I will drink to that! Then again, I'd probably drink to about anything...

Dammit! I'm cranky too! ...but definitley old!

Of course! I would expect no less! Yes. I do want to do my best at leaving well enough alone...but that doesn't mean I can't express my thoughts about what happened as it could and probably does have an impact on what is currently happening. Some of it good...Smith's guys certainly know their turnovers! Listen Alaska, I know you have the softest spot in your heart for Smith for some reason. Looking back, I can appreciate what he brought and relish in the wonderful D we saw, as I mentioned before. But I won't hold back saying a few negatives if I feel that it is pertinant to the conversation. I don't think a soul here, or any Bears fan thought the D would improve. No doubt that Smith and Marinelli are the big guns of D. And their imprint will last a number of years. I don't think anyone knew what to really expect from Trestman. So far, he's delivering on a number of levels. We won't really know until we see far more actuals. But, what has transpired gives just cause to be pleased. Smith's record is indeed proven. We simply differ on what that proves exactly... But, Trestman is our coach now. And I'm all in. I like what I've seen so far. It bodes well for the future. That's all we have. And right now, I'll take it and run with it! GO BEARS!

C'mon C-dog...there's plenty of issues we've all made comments about that are speculative. If we kept everything "fact-based", all we'd write are stat lines. While not a fact, it isn't out of the realm of reasonableness that Emery leaned on Smith for some opinion on some or all of the picks made last season. We will never know to what extent, if any. But, to deny the possibility, if not probability of Smith's influence is just not looking at everything with a wide lens. That said, it doesn't matter. These guys are on our roster. Emery picked them. And he ultimately gets the praise or blame. McLelllin looks to be a bust (as a 1st round pick, although he could end up being a decent contributor), Jeffrey looks to be worth the pick, and our top picks this past draft all look pretty darn good. Our late round picks are a mixed bag, which is what one would reasonably expect. So, really, Emery has done a decent to good job at this point in the journey. Honestly, as much issue as I had with Smith in the past...to me it is simply in the past. I don't look back in fondness other than the amazing D we witnessed with a full team of Url, Briggs, Harris, Peppers and Mike Brown (and also Hester's heroics). We are moving forward. What was done was done. It's now up to those in command to make the most out of the cards that have been dealt. So far, the hand has been played well. And the group in charge seems to be drawing better cards...

I think it's best we just stay away from the personell decisions!

Please no! I deserve no credit and nothing but grief! I failed that one! I picked Hardin! I sure am glad Emery is the guy out there for us and not me! I like what I've seen of Frey too...

I think lke everything involved this year, there are no final grades. We can only judge what we've seen so far.... At this point, he gets a solid B+ from me. He's done far better than average at this point. I amnot sure what restrictions, either implied or exact, were on his last draft (McLennin?). But given Alshon and his hits this past draft in Mills and Long (and who know who else...), along with his FA signing of the Unicorn and others...that's some good work so far. Think of this as a progress report. Final grades aren't out. But, right now this is how he's doing...

One door closes, another opens... Rock it Mr. Paea!

After 3 weeks, this is what I'm seeing...

Ha! I still think bend don't break is a good thing. We're not offensively challenged anymore. Basically, if we only allow a FG on every possession, we should easily win any game. I wish our D had more push too...they might get there. but right now, I have to think it's not going to get MUCH better. Better, but not by leaps and bounds. Just keep 'em out of the end zome is my thought... -
So true! Thank you! I need that pounded into my thick skull...I tried to get tricky and paid the price...

thanks for the info

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Cutty had his Jimmy Mac moment lowering his shoulder into the DB! Loved it! Hated it! But it all ended well. OVERALL POSITIVES: 1. We still have an opportunistic D. We are generally bending, but not breaking. Other than the odd big play, we seem to do fairly well keeping folks out of the end zone. 2. I'm thrilled with the OL! We went from awful to good. That's huge. Super huge. Ultra-mega huge. 3. Forte, Marshall, Jeffrey, and trhe Bennetts are getting the job done, and done well. The Unicorn has been a big big plus. I expected the WR's and RB's to look good, but wasn't sure about the Unicorn. I'm very pleased. 4. Cutty is clutch. Horrible for fantasy, but if your fantasy is a SB win, then he might be good for that! He has drastically improved with the play of the line and the coaching. 5. Gould is still the Gold Standard of kicking... 6. The offense and defense rocks the 1st and 4th quarters. The coaching staff need to keep it up and learn to do it all 4 quarters! OVERALL CONCERNS: 1. Other than running outside, our inside runs look feeble. More Fiametta in the running game blocking please! 2. Bush does not look strong hitting the hole. He looks flat. 3. D line isn't doing it. We've flogged this horse, but it's still a concern. 4. There appears to be some secondary errors in coverage. I hope this gets solved. 5. McLellin is getting pushed around on run coverage. Either he exits those downs or he needs to bulk up. 6. Podlesh is hit & miss. Lucky bouces still do not make good kicks. 7. Hester has looked good 1 of 3 games. Hopeully he can bring it in upcoming games. 8. The offense and defense lulls during quarters 2 & 3, the coaching staff needs to fix this.

Do we have anyone on the PS worth a shot? Didn't Cornelius look good in preseason? I can't honestly recall well... Seymour would be interesting...
-
Steel curtain? More like noodle curtain! Agreed. No more...unless we need in the SB!
-
Nope. Also started Eli over Luck. Someone must've slipped a Mickey in my Scotch... Straight dummin'...

But the Packers are America's darling team... Did you feel the PIT love last night from the booth? You'd think PIT was winning at some point in the game... Bear down!
-
Great post C-Dog...
-
'nuff said.
-
Agreed. It's babysteps. Game 1 was about keeping Cutler upright. Game 2 was about beating a divisional opponent. Game 3 was about winning on the road. I eagerly await game 4...

TODAY: Start Gio Bernard or Rashard Mendenhall? I'm leaning on Mendy...
-
I like Bush... Both are similar as other backs will vulture TD's...but Bush offer the better upside against an easier D.
-
Is that not all we can ask for at the moment? It's far easier to dismiss than have faith. But it's a lot less fun! Go Bears!

Stubborn! Like the like regime! I'll still gladly pour you a glass from the pitcher when you finally come around.
