Cutler has to play better. He looked lost today. He seemed to have the Grossman on NYE mentality today--the "f*** it, this game is meaningless" mentality. Hopefully he brings it in 2 weeks. Not to make excuses, but maybe Bennett is that valuable. Knox, Hester, and Olsen never make a catch that they shouldn't. Forte played well again. He's definitely a secret weapon going into the playoffs. Why did Martz shy away from Forte running it (again)? Stupid coaching there. The OL was beat on numerous times today. It's bad when Garza is turning his head on blitzes and Manumaleuna can't keep Woodson in front of him. Peppers has gone 2 straight games now where he…

Game thread.

what is wrong with this team?

Since it's a division rival I figured this mattered enough for its own thread.

So Favrre's career ends with a Wootten sack, a concussion and a Bears' Victory? I'll take it!

I have a question that I've been thinking about for a few weeks. Is Chester Taylor tipping off plays? Clearly his performance hasn't been good in the second half of the season and when you compare his numbers to Forte's they are headed in opposite directions. I definitely think Taylor himself is not running well as he doesn't seem to be hitting the hole very decisively. However, he also seems to face more tacklers in the backfield than Forte does. Seeing that everyone else out there is the same why are defenses seemingly so good at keying on Taylor's runs? Is it just his hesitation, Martz' play calling, or is his alignment pre-snap giving defenders a clue whe…

I know I've only been here 2 months, I wanted to wish each and every one of you and your families a Happy New Year. May your 2011 be blessed and full of Bear victories!!!

Link. Team obviously didn't want these guys getting away if next season was put in jeopardy.

Good season and nice job Crushers for repeating as league champ. You get 60% of the prize. Acedthesobrietytest came in 2nd and gets 30% and Papabear came in 3rd and gets 10%. On Monday I will get everything in order on the league safe site and get everyone paid.

Since it's packer week, I got to thinking about the things in football I hate the most. Mine, in order, are the following: 1) The packers 2) Brett Farv 3) Ridiculous seat prices and PSLs that continue to rise 4) Locked Thanksgiving home games for Dallas and Detroit 5) John Madden What are yours?

Nobody does it better: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=7442 "In the eight games since their bye week, the Bears are the only NFL team to call more runs (238) than passes (231). It’s probably no coincidence that they’ve won seven of those eight contests, clinching both a division title and a first-round playoff bye in the process."

After tonight's Philadelphia Eagles loss, the Chicago Bears have clinched a first round bye. They still have a shot at the #1 seed should the Falcons lose.

Looking at all these NFC teams hovering around 7-3 is making me nervous, thinking that if we don't win our division, we have a good chance of missing the playoffs entirely. I hope this doesn't end up like the Patriots a few years ago when they went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. The Packers are looking invincible now, even with their injuries, that makes the final game of the season probably the determining factor on who makes the playoffs and who stays home. This makes the Eagles game a MUST win, and beating one of the Jets, Patriots, or Packers is a MUST as well. If we don't go atleast 4-2 in our last 6 games, we might be in trouble. Even then, I think the Packers probab…

Regardless of how often the Bears run the cover-2, we can all agree that the cover-2 serves as their primary defense and the rest of the time it's just a variation or modification from the base. Having said that, it seems that every team in the NFL realizes the Bears are going to do the following most of the game: 1] Keep LBs near the LOS at the snap 2] Keep DBs 5yds off the WRs at the snap 3] Keep Safeties deep That is a recipe for easy slants, curls, and square-ins. Those have burned the Bears for years. So, where is the change? What about the following wouldn't work from time to time? 1] Move the outside LBs laterally to step into the passing lan…
