  1. I dunno, Im not mad Lovie found out but I think whoever told Lovie should of went to him first, and if it was a nobody, talked to a captain.
  2. Ive been hearing people from a lot of places wanting Griese to get the start and I never gave it a second thought because Ill admit since he was drafted I am a huge supporter of Rex Grossman. It is hard to not look at the numbers though as Im trying to be impartial. The best conclusion I can come up with is that Orton obviously is not the man yet to lead this team and nobody is saying he is so hes out. I do think that right now Griese would bring a little bit more to the table but I dont think its enough to not keep our four year experiment of Rex off the field before he gets a full shot. If the defense was good enough to win games last year they can do it this year because I think they are significantly improved, on paper at least. Both guys are capable of leading the team back from a deficit and have the potential to score on any drive. If the receivers develope and Grossman gains fluidity with them I think he will have great success even with the mediocrity of our receivers and tight end. If he can manage the game and limit mistakes and lead us to high teens points every game we should easily win the division. Now, if Grossman gets hurt I think his days in a Bears uniform are done and he will sign as a back up somewhere. I also think if Grossman is the cause of early losses then Griese deserves a shot. The team also rallies around Grossman and as sad as it is to say will probably play harder for him. If he gets both our running backs healthy and happy and just one receiver to step up he will have a ton of pressure lifted of his shoulders and I think that is important for success. The Bears are in a unique position of being "super bowl contenders" and having offensive question marks at every skill position. Basically my point of all this is that I think barring disaster Grossman should and will be the starter week one, and before everyone starts all these debates again we should wait it out, let the ground game and defense win us games and see if Grossman is the guy we hope he is. If he isnt, play Griese and explore new options in the offseason. What do you guys think?
  3. Im curious who told Lovie, to me thats not as bad as leaking to the media but its still pretty bad.
  4. Im curious about that too. I doubt it was either Urlacher or Brown but after the hit that caused the injury and the rumor of them not going to see if he was ok in the locker room, they definately in my eyes dont seem like the types of guys who would do something like this but if wasnt guys of that stature who else would do it?
  5. I know he wasnt supposed to leave the field but it sounds like there are rumors that he left the stadium completely. Wasnt there anyone in the training room or didnt anyone see him. It seems like it would be easy to figure out.
  6. We should know really quickley when the season starts if Grossman is our man or not. If by week two or three he isnt doing anything and the team isnt winning then he will get benched and maybe even cut in the offseason. I dont think that will be the case. I think the team will rally around him and he will get better every week and hopefully become the leader we are all hoping.
  7. He is acting like a punk but I do think it would be hard to be on a team where everybody hates you. Im not saying he didnt inflict this on himself but stuff like this is only gonna make matters worse.
  8. They didnt mention anything abou it on PTI but it makes snese. They did say the Benson asked if it was one of his teammates that ratted him out and they respnded by saying, actually, it was a few of them.
  9. Neither did I. Lets be positive though, that is around the age when receivers come into their prime
  10. They reported on the score that Benson has been demoted to number 2 running back for his antics at the Chargers game. Benson actually commented and said he accepts the punishment.
  11. Very true, between the injuries and hold outs between the two of them it really seems whoever steps up first is gonna start. I dont think it matters that much though because if theyre both healthy theyre gonna be very close to splitting carries with the current producer being in to start.
  12. I agree. I do think this is Rexs job to lose but if isnt producing early then we need to play Griese. This isnt a rebuilding year for the Bears, this is gonna be the peak of the franchise for a few years. They might not have the most sound defense with all the missed tackles and occasional big plays given up but they are a hard hitting, big play, strike fear in opponents swarming unit that can win games alone. All they need from their offense is to not lose games, like last year, but also have the POTENTIAL to come back from a deficit if needed. Orton couldnt do that. I do think he did an amazing job based on the situation but he didnt have the accuracy for big plays. Give Rex the ball and see what he can do, if anything else to keep the team happy, and if he doesnt produce quick, bring in Griese and start him off like they did Orton with a smaller playbook and let him earn the offenses respect.
  13. They definately wont trade him because of the enormous cap hit they would take because of the contract they gave him but this is definately become a problem getting progressively worse. Having a team who alienates a player like that could have reprucussions that spill on to the field. Things like that have been worked out on teams Im sure but that and the combination of the team rallying around Jones combined with Bensons antics could create a huge problem. The more I sit back waiting for all this to blow over the more it seems to be getting worse. In reality I think who ever gets healthy first is gonna be the starter and then will take about 60% of the carries. This would be a lot easier to feel bad for Benson if he didnt do things like his hold out or walk of the field in a game. To get a whole team to dislike you would take quite a bit. Im curious to see how it all unfolds. Anyway you slice it, Benson is the most important back we have now because Jones isnt getting any younger and has injury problems and AP has shown flashes of being servicable but he is a career third stringer. This seems to be quite a mess.
  14. You have their offense averaging 27 points a game, if I did the math right, I really doubt they will be having that many 30 and 40 point games. You also have them giving up a lot of points. They dont play those kinds of shoot out games. They will have a lot of depth at running back and will be trying to win games on the ground and defense. IMO I think one of the benefits of having a gun slinger at qb is that he could score on any drive with a big play, not saying he will but he has the possibility too. That is something Orton couldnt do. If they were behind it was pretty much over. I do agree with you on their struggle in prime time but hopefully the show they put on against Atlanta last year will boost their confidence. I 100% think they will win the division and have a lot of success against their rivals but divisional games are always tough and anything can happen. Im gonna say something like 10-6 maybe 11-5 and a comfortable 2 game lead to win the division. Their postseason success is contingent on a lot of things, Grossman, improved secondary play, at least one receiver to step up...
  15. Rashied Davis is gonna be a great guy to have around for a few years. Talk about versatile. He can play offense, defense and special teams. Thats very valuable these days. Kind of reminds me of Troy Brown.
  16. Im gonna start this off by saying that I wouldnt want either one of these clowns but one or the other will be cut and they wont be too expensive IMO. Rogers and Mike Williams are on the chopping block in Detroit and one is gonna be cut. Mike Williams is a bonafide punk and Charles Rogers makes Grossman as durable as Favre. Bradley has been quite dissapointing this preseason but I know he is very young and has little experience. On a good note I think Berrianhas finally turned the corner and established himself as or number two and is really impressing me with his pass catching ability. Add that with his speed and he might turn some heads this year. I also havent beento up to date with my trade rumors but I doubt Porter will be traded because I dont think they plan on keeping Moss very much longer.
  17. As much as I would like to have a stud safety via the draft next year, I really hope they go offense in the first round.
  18. Moose didnt play last night either. I wasnt that dissapointed in Grossmans play, I dont think he would of made some of those throws, especially the pick in the endzone, if it was a regular season game. I think they were just experimenting.
  19. It is only preseason and our number one and two running backs were out but they still need to show some improvement. If they dont get it together by the end of preseason we may get off to a rockyier start then we expected.
  20. It doesnt seem like we are gonna trade him, it will be good to have the depth if they can both be healthy.
  21. This probably will be the year where Tommie Harris goes wild. He is gonna be a hell of a player and this year is as good as any to start.
  22. Hopefully Brown comes back and our biggest problem is having too much depth. Injury prone or not, the d plays better when Browns out there.
  23. I tore my achilles a little over a year ago and I could never imagine playing football again. Every morning when I wake up I have to limp around because of how stiff it is. I couldnt imagine what that must be like for Brown.
  24. Have these talks still been going on for Jones? Hasnt his injury really put a damper on all this?
  25. Im guessing that the Bears offense will really start to click in the third preseason game. Practice aside, they havent had a lot of game situation repsas a unit.
