  1. The safest picks are usually oline and dline, which need to become a serious consideration every draft. As Jason says, a great oline can make a mediocre RB a great one.
  2. Only a few coaches have demanded, McDermott and Shannahan lately. Chicago must not have contacted Bellichik, huge mistake on them. We don't know who will be available in 45 days. We may even trade draft picks to get the coach. All options are open because they cannot screw this up with a QB that can carry a team to greatness.
  3. Tyrique split playing time with Terrell last year and they both showed signs of becoming staples for the D. They are back to splitting time this year again. Tyriques play since that Washington DC debacle has been down, which seems like his heart and desire was ripped out. I'm sure the NFL and the rest of world made sure he knew how foolish he looked and that is a lot of weight to carry. He needs a great play to shake that weight off and I hope he can get an Interception and return Monday night to do that. He still has the talent he was drafted for and just needs something to grab his heart to be connected again.
  4. I think the Bears intend to hire a great HC. If that HC wants his own GM and that is the hang up for signing, then Poles will be looking for work. Poles career has not gone as well as he planned. Nate Davis for instance, blindsided him. A few draft picks were wasted on trades and bad players selected. I am not saying Poles has been bad, because he has done decent with the tools he had. This offseason he can be in great position to fill some major voids with the first 4 picks in the draft that could redeem his job. But if a great HC wants someone else to work with, then we have to end the Poles era.
  5. Did you catch Kurt Warners thought on Caleb's low INTs. He said he is playing too safe and needs to take more risks. The score echoed this. I screamed nooo.
  6. And this is with "Coach" Keenan Allen and DJ Moore, two journeyman wrs. I am not sure how they would allow this. You would think they would have a voice.
  7. I'd be happy with Tankathons last draft for the Bears. OL and DL should be taken in the top 3 rounds every year, regardless of depth. You have 9 to 10 players on the lines and taking 1 OL and 1 DL every year will keep the cupboard full. I dont think the Bears have drafted a stud DE since Dent, or an OLT since Covert. Is this on the owners too...there have been a handful of different GMs and we still haven't drafted one since. https://www.tankathon.com/nfl/mock_draft 1-9 Kelvin Banks Jr OT Texas 2-35 Jonah Savaiinaea OG Arz 2-41 JT Tuimolua Edge Ohio St 3-73 Donte Corleone DT Cincy
  8. Good thing we needed a 4th round punter to help us pin teams at the goal line.
  9. Welp, I'm pretty much checked out until they mess up the next head coach hire. I will make myself believe in them at first after the hire, but they will screw this up too.
  10. I don't view them as being woke or politically correct, but finding people that will abide to their restrictions. Every team has it, but the McCaskeys tend to want that good boy image. They need to open up a little and let the people they hire run the operations without their consent. You can report to them, but no feedback required.

I played guard and it is about strength, leverage and mobility. Jones has long arms and mobility but cannot win any leverage match. He would be having power rushers collapse the pocket even quicker than outside. As for Pass Pro responsibilities, guard usually has more bodies in front of him against a 3-4. NT, DE, and LB. 4-3, usually a DT over you. You have to know your responsibilities Talent wise, yes they face some of the most athletic freaks with speed and size so you do not know what they will throw at you. Jones to me is a LT or swing only. If he can be a high level starting guard, that would be a blessing and I would love it.
  12. The article was from the Bears website last year. I also recall on TV/news Warren say the team needs continuity and keeping the coaching staff is just that. If Poles or Warren wanted to fire him last year, they got their stories inline before their press announcement last year. If you find a story saying the other way, please share.
  13. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/stability-continuity-give-bears-really-bright-future-2024-poles-eberflus-warren From Warren - more in article meanwhile, has seen firsthand how stability and continuity have benefited two NFL teams he's worked for. The Rams went 5-11 in 1997 and 4-12 in 1998 in Dick Vermeil's first two seasons as coach before winning the Super Bowl in 1999. The Vikings were 6-10 in 2006 and 8-8 in 2007 in Brad Childress' first two years as coach before winning back-to-back NFC North titles with records of 10-6 in 2008 and 12-4 in 2009.

I feel different about his abilities to play guard since that is the type of rush he struggles the most with is . He is under contract for one more year, leave him as LT/Swing. If a stud LT is available RD1, take him. If not Kiran can compete for LT or move to G.
  15. I think Poles was handcuffed on the coach. They pre-interviewed the candidates and told him who they favored. I would also say by the Warren/Poles post Flus interview, that they could not fire the HC without McCaskeys blessings. Hence they had to wait for George to get to Halas Hall before proceeding. Poles, imo, couldn't fire him after last season. He had 2 years left on contract and that is not something they would consider without a disaster. Eberflus ultimately hires his coaching staff, so it is difficult to see how Poles failed with Getsy/Waldron when these were guys Flus wouldnhave hired.
  16. HC Thomas Brown and the Bears promoted Chris Beatty, WR coach to OC. Now there's a name we most likely never heard of.
  17. The Bears had how many years with few draft picks. How many vet contracts did they have to clear to actually have healthy cap space again. Poles said he was going to build through the draft and not FA, so that means taking many shots on lower level vet contracts and not chasing the stars. With little resources and needs, he bit on Claypool which at the time we were all excited to get Fields a deep threat. Nate Davis filled a huge void but he checked out mentally, played 11 and 2 games. He graded 3rd in 2023 for the Bears oline behind Jenkins and Braxton Jones. So he was fine in 2023. Edmunds has not lived up to his ability, but could with an improved dline, so here is too hoping Poles addresses this area along with the oline. The issue, in my opinion, is coaching. If you have a coach that knows how to win, and you are winning games, your players look better, play better, and you forget the bad easier. This we will have to see.
  18. These are a few names sportswriters have been throwing out. The Freeman one caught me off guard, but I can see that being a McCasky wish. Today I see Ryan Day and I've seen Dan Lenning Oregon Ducks HC name mentioned too. This will be a difficult process because it has to be right. If not, I feel we are doomed for ages.
  19. Thoughts on Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame HC as a candidate. Short list of bears candidates: Thomas Brown Mike Vrabel Kliff Kingsbury Aaron Glenn Marcus Freeman
  20. Thoughts on Bears president Warren saying he will lead the Bears new HC search and Poles will assist. It tells me Poles is on a short leash
  21. I would at least bring him in and see what he would do with this team. If he wants the NFL record for wins, which he needs 27 more, that would 2-3 years and be normal from what we have seen from HCs lately. Poles can learn a little about player evaluation from a great too while giving up some control if Belichick wants some. He is one candidate that better be on the Bears short list. The way they handled the Flus firing, I doubt it since they made the Deadman walk and speak this morning and fired him 90 minutes after
  22. He also didn't get along so well with Brady. I would say he uses tough love to bring the respect and excellence put of his field generals. If he is buddy buddy, that allows slack.
  23. Thomas Brown most likely leaves next season as is. Making him HC gives you first hand sight at his ability to HC. That may take a little focus off Caleb but he will still call plays but on the sideline. As for Bellichick, bring him in a get his insight. Hire him if he seems good, even if for 3 to 5 years. He is one of the greatest of all time. I'll take a few years if that.
  24. Flip the order I originally put. I was naming them in order right to left not thinking how it looked on paper. Besides Jenkins big injury year, has he really missed as much time as the others? Shelton has been the only constant this year and the rest have missed games. At this point Kiran has been a waste and he won't develop until next season if they even try to get him developed. I would draft OLT with the first. Maybe try to trade Braxton Jones, if not let him walk after next season and Kiran can become a swing. B Jones/ Banks LT, rookie LG, Shelton/Majors C, Jenkins RG, Wright RT.
  25. Do you think the mckaskeys were going to let Warren and Poles fire the coach. Have the Bears ever done it? I think it goes hirer up. I like more of what Poles has done with the little resources he has had than the the previous gms since Angelo. Angelo started to sour once Lovie got more power in that dual. I do think Cunningham is more than Poles and would be fine letting flus and poles both go. The Bears have 3-4 years to win a superbowl and now next year will be about learning the new system, so time is closing fast
