  1. If the Bears were desperate for DT depth I'd be more interested now, but the Bears aren't desperate for DT depth.
  2. I get why he's intriguing physically as a substantial upgrade from Knox in terms of being a deep threat...but the attitude issues just have to be considered paramount here, and he's still showing it in virtually every statement.
  3. The problem of course is that if Randy Moss comes in and isn't the #1 WR, Randy Moss will get frustrated and sit on the bench pouting.
  4. Here's a great bit of evidence that Moss is still the same guy he was before last year and still doesn't "Get it".
  5. Siefert has a read on Randy Moss and the Bears, and how if the Bears decide they're not interested it really shows that Moss will have a problem finding an y interes.
  6. I'd think this is a good idea anyway since out of the 2, Davis would be much more plausible to outperform his contract than Finley.
  7. The person going to get their head ripped off? The guy who catered the meals for the Vikings. That guy is so dead.
  8. The 999/1 St. Louis Cardinals scoff at those odds.
  9. To be fair, there's still other work that could be done...the Bears are probably pretty likely to clear out a few guys. Frank Omiyale for example seems to have a $2.5 million cap hit next year, and any GM would be crazy to hold onto that. Getting a long term deal with Forte would probably save some under the cap space as well, rather than having him eat up a large chunk with the franchise tag.
  10. If the Bears don't pay that, then this offseason is a failure. There's really no way around it in my eyes. The need is that great.
  11. Problem with that is, there's really no reason to assume that Knox will play football this year, if ever. Thus, the Bears sorta have need for a down-the-list WR.
  12. If it were me, it would be WR without a 2nd thought.
  13. If that's the case, then make the big signing a #1 WR, fill the other holes you need with 2nd tier signings, and spend the first round pick on either a DE or an LT.
  14. One of those guys will get franchised.
  15. The question is not whether the Bears can recruit him, its whether they'd be willing to prioritize DE over OT and maybe WR.
  16. The Texans will almost certainly pass on Mario Williams getting the tag. They're supposedly not in great cap shape, and since Williams is on the tag this year, he'd be on the 2nd year tag next year for a whopping $16.5 million. He won't be tagged. They might be able to sign him before the FA period or otherwise, but they will not be tagging him.
  17. Honestly, I could live with Williams coming back...but not as the #1 WR. If Williams took that role of the "3rd WR" that the Bears really don't have right now, that'd be acceptable, but that only works if the #1 WR also is made to appear (and if the staff is comfortable with Williams still).
  18. I think all of those needs are fillable...as long as you don't insist on both a pro-bowl LT and a pro-bowl WR. Add in the draft, and you can pull off 2 WR's, 1 CB, 1 rotationl-level OT, 1 DE, a LB, and keeping McCown around as backup QB, along with a few other positions. Finding the money for both a top flight WR and somehow pulling off a top flight LT might be a problem, since I'm not sure I see any of the latter.
  19. Unfortunately, that's the pre-free agency position the Bears are in, they have some obvious needs, but it's really hard to project the draft until we know how the FA period goes. All I will say is that the Bears pass-catchers need help. Desperately. The Bears could spend their first 3 draft picks on WR's and still go into the season not confident that they have enough warm bodies to catch passes from Cutler. The corps is that depleted if they can't count on Knox, esp. since Hester is really only a rarity at receiver. WR: Bennett Hester Sanzenbacher TE: Spaeth. Say what you want about the O-line weakness...at least there are bodies to fill those position.
  20. The problem right now of course is that the Bears actually do need a TE with the roster they currently have under contract, since Davis is not under contract for next year.
  21. We're judging NFL free agent's based on their 40 times?
  22. No one in their right mind would call the Steelers a surprise pick for next years super bowl.
  23. How can "the team that lost the NFC championship in 2011 and was on a winning streak in 2012 until losing their starting QB" having a good year be a surprise?
  24. And yet, the teams that played in the super bowl each gave up less than 20 points and made it a competitive game basically by sitting in the cover-2 and refusing to give up big plays.
  25. Like a D-lineman beating Frank Omiyale.
