  1. Compared to the overall career of McCown? I guess barring the handful of games last season, McCown could be considered consistent. Consitently mediocre. Cutler has had ups and downs, but his talent has never been in question. In fact, he only truly struggled when saddled with a less than mediocre OL and WR crew...
  2. Most the time, your avatar just throws me off, and I lose my train of thought...
  3. I thnk it's purely motivational.
  4. Damn...first Wilbur, then Samurai. Goota love Coach Trestman!
  5. Ha! I guess I just bought a bridge! Well done!
  6. Thanks for sharing all that!
  7. Agreed. At least we have some depth...
  8. I'm no more or no less a troublemaker than most everyone here. I am really not trying to make peace as I'm trying to just move forward. We all disagree at times, and sometimes it's casual and other times it gets personal. And sometimes, not matter how good or bad, it's just plain entertaining to see people bicker about. And I'm guilty of it as well at times. I just happen to be bored of the Urlacher extra year topic. So selfishly, I was merely trying to move things along to something else. And with that, I am my own worst enemy by adding to a discussion that in theory I should just leave well enough alone. I don't really try to be nice, so I take zero offense. I don't consider myself to be better or worse than everyone here. We're all on equal footing. I just try to be fair and as respectful as possible. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one stellar citizen on here, and that's Pix. Ther rest of us all have our issues and moments!

  10. Troll! But to answer the question...no. You keep the more consistent and younger talent, not the one year back-up wonder (see Scott Mitchell, etc...). Not to mention keeping Marshall happy... And we all like a happy Marshall!
  11. May I suggest we all move on to a different topic (Url one more year)? We can speculate until the end of time of what would have happened if Url was retained for one more year. Odss are the D would have been better given the extreme amount of deficiencies due to injury, etc. COuldn't get much worse, could it? But we're not really sure how much better as we don't know if age/injury etc would have crept in. Bottom line, it didn't happen. Both sides of the fence can easily justify their position. But it is over. It didn't happen. Odds are, at best, we would have inched into the playoffs to ultimately get destroyed by Seattle or SF. It was their years, not ours. Because of the drop off, we are probably experieincing an expedited re-build that might not have taken place until a year later. Overall, this is the concept we all should be embracing. The epic fail on D was the catalyst to make big moves to improve and add depth. We still might have done so, but maybe with less impetus. My thought is we would not be in as good a position today if the situation didn't play out as it did. I cherish our past, but I look forward to our future. What we have is more than acceptable to win a championship. It's up to players coaches and a bit of luck to make it happen. Greanted, news is slim pickins these days. But soon, camp will be on and it'll be time to embrace our future and let the legends of our past be something to look back fondly at. We are legitimate contenders. Let's seal the deal!
  12. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...g-into-his-30s/ Brandon Marshall sees Jerry Rice as a model for playing into his 30s Posted by Michael David Smith on May 23, 2014, 9:37 AM EDT Jerry Rice AP Brandon Marshall, the Bears’ 30-year-old receiver, just signed a contract that keeps him in Chicago for four more seasons. Marshall says he already has a model for the way a receiver can stay on top into his 30s. Marshall noted at his press conference announcing his new contract that Jerry Rice showed that players in their early to mid-30s can continue to play at a high level. Rice led the NFL in receiving yards for three straight seasons at ages 31, 32 and 33, and led the league in catches at age 34. Marshall thinks he can be that kind of player over the next few years. “Jerry Rice had his breakout year in Year 11,” Marshall said. “So, I am in nine, so I think I can do it.” It’s not realistic to think anyone is going to be as good in his 30s as Jerry Rice was, but Marshall has shown no signs of slowing down. It’s very realistic to think that Marshall will play well enough to earn the $40 million he’s slated to make over the next four years — and perhaps sign another lucrative contract after that.
  13. I only bet in person, but I have a few freinds that swear by Bodog. I have yet to pull the trigger myself. Being an accountant, I worry about the IRS tracking winnings. I know they only do if the numbers get very high. But worst case is you report it as income. And that would be over $10K I would well imagine. If the line was truly 8-8, and you bet $20 for the over...as longs as the Bears get 9 or more wins, you get your $20 back and the house's $20. Anything less, you lose. If you were to take Bears being better than 9-7, which would mean anything 10-6 or better, you would get odds. Probably something like getting your initial $20 back, and another $40 from the house. I may pull the trigger this season. If I do, I will keep everyone here posted...
  14. I best... Based on the info, 8-8 and the house wins. 9-7, you'd win if you bet the over. I'd bet the over...
  15. Thank you. This too shall pass. Onward and upward. Thank you Brian. Now it's someone else's turn to try to help get us a championship.
  16. Url out-lasted most careers int he NFL, so Briggs doing it to seems a bit much to expect. Possible, but not probable. I just don't see him remotely coming to the table to want amnything less but big bucks... And really, has he been that stellar w/o Url next to him? Last year was a bit off...but I wasn't that impressed. We cetainly know he's not a leader at minimum.
  17. He's been one of the most vocal wanting loot for many years. Also, seems to not like the new regime. I just don't see it going forward beyond the current contract. If he's resonable sure...but I just don't see it at the moment. And it's not like he's been the paragon of health recently as you mention with the shoulder...
  18. I see Briggs gone unless we somehow find the fountain of youth... Time for new fresh blood.
  19. Agreed. We really only put big money on Cutler. I love Phil's big picture thinking.
  20. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...act-with-bears/ Brandon Marshall announces new contract with Bears Posted by Michael David Smith on May 19, 2014, 12:17 PM EDT BrandonMarshall AP Brandon Marshall has signed a new contract with the Bears, and announced it in a venue where NFL news had not previously been broken. Marshall appeared on The View today to say that he has agreed to a new three-year, $30 million contract extension. He also announced that he will donate $1 million to treatment for people with mental health issues. Marshall himself has been open about his own struggle with mental illness, and the way treatment helped him turn his life around. On the field, Marshall has been outstanding in Chicago, starting all 32 games since the Bears traded for him two years ago and catching a total of 218 passes for 2,803 yards and 23 touchdowns. Marshall has a great rapport with quarterback Jay Cutler, who also signed a long-term deal to remain in Chicago, and the two of them will be together for years to come. Marshall is one of just three players in NFL history (along with Andre Johnson and Wes Welker) to have five different 100-catch seasons.
  21. F%$K yeah! I want him to retire here...and become a position or strength/speed training coach! I think the guy has just been stellar...
