NFL SUSPENDS METCALF Posted by Mike Florio on October 13, 2008, 5:38 p.m. The NFL has announced the suspension of Bears guard Terrence Metcalf for four games. Metcalf was suspended for violating the league’s policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances. The suspension is effective immediately. Metcalf will be eligible to rejoin the team on Monday, November 17. Metcalf has appeared in each of the team’s six games in 2008, but he has started none of them. For his seven-year career, all of which has been spent with the Bears, Metcalf has 25 starts and 84 game appearances. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/

Vasher out before the game. Tillman, McBride & Manning hurt during it leaving us with Graham & Hamilton as our only healthy CB's Any word on the injuries??

Maybe this isn't that big of a deal. We seem to beat everything in sight but the NFC South. We will obviously now lose to NO despite how much we may be up by in the 4th. Let's hope that's it. And that we don't face to face any of them in the playoffs! How's that for Kool-aid?

I have seen many areas called out, but to me, more than any other key, we are simply losing the battle of the trenches. Offense Atlanta is not a great run defense, but we made them look pretty dang good. Prior to playing us, Grant (GB) hit them for 83 yards, and Grant has sucked this year. Carolina tag teamed them w/ Williams and Stewart for about 110. Larry Johnson, who has looked old and tired, racked up 121, and even Jamal Charles got into the action for another 40. TB ran all over them too w/ Graham (116) and Dunn (50). Then we face them, and we watch Forte getting hit early and often in the backfield. He ended up getting 76 yards on 20 carries, but t…

Well, this guy has shown that he can tackle. However, he is FAAAR from replacing Vasher in the lineup. The dude has no ball skills and cannot make the simplest of interceptions. Ryan made several looping throws that should have been easily picked off if the CB made a better adjustment to the ball. It was very frustrating to watch. We need our boys back. As much as we've been hearing from Lovie about our backup CBs, these dudes didn't impress at all.

All the falcons needed was a field goal and he decides that his injury obliterated Defense is going to be the better tool even in a more difficult position disadvantage then their Special Teams on a routine play. The players made tons of mistakes throughout the game but they still brought him the lead with 11 seconds left. He was not tired or hurt when he made that mistake he was just dumb.

IMHO we are losing games not because of the offense or because of the defense but because our OC Turner has no imagination for winning. Why do you keep giving the ball to McKie with 3rd and 1 or 4th and one. This is two games that he has done that. With the way teams are stacking the box you have to be a thinker, and I think(I KNOW) that the fake handoff bootleg pass will work to the TE every time. Not to mention that one of the TE we have sitting on the bench can catch and is 6'7' much taller than the 5'11' DB we face every week. Next we are making dumb calls....with 11 seconds you squib kick the ball? Kick it deep and either let them return it to the 30 with about …

Our cornerback depth is in shambles. Hopefully, Vash is back next week and the other 3 are not out long. Wow. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,5307510.story Peace

Noots’ Notes-Game 6: 22-20 Loss at Atlanta By Michael Nudo The Bears (3-3) somehow managed to get into a game they had no business to be in with just a few minutes remaining. They then managed to lose a game they had no business losing with only seconds to go. This game was clearly mismanaged. Bear defenders helped build a Canton bust for Matt Ryan on Sunday (AP Photo/Dave Martin). OFFENSE QuarterbackKyle Orton (26-43-286, TD) did all he could do to put the Bears in position to win the game. He led the Bears on an excellent touchdown scoring drive at the end of the fourth quarter to put the Bears ahead with only 11 seconds to go. He threw a perfect…

Which way do the Bears look to rebuild as the offense keeps getting stronger and defense and ST keeps slipping. With a 3-3 record, which could be 5-0 as close as the losses were, the Bears weakness have been: DL, DB, OL. The defensive line has not been putting the kind of pressure on the QB as Lovies D requires. The depth behind often injured Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman needs to be improved since these guys seem to find some time on the inj. list every year. At safety, Mike Brown has stayed healthy, but is he holding back to help insure another contract in the NFL. The Oline has been much better than thought, but they don't seem to have the push/power to w…

The only way we are getting into the playoffs is by winning our division. Need to go 4-2 or 5-1 in the division to win it. Peace

Was the drive at the end engineered by Orton. Outstanding. I was hoping he would break through with a game ending drive. Can't blame him for the loss. He looks like our starter for years to come. Peace

Everyone is saying that the clock didn't start running until after Matt Ryan threw the ball. The comcast guys are saying the clock didn't show up on the last play either. Something smells fishy.

Man that HURT. What happened? 1. Our defense couldn't stop 3rd and longs. 2. Our OLine sucks when rushing (but are ok in pass protection). 3. We didn't use our TEs enough in the first half. 4. Not much pressure on defense, even when blitzing. 5. Special Teams coverage and the damn squib kick at the end.

Matt Forte is a workhorse. He proved it at Tulane and he's proving it for the Bears. Forte is a fantasy owner's dream. He is a true feature back and doesn't come off the field in short-yardage or third-down situations. Forte has appeared on the injury report just once in the first five weeks. He was listed as probable in Week 2 with "ankle soreness." But since the Bears' season opener, Forte's yards-per-carry average has dropped sharply. On his last 61 totes, Forte holds a Cedric Benson-like 2.7 YPC. In Forte's last two games, he's mustered only 2.3 yards a carry. And in one of those contests he was going against the Lions. As a senior for the 4-8 Green Wave, Fo…

Endurance is strength of rookie RB Forte The Sun-Times has an interesting article stating an argument that Forte's decline in running yardage is simply not using him enough. I am not sure I agree, as I applaud Turner for turning to the air when defenses stack the box, but it does seem to have some legitimate points. I was wondering what your thoughts are on this article?
