the draft nearly as often as Angelo, but he's also utterly failed to bring in impact players since he left Tampa Bay. He drafted exactly ONE Pro Bowler in Seattle - Lofa Tatupu. Even Angelo's done better than that. Maybe the whole will be better than the sum of the parts, but I can't see this move helping the Bears' front office learn how to draft.

Compliment for Martz while slamming Turner without calling him out...he should be in politics. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...tz-offense.html Asked about Martz's notoriously extensive playbook, Forte said, "It's not intimidating, it's actually exciting. It's keep the defense on their heels. They're not going to know what we're going to do just by studying what formations we run our plays in or trying to (key) on our tendencies. They're not going to be able to pick up things easily." --------------------------------------------------------------------…

Apparently Marcus Freeman has an enlarged heart, just like Gaines Adams did. His EKG at the Combine was abnormal, so he got a second one. The Bears' doctors either didn't catch his heart condition or didn't think it was a problem (the article doesn't specify,) but when Freeman went to the Colts for a tryout, their doctors said he couldn't safely continue playing. Seriously, I know that awareness of cardiomyopathy among NFL players is just starting to increase, and that these kinds of conditions can be hard to catch in athletes, but it's pretty inexcusable for the Bears' doctors to have missed the diagnosis on both Adams and Freeman. Both these guys passed their ph…

Smiley's shoulder is shot. The Dolphins know it. The San Francisco 49ers knew it when Smiley signed with Miami as an unrestricted free agent in 2008. Smiley missed the final eight games of the season with the shoulder that required surgery in 2007. He injured the shoulder again in 2009 and missed one game and was a backup in three others because of that injury. The 2007 surgery apparently didn't go very well. Smiley, according to two sources, has lost strength in the shoulder over the past two years. He often struggles to lift his right arm over his head and has lost some of the punch and explosion generated at the shoulder. That wouldn't be a problem for a sch…

Thought you guys might find this interesting. I was working an Arena League game the other night and ran into Paul Edinger. Remember him? Paul Edinger Remember his twisting, whirling kicking style? Well, he doesn't do it anymore. I didn't want to be too intrusive so I didn't ask to pose for a photo or anything (photos below), but I did talk to him for a quick bit. He's still trying to get back into the NFL, and he has completely reworked his kicking motion. He said after leaving the NFL he watched tape and realized that the unconventional twist was causing him to pull kicks (who woulda figured?!), and he had to straighten things out as well speed it u…

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...ns/Default.aspx Judge: Vikings Williamses must serve four-game suspensions May 6 5/6/2010 10:53:44 AM | More Minnesota Vikings Kevin and Pat Williams must serve four-game suspensions even though the NFL is their employer and violated their rights under state labor laws, Hennepin County Judge Gary Larson ruled Thursday according to Rochelle Olson of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The players were granted a court hearing at 2 p.m. They will ask Larson to keep in place a restraining order that allows the Williamses to play pending their appeals. Larson presided over a five-day trial in mid-May th…

So here's an interesting article breaking down Martz's tendencies as a playcaller in every season he's coached. It breaks down everything from the big issues (how many receptions went to each receiver, the carry split between the #1 and #2 RBs, what percentage of pass attempts ended in sacks or interceptions, etc.) to the really minute ones (like percentage of QB runs and TE end-arounds, stuff like that.) Then the writer makes a couple of predictions about the Bears, although he's careful to point out that we won't know much until after training camp/OTAs. It's kind of interesting. The one thing that jumped out at me is this: I was very against moving Hester to th…

http://sturminator.blogspot.com/2010/04/co...raft-board.html PFT posted this topic. While this is fascinating, I found it particularly interesting they had Corey Wooton listed as the 3rd best player in the 3rd round. Meanwhile, they had Major Wright listed as the 14th player in the 4th round.

Reading an ESPN mailbag, it was talking about the open competition at LG, and spoke about Shaffer working there. I know this has been touched on, but hey, its slow Two things that standout/bug me about working Shaffer at LG. One. If Shaffer is in the competition at LG, that means he is not in the competition at RT. I personally hope Omiyale can play RT, but why would we simply put him there w/o legit competition? Based on his play last year, I would think he was (at minimum) have to earn a starting job this year. Some had previously said Shaffer was at LG in workouts only due to Beekman playing C while Kreutz was hurt, but it sounds more like we plan to al…

http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...k-/Default.aspx Lutui on block? May 16 5/16/2010 2:31:14 PM | More Mike Sando of ESPN.com reports that the Cardinals might consider trading Deuce Lutui. Trading Lutui would make sense. I think he would have some value, But the Seahawks didn't get a great deal in return for Rob Sims, another established young guard with a future as a starter. Lutui remains an asset to the Cardinals even if he remains with the team, but if they could swap him for a comparable player at a position of greater need and greater value, that would make some sense. Teams are still happy with their draft picks and free-ag…

Trib seemed to hint that he could be a guy the Bears look at. He was once a heck of a player, not sure what he has left in the tank. Tribune specifically mentioned the Bears will be looking for a lineman and a cornerback as players get cut.

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...er/Default.aspx Danieal Manning signs one-year tender May 19 5/19/2010 10:49:34 AM | More The Chicago Bears announced Wednesday restricted free agent defensive back Danieal Manning signed the one-year tender offer he received from the Bears. The contract will pay him $1.176 million. Not like its much in NFL terms, but pissed me off like no other this assclown makes 1.1Million a year
