The Ben Johnson Effect
If the Bears had Garrett they would be instant favorites. Picking so late this year and hopefully next, trading 2 - 1sts wouldn't hurt my feelings as long as we have the rest of our picks. Maybe throw in DJ Moore to help Shedour with a 1st & 2nd.

Draft Prospects
The sad part is that was supposed to be Montez Sweat. Does he need stud DTs to wreck the inside or does he need replaced?

The Ben Johnson Effect
Since I do not seeing a rookie being a threat to opponents year one, they will have to find a way through re-doing contracts or trading players. Would fa's Trey Hendrickson or Joey Bosa have enough in the tank to be that threat? Or try to trade for a Myle Garrett? The FA route might allow them to draft prospects and to fit the cap, they may have to trade/cut DJ, Kmet, Edmunds.

The Ben Johnson Effect
All I am saying is everyone that says it is a guarantee the Bears will draft a RD1 DL/DT should keep an open mind. Odds are good that happens but locking it in, never from me.

The Ben Johnson Effect
After I seen Ben rubbing his hands together with an evil grin, I said he has something good brewing with Loveland

The Ben Johnson Effect
What if there isn't any D penetrators worth the value of the pick? That's all im saying. Like the LTs were gone, so TE it was. We get sucked into our major needs, like LT last year, and take a #2 TE who most draft experts had behind Warren. Among our board, TE wasn't mentioned much or at all. That is why I would not bet. I have DT/DE as my target when doing mocks. Read the profiles over and over. The algorithm always has the edges gone but boat loads of QBs.

Year 2 QB QBR Tracker
I wonder if they moved them for the same reason the Bears did with Fields. They didn't want that player, who just had his replacement drafted, around to spoil their investment.

The Ben Johnson Effect
I wouldn't bet a lot that they go D line with their first myself, but they will address the position this offseason. Last year we were both certain they would go LT and I don't recall seeing TE let alone Loveland on anyone's Bingo card. We will all expect and mock DT/DE but who knows who is available.

The Ben Johnson Effect
The offense needs to control the ball more than 2-1/2 minutes to help the D too. Seems like GB would march the whole field were the Bears were 3 and out. I almost feel the Bears need a stud or two at DT more than the DE. Billings is not the same force as he was a year or two ago.

Bears play at SF on a short week and could play there again for the big dance.

This seems to be a pretty deep QB draft. Might not be bad to get one cooking because Caleb might be as good as he is ever gonna be right now.

The offense needs a lot more because these short possessions are killing our defense. They were out of gas before half.

BJ probably feel like an ass after the 4th and 1 play near the goal line. He needs a slap in the face bc he looks like a ghost staring into nothing.

Love lowered his head, wish they would take that into consideration but you know they wont. Hes out at least a play if not the game.

Week 15 Official Game Thread - CLE @ CHI, 1200 SUN 12/14, FOX, Bears -7.5, O/U 40.5
At this time last year we were pounding our fists for a LT. We chose the 2nd TE on most boards. I dont see a RB right now other than Love from ND, but you never know. Im not saying we will or should take a RB but if they see one that they think adds that explosive play potential, then don't be surprised. Ill say the same for another WR or any position.

Or draft one (rb) early if there is a player that adds explosive play potential. Johnson wants players all over the field, offense/defense, that have that. He had an acronym that I tried to look up. Just because we need DE/DT/S doesnt mean we draft them round 1. They will take the best player that they like.

Monangai did lead the Big10 in rushing, so that itself should have made him known. The guy may not have the best speed but contact balance, vision, and drive to go with pass pro and ball security make him solid. Eric Bienemy did scream and pound for him since he was at UCLA and coached against him a couple of times.

Jermaine Johnson DE NYJ has 13 mil contract next year. Id consoder the 32 pick for him if the Jets are down for it.

The Ben Johnson Effect
The way it's looking, the pick will be 31 or 32... with that said, the trade value is less and the draft prospect more raw. I know Poles has already done a lot of homework and by the sounds of it could possibly had Jermaine Johnson DE NYJ at the deadline if everyone was on board. His value was estimated a 2nd round pick. If NYJ gets antsy this draft, I'd test those waters again. He is young and a disrupter. Sherman Turner will be back and the Bears liked him at DE, especially on run downs. He will be in the mix inside and outside. Booker is showing promise, so it will be a mystery on how they approach this.

The Ben Johnson Effect
The Bears will invest in the D/Dline through the draft, but dont expect them to be huge contributors year one. Rookies D-linemen take longer to become first string rotation since there is a huge jump from college to pros in strength and knowledge to overcome. If the Bears can shed some cap as another post was started by Mongo, i believe, they might try to add a legit pass rusher via trade. I would rather build thru the draft, but if we a knocking on NFC div leaders door, the time is now.

2025 Schedule/Opponents - Oh boy
Damn, ACL is not good. 9 month time table. Hate to see great players go down but when its a packer, and one they gave a haul for, it's a little bit okay.
