We are just past the halfway point in the season and based on preseason projections, these are the 5 biggest surprising teams and 5 biggest disappointments so far: Surprises: 1. MIN 7-2 2. PIT 7-2 3. ARZ 6-4 4. LAC 6-3 5. WSH 7-4 Disappointments: 1. MIA 3-6 2. DAL 3-6 3. CHI 4-5 4. CIN 4-6 5. NYJ 3-7 At this point, you can almost swap one team per Division (MIN > CHI, PIT > CIN, WSH > DAL) on the projections. You would expect all the HCs on the disappointing teams are on the hot seat and some may still be fired before the end of the season if those teams keep losing.

Looks like a possible high ankle and MCL sprain. That would be 4-6 weeks, if any tears, it might be longer. Tough blow in a contract year, but on the flip side, Herbert looked really good.

Bears traded their two 7th round picks (239 and 241) to move into the end of the sixth and take this guy. Born in South Africa and grew up playing rugby. Seems like he progressed finally a bit this year. Wonder if he might qualify as an international roster exemption which can sometimes be useful with a late pick you don’t want to lose. Heard the show say he can maybe play inside and outside similar to Dayo and Shemar. Oh, and I’d say he’s a pretty good athlete . . .

Ryan Bates is obviously another stop gap acquisition. He plays C/OG. He wasn't good enough to start for Buffalo to so he isn't good enough for us. Swith has over 2K rushing as a Bear, within 9 more yards he would pass Brad Muster for 20th. Monangai needs 33 rushing yards to pass Montgomery's 2022 for 50th all-time. DJ Moore just passed 3K Receiving Yards as a Bear, good for 17th all-time. Kmet is 19th at 2,923. For receptions, Kmet is 10th at 286, Moore is 14th at 243. I listen to the Score everyday during football season ,lots of football talk. Steve Rosenbloom repeated a great idea. Cant stand Rosenbloom or Bernstien , they both are arrogant, think there always right and negative Nellys. Trade Fields for Tomlin. (see Clab Williams thread). Its been suggested the owner wants a fresh start in Pittsburgh with a new coach. Tomlin has a great winning record but hasnt won a playoff gme since 2017. Tomlin is a coach Bears fans would love. Who knows if there is any legs to that rumor but its nice to think about.

Something I've noticed, the last month, is that we have not run any exotic blitzes from our secondary. Also, not seeing twists and stunts, which can also help and hurt the run defense. I remember discussing the value of having CJGJ and Gordon on the field, at the same time, due to their potential versatility. That flamed out about the same time DA stopped implementing CJGJ in the pass rush. Am I onto something?

I was thinking, which players on the Bears have the best chance at a Pro Bowl, based on last year's performance, and a little projection? On defense, I was thinking Edmunds and Brisker. On offense, Moore and Jenkins or Davis seem like they have the best chance. Fields might have a shot. The best QBs in the NFC from last year were Hurts, Cousins, Goff, Smith, and Jones. What do you think? Do the Bears have anyone you think has a good shot at a Pro Bowl selection this year?
