We're one week out from the start of training camp and it's time to get a feel for the players everyone is expecting to have a breakout season. I'm expecting Alshon Jeffrey to step up this year. He worked hard this offseason and is in far better shape than he was last year. I also think he learned some valuable lessons in those late games with all his pass interference penalties and will be more subtle in how he uses his size advantage this season.

What's everyone doing for opening day? Looking for gameday rituals/ drink of choice for Bears games/ food you make for game time. Ill start: Starting Friday ill prepare about 9 slabs of Baby Back with a rub past down from my old man. Saturday ill smoke them for about 6 to 7 hours. Saturday night I pack everything and prepare everything else. Coolers will have about 8 to 10 cases of beer, Coors light and miller lite, bottle of Jameson and vodka. I'm curious to hear how the majority of fans and AM radio guys in Chicago feel about Williams probably getting the nod over Bostic to start against the Bengals. I personally wanted the rookie out there to start and let Williams come in to spell him while he got his conditioning back a bit. How do you guys feel?

I understand quick reads and throws, even max protect and three step drops, but this offense appears to have emasculated Jay Cutler. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was Shane Matthews at QB. As we painfully learned when than moron Shoop was calling plays with crayons, the dink and dunk only works if the opponent respects the Bears' offense enough to worry about the intermediate and deep balls.

Sucks for us and him, as he was on the franchise tag. Collins has be playing really solid, so hopefully others will step up.

Normally an 0-5 team shouldn't make me nervous. Especially a team that has averaged 4 turnovers a game. But there is a huge difference between an 0-5 Giants team and an 0-5 Jags team. The 0-5 Jags team isn't accustomed to winning and the Giants are. The lack of depth at Dline worries me except that the giants average 56yds/game. Eli's deluded mindset is also helpful:

I was reading some interesting info on Garza. Garza graded out as the second best lineman on the team this year. He is a team leader and has been relatively healthy. I was wanting to move on from him, but have changed my mind and want him for one more year. We still need to add a eventual replacement, maybe find someone in the later rounds.

I realize that it won't mean much if we can't run the ball or pass protect, but still I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion here about Martz's passing scheme. I watched the preseason game, and I replayed every passing down the Bears had. The scheme is GREAT. EVERY down had multiple receivers open, sometimes WIDE open. You know how when we play certain teams, you feel so frustrated at our coverage, like "how are THEY always open, and we NEVER are??" I think we're about to be one of those other teams.
