Rosenhaus and Briggs totally got their lunch money taken in this process by Jerry Angelo and the Bears. It is good to see Briggs back, as it gives the guys behind him another year to learn the game and system.
Numbers don't always tell the whole story... Without a guy like Urlacher to take the attention, and a system that allows him to do what he does, Briggs doesn't put up half of the numbers he does. Besides no one should be making that much for a guy who doesn't change the game. Brian changes the game, Lance does not.
Damn the Bears are doing a great job of locking down the core. Tommie Harris is the biggest name left, and he still has a couple of years before he has to get taken care of.
Lance Briggs has until 3pm today to sign a regular contract, otherwise the only contract he can play under in 2007 is the franchise tag and $7.2million. If he doesn't sign today, I'll bet we don't see him until week 10.
Tommie Harris has to be the #1 priority right now. With the way the Bears drafted and sign to cover for Briggs, I am not nearly as worried about getting a deal done for him.
I think you burn something like 0.01-0.015 per hour IIRC, so if there was the usual hour to two hour delay of getting him down to the station, booked, processed, blood taken etc, there is no doubt he was driving drunk.
