Moon posted this earlier... John Mullin ‏@CSNMoonMullin 3h #Bears question w/ DT Henry Melton: would u draft a DT rehabbing ACL tear? would you pay him $2M UFA? #BearsTalk http://bit.ly/1ijdi6M If Melton's really only gonna cost 2M, which if he hits the market I doubt, sign me up. At 2M I think it's possible to sign both him and Bennett. I love Aaron Donald, but in some of the latest mocks I've seen him go 12th to the Giants and 11th to the Titans. The SI mock added that it wouldn't surprise anyone if he goes in the top 10. It might be wise not to count on him being there like I have been.

I will predict our FAgency moves so everybody can ignore my hits and condemn my misses Our own: Wootten D. J. Williams N. Collins Bowman Tillman-I think he ends up back and we lose Melton Britton Palmer Others: W. Young?DE-I think they add someone young with upside and dont win out on big names bidding wars C.Clemons/S- A solid younger player J.Arenas/CB-just a backup but can be a KR Dexter McCluster/RB-a speed backup to Forte-SWR- and KR Probably wont be right on any of these picks but t…

Two items caught my eye yesterday: Chad Henne signed a two year deal for $8mil Matt Cassell signed a two year deal for $10mil If that's the market for backup and/or care-taker QBs while rookies learn the ropes, goodbye Josh McCown. He did a great job for us and if he can now get a similar contract to those above then that's great for him and his family. It's just not a deal the Bears can do given all the needs on defense.

Fanspeak has a (do your own draft) This is how the lastest turned out for me and I basically going with BPA 1-Greg Roberson/OT/Aub---------he was there so I had to take him-Bushrod to RT? Mills goes inside? 2-Stephen Truitt/DE/ND-best DL on board at tie-athletic with upside 3-Cris Borland/MLB/Wis- still there and could start day 1 4-Anthony Johnson/DT/LSU- not top rated but highly respected, will play first year 5-Antone Exum/S-CB/VT- could play either position a good valve here 6a-De Thomas/Ore-adds to a already good O 6b-M. Huff/S-CB/Wyo-can play either position- good stats and good speed Now its your turn to show what you go…

Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 19m Listed Mike Mitchell (Panthers) and Ryan Mundy (Giants) as 2 safeties that could be in play for #Bears this morning. They are targeted. I assume this means we've been in contact with them. Mitchell is listed as the 94th ranked FA by NFL.com. Played for Chico in Carolina, and that D was pretty damn good. Rotoworld had this to say about him "Playing on a one-year deal last season, Mitchell racked up 66 tackles, four interceptions, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was a play-maker for a secondary that doesn't have many of them. Mitchell is still only 27. He'd have a nice little market if he reached free agency." …

Players are starting to fall so what does that tell us? Henne/QB--2 year-8 mil Cassal/QB-2 year-10 mil Probably means we say good bye to McCown--a better QB than the two mentioned and we wont be paying that kind of money for a backup QB Shields/CB-4year-39 mil Ross/CB-1 year-570 k Greenwood/CB-1 year-570 k Grimes/CB-4 year-32 mil Hall/CB-4 year-17 mil Hayden-1 year-840k Probably means Peanut will be closer to Hall (30) money I would say a 2 year 6.5 mil(dont see the Bears paying that) Pollard/S-2 year-6.3 Allen/S- 1 year-955k Stuckey/S-4 year-? Were looking at Mundy and Mitchell I would say contracts if we sign them will be a…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...mel-tucker.html Lane gives some insight into how Tucker ran the D in Jacksonville. He is right, I can't name 5 players from that defense that ranked #6. In fact I can't name two (one name only because of Lane). Sounds like we are going to see a lot of different looks from our defense this year. Can't say results will be different but after a decade watching the Lovie 2 if nothing else at least it will have me wondering what we're going to do next.

Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 9m .@DanWiederer reports #Bears closing in on a contract for LB D.J. Williams to return. http://bit.ly/1h7u6by More than likely another vet min deal, or near it. Believe he played for a mill last year, probably gets less after another injury plagued season. Would provide nice competition to Bostic and SMD (Greene as well I suppose). I still expect 2 of those 3 to be the starters. ****EDIT*** Done deal, details later.

So let's say we're sold on Trubisky. I'm not completely 100%, but I see potential. Nonetheless, this class is LOADED. At what point do you consider drafting a guy if he slips? I've seen mocks where guys like Josh Allen slips to the third, and Baker Mayfield slips to the fourth, which would be unbelievable to me. I'd say the third or fourth round is when the Bears should start considering the QB position. Regardless of depth, the QB position needs to be considered every year until a stud backup is acquired.
