Sorry guys. But, I'm tired of Angelo's history of trading down in attempt to stockpile 7th round picks who don't make the team or never make an impact. Can we get a real guy, please? What's wrong with trading UP every now and then to get a legitimate impact player? It takes absolutely no courage to trade down. I heard we'll possibly go as low as 42. Really??? Just in time to ensure all top-tier O-linemen are gone. Ditto for DL and CB. But hey, we may be able to get another 3rd level, 5'8 WR! What a joke!

1-29: Derrick Sherrod - OT Miss State Can start right away Alt - Wilkerson DE Temple. Probably gone but i think best DL 2-62: Marvin Austin - DL Cant see the guy who hasnt played in a year going before this pick. If we go DL in 1st we get Ijana here 3-93: Greg Little - WR UNC The big guy and #1 we need. I personally love Hankerson but think hell be gone in 2nd Alt - Niles Paul - WR nebraska 4-127: Quan Sturdivant - LB UNc Great football player who "lacks" measurables I didnt want to ignore Cornerback; however i think our secondary is much better than advertised. Its the middle of our Dline that sucks. Wooten and Peppers are cornerstones an…

From Atlanta Cleveland gets 2 firsts, 1 2nd, and 2 4ths for Julio Jones. That's nuts for a guy who has drops.

  10. Started by dawhizz,

About 44 hours from the start of the first round, here's what I would do if I was the Bears: *Trade down - #29 for a high/mid 2nd, high/mid 4th, and 7th (unless Carimi or Liguit falls, I don't see value for the Bears)** 2a. Orlando Franklin, OT/OG, Miami - An immediate starter somewhere on the line, Franklin brings a nastiness sorely lacking on our offensive line. 2b. Drake Nevis, DT, LSU - Nevis isn't a great fit on a lot of teams, but he's a perfect fit here to replace Tommie Harris. 3. Mason Foster, LB, Washington - Incredibly productive LB from a lesser Pac-10 school taken in the third round, in a bit of a surprise, by the Chicago Bears? Hey, it wo…

So it seems to me that we are going to get an OL and WR somewhere in the draft or FA this year. I was looking at our rosterand came across with the notion that we have alot of beef but little talent. So with that being said out of the 10 players listed on the roster who would you keep and who will you give the pink slip too? Johan Asiata 6'4 300 (G) Robetro Garza 6'2 310 (G) Levi Horn 6'7 315 (T) Herman Johnson 6'7 360 (G) Olin Kreutz 6'2 292 © Lance Louis 6'3 305 (G) Frank Omiyale 6'4 315 (T) J'Marcus Webb 6'8 335 (T) Chris Williams 6'6 315 (T) Edwin Williams 6'3 313(G/C)

From the Sun Times Neil Hayes: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...nsive-line.html It answers most of the o-line questions I've wondered about, such as: Question #1. Martz likes finesse guys who can block and Tice likes beef. Who wins? This quote sounds like Tice does, ‘"We’ve kind of shifted in that we want bigger people,’’ Angelo said. ‘‘So we’re looking for tackles who can play guard rather than guards who can play center. So there’s a little bit of a shift in our thinking that way philosophically. I know coach Tice wants bigger people. Staffs we’ve had before, they weren’t as committed to that thinking. But there’s a little bit more of a …

I hope to see all of you in the chat room & message board on draft days. This site has been extremely slow and I'm sure the lock-out is responsible. Regardless, I love the draft. Since the notorious Cedric Benson draft, I annually take an "Al Bundy Vacation" sy this time. This is where I tell my family not to speak to me. I bunker down in the garage in front of the TV's and the lap-top and immerse myself in the draft, while enjoying copious amounts of Bud Light. While the dates are readily listed, I had trouble finding the start times for the draft each day. Based on Chicago time: Thursday, April 28--7:00 Friday, April 29--5:00 Saturday, April 30--11…

Sorry. I know this is for the football forum but in case you were under a rock, thought I would pass along that today is a big day in Chicago "other" sports. The Bulls and Pacers meet up to close out their series (yes I said close out) then Blackhawks meet the Canucks to HOPEFULLY advance.

I've seen several mention the hope that the Bears do not reach on draft day. This is especially true with the first round pick. Made me think of the following question: Would any of these guys be a reach? Tyron Smith Anthony Castonzo Nate Solder Mike Pouncey Gabe Carmini Derek Sherrod If the answer is yes, then it's a bit of surprise to me. But that's player evaluation for you. People disagree. If the answer is no, then there is no reason one of those guys shouldn't be available when the Bears pick. And the guy who they have rated the highest should be selected.

  19. http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1400 Drafting for a Better Future Instead of an Ugly Present Benjamin Franklin once wrote, “All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse.” It is with that in mind that I note Dan Pompei‘s review of the outside linebackers in this year’s NFL draft for the Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0419-nfl-draft-outside-linebac20110418,0,4899973.story). Here’s what he says about the Bears need there: “Only one outside lin…
