  1. I totally understand your thinking. But I dont think Getsy survives, and so its gonna be something new anyway. I also (and you may disagree with this) think that Fields will never be an NFL QB. He's an incredible athlete, but he doesnt do the things we see Bagent showing us in terms of fast decisions, throwing with anticipation, general tempo and understanding situations - audibles, defensive weaknesses etc. he will have more games to prove me wrong this year for sure. Now I REALLY like Bagent. I worry about his long ball arm, but I have read that arm strength can be increased and developed. I dunno if thats true, but if it is, I can see Bagent becoming something great in the future. If not, hes the best backup in the league. maybe even now. But all things considered, I truly think that we have two top picks, and there are a bunch of QBs this year considered to be good, so I think you realistically have to take one int he first. Maybe not at #1. Maybe you like a guy like Penix or McCarthy in the middle of the first round. I dunno. But we would be bringing in a new QB with a lot more around them than any Bears QB has had in quite a long time. So to my way of thinking, until you have a top 5 QB, you are always looking for one.
  2. Look at Billings' strength blowing up the power big set from NO.
  3. I've been high on Bagent's ability since the beginning - I just think it's early to call him your franchise QB. There are questions around his arm strength on long passes. As for Fields, we will just agree to disagree. But Im not putting a ceiling on Bagent, but neither am I going into next year with him as the presumed starter without a top pick rookie behind him.
  4. yes first down. GREAT effort and athleticism by Bagent.
  5. terrible spot by the lady ref. Bagent reached the marker!
  6. yeah I loved the call on 4th and 1 too. Bagent did a lot of subtle things to manipulate the defense on that drive too. As one example, he twitched Mooney open on the first play.
  7. It's a great move. In the long run we will want to be building thru the draft, but having gotten rid of the previous roster and with having so much cap space, these are the right moves to make for now. And Im with you, DJ Moore and Montez Sweat, that's some good stuff right there. We need a QB
  8. I totally agree with you about Sanders. I don't want him as a first round pick at all. I havent seen much of Penix myself, but I have a friend who says he is the best QB in the draft. I'd have to see it for myself to make a judgement. My friend could be wrong. He knows football and has watched a lot of it, but I dont take any of it on faith of course. I worry about Williams too. In fact I dunno if any of them are sure fire winners. Athleticism is fine, but I want to see Bagent like production from a first round pick. I wanna see fast reads and throws with anticipation, and instead I see a lot of college superstars who look like Justin Fields. Now to be sure, college is a different game, and some of these QBs will mature into the NFL and become greats. I just dont know how the hell to guess which ones unless I see evidence of it in college, and you almost never do. I get why this is hard for NFL GMs.
  9. I think I like this latest one best. I mean getting Williams at 13 or whatever is cool, but will never happen. Also, I just want to say youre a draft animal, and keep the opinions coming. All you need now is a helmet haircut and you can beat Mel Kiper at his own game! I'll be listening to what you say about 3rd rounders etc more closely because of all the time youve put in. Thanks!
  10. I agree. With cap inflation, it might be 16 or 17, but highest paid? no thanks.
  11. I think you're right. Yuck.
  12. Yeah, I dont even know what i think about him. Part of me loves him, part of me thinks he would eventually blow everything up.
  13. Harbaugh is a psycho. He is waaay overly competitive. He wants to win more than anyone on this planet. That's a good and bad thing. I can see arguments for having him here, and arguments for avoiding him too. Surely there must be a tough SOB who will push this team to be a winner without being a total psycho? i dont know enough about the other candidates to know who that might be tho. But I will also say that the Bears seem to be a PC HR driven corporate culture, and I wonder if any true personality who is a winner could succeed here?
  14. I hate the HR-ification of football.
  15. I love having Billings around - as a starter and eventually in the rotation. Also 2 years seems about right. Good deal for the Bears.
  16. Amen. If your stats suck, if you run a 6 second 40, then youre not gonna make it in the NFL, but stats dont equal players. Football players are good at playing football, and sometimes their numbers are less than someone with super fast speed who doesnt have football talent. Velus Jones is fast, DJ Moore is a football player.
  17. and Getsy LOL but point well taken, Bagent does seem like the kind of guy who is going to grow week to week in vision.
  18. I was, and if Walker/Dexter works as a rotation at 3T, then you dont have to worry about resigning him, or anyone else, and that is another hidden benefit of the 2nd rounder we spent is all I was saying.
  19. yeah, he needs to pass his physical first. I would expect the contract soon after.
  20. a strongly substantiated rumor says that the NFL will punish Harbaugh with a suspension for his behavior at Michigan. If so, why not serve that suspension at the end of this season and start fresh next? That's a scenario if they bring him in here.
  21. the value of the picks it takes to make the trade are affected by the deal the player is demanding. If Sweat is signing a decent deal thats team freindly he is worth a higher draft pick than a player who is demanding a huge bank breaking deal. If you want to figure the relative value paid for these players, youve got to wait until you know the deals they signed too?
  22. Agree on Jaylon, but theres no way the Bears made this trade without a deal in place already with Sweat. it will be announced hours after he passes his physical. And I think the value of Sweat's deal vs what Young gets in SF will explain the disparity in picks traded, and why we made the choice we did.
