  1. Agreed on Briggs. He bring only a fraction of what Url brought as a team leader. There is room for improvement mind you. But, from what I've seen so far, it's not even close. That is a void that still needs to be filled. Briggs can up his game and do it to a satisfactory level. But it won't reach an Url level without having an Url-like player. A guy like Bostic could be a candidate as a longshot...
  2. You still have an "optimist" side?
  3. Well put BF2K. Honestly, I felt as though if we would have got the on-sides, we would have scored again. As you said, the hole dug was too deep and time was our enemy.
  4. Agreed. However, I'm not really sure it's the physicality that we are truly missing. I lean on the leadership void that appears missing. Briggs is no Url. Peppy is no Url. Peanut is no Url. I'm just not seeing a real leader, especially by example, out there right now. Peppers finally had a good game, but his personality doesn't fit that of a true leader. Briggs doesn't appear to have it. I think we all miss Url of old... And yesterday, I'mp retty sure even a hobbled old Url would have made a play or 2 to help the cause. But, his departure spell as much for the future as it does for the present. This team is moving on. And next season, I bet many of the names mentioned above will have moved on... We need to get younger. On the OL and at WR, we did that. Now we need to do so on the DL and the secondary. Virtual ooposites of the same coin.
  5. Those stats look pretty much spot on to what my gut's been telling me. It's really just not been working except our red zone D. Either Tucker really is not doing a good job, or our guys aren't that good (either age or talent). I have a feel it's a little of everything. We could see massive defensive turnover in staff and in players next season if we don't see improvement.
  6. McCellin looks to be a bust to me. I've seen a lot of him. And really, haven't seen him. I hope he can be a contributor. But his value for when we picked him was way too much cost for the return we're getting on the investment. Bad pick Phil. Now, just don't do it again. Next year's draft will be about the DL and the secondary I figure...
  7. I'm actually right there with you! I think there should always be emphasis on ANY divisional opponent. The next, on conference opponents. It's about getting to the post-season...and those game simply matter more. But, with 4 games into his tenure, I'll give Wonka an easy pass on this. He may sing a slightly different tune on our match-up with them on 11/10.
  8. Agreed overall... Cutler was responsible for the loss. He was also responsible for almost coming back. We have fight. He was also responsible for our 3 wins. It's best to lose this game now, than in December. Learn from it Bears. There is no debate on Cutler. He is ours. He will be through this season. If he plays decently, he will be beyond it. Ride this season out. It is a journey. We are learning. If we don't learn from this loss, then we have failed. But losing this game is not failing. It's a bump on the road to victory.
  9. Agreed. We want hungry. Not satiated.
  10. Jiminy Christmas! Trestman exudes so much class he's like the entire university system!
  11. Nor do I. I see it was a compliment to Peanut...
  12. Ha! I worry about Peanut too. He's an integral part of the D right now. He will be missed sorely if he can't go. But, we're not dead w/o him. We just need the front 4 to finally get some consistent pressure... Peanut is just about the best there is! I'm sure no WR want to get him on coverage! Calvin's comments are simple respect... I would think Frey...for size?
  13. My point exactly. That was almost 30 years ago. Today's NFL is not that NFL. The Dophins in the 70's did it too I think if I remember correctly... Bottom line, if your starting QB is gone...the odds of winning/getting to a SB in the NFL today is extremely improbable.

    That's virtually a dream distribution...
  17. No team can win a SB without their starting QB. I doubt we'll ever see that day of another Hostedler situation. The hope is that your back-up can steer the ship right enough while your starter gets healthy. Agaisnt bad teams, you'd hope your back-up can help not lose. Against good team, most will probably lose...
  18. As a back-up, sure. That's it, and it better be cash freindly...
  19. Basically agree... Smith will coach again, and at a high level.
  20. Fully agree. In fact, He could be the next Dallas HC...
