The Chicago Bears have placed quarterback Jay Cutler and running back Matt Forte on injured reserve according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

I know I've been absent from the board for most of the season but work had called. I still have been fuming over what transpired the last 2 months or so. Here are the Top-10 things that need to happen prior to 2012 if we have any hope: 1. Jerry Angelo needs to go before the draft. If McCaskey want's to make a name for himself on this team, this must be done. JA has pissed draft after draft away and they can't afford to let him shyt the bed again. JA has neglected to get a decent second string. He hasn't taken into account injuries occur or people won't pan out. 2. Martz and his offense need to go. I know this won't be a popular thought, but I would rather see the Bears bring back Martz as OC than to put Cutler and the offense through another learning curve. I see no reason to install another offense when Lovie only has 2 years left on contract. We have an good defense & special teams, but a defecient offense. No matter what/who's system we run, it will always be defecient unless we invest more into it (and many have said this even back in the Grossman/Benson days) Martz's offense can actually be the missing piece to improve Lovies D if we can just get the right personal in it. The current press conference has Ted Phillips sounding defiant and also basically saying that Lovie will remain as coach and Ruskell will head the scouting operations.

I'm happy with the JA firing, and lukewarm on Martz resigning (mostly because I believe JA's failures have made it nearly impossible for Martz to truly succeed or implement a complete offense). However, there is still quite a bit of cause for concern. 1. Ted Phillips is apparently in charge. He is not a football guy. 2. Any new GM will be forced to take Lovie. Most superiors don't like subordinates forced upon them. This is especially true in the world of GMs. 3. Any new OC will almost certainly be weak.
